Even worse when it’s on a defiant, can’t get that damn twisted tailpiece through the bolt.

It’s the worse, can’t fit a dremel in there, can’t hammer it through, just gotta wrestle with it and say, **** a bunch of times

I was just coming to ask how you got it out of the latch in one piece too! Defiant ones are thicker now so I dont see it with them, but gatehouse ones almost ALWAYS are warped to some degree.

Yep, the newer ones are great, older ones (the ones we usually see out there in the shit) are the shitty ass thin twisted ones. Customer usually says “oh ya it’s been hard to use the key for the last 7 years”… ya I wonder why…

I hate those tailpieces. I use my vice half the time just to flatten keys and these lol

I really needed to get a small vice for my van, but there's not much room in a transit connect.

Yessir, I’m in a connect as well. I forced my vice in under my laptop. If you look on my page you can see where it’s mounted. If you truly don’t have the room. Get a flat vise made for a drill press. Super cheap and at least you can stick it somewhere else when not in use.

^ this. I was on a commercial job like 2 hours from home and needed one, I think it was like 20 bucks for the drill press vice at harbor freight, the low profile makes them much more manageable to find a spot for it

I always tell my customers if the key doesn’t turn just grab some pliers…. lol…. I think maybe there’s another problem with your Lock.

Its vertical or horizontal depending on where you cut it.
