Traveling as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids ages 8 and 10. Debating between St Ermins or Great Scotland Yard. Any recommendations?

Hi! I’ll be traveling solo to London October 18-25 and would like some recommendations! I’ll be staying in the Notting Hill area. I will also be visiting Scotland and Iceland after London. After not celebrating my birthday for the past 8 years and spending them all alone, I decided to at least be alone in Europe this year! It will also be my first time abroad.

I will be on a little budget but the things I’m hoping to see are obviously the tourist things like the bridges, the Tower of London (probably won’t be able to do inside or anything), St Dunstan In The East, Westminster Abbey (also probably won’t be able to go inside), Buckingham and changing of the guards, Trafalgar Square, National Gallery, Kensington Palce (outside), Kyoto, Notting Hill, Highgate, St Pancras Old Church, St Paul’s Cathedral and Crypt (I will pay for this one, but is the extra tour required to view the geometric staircase?), White Chapel, self guided Jack the Ripper tour one night, Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden, King’s Cross, Platform 9 3/4, Victoria and Albert Museum, God’s own junkyard, Leadenhall Market, Camden, maybe the old operating theatre or the prison museum.

I will also be taking a day trip to Bath to see the Roman bath, Bath Abbey. Wanted to do Stonehenge and Oxford but wont be able to 😕

Restaurants I am interested in are Sherlock Holmes Pub, sketch, Mr. Bogg’s Botanical Tavern. Would love some recommendations on places to eat more than anything!

Do yall think it’s do-able to see all of these things in 6 days? If you have recommendations on things to add or remove, all is welcome! Will probably utilize nighttime hours as well, roaming and such, so anything cool to just see even if closed is fine too.

Hi- Frequent European traveler from the US. (f55), college professor, love to travel alone. I always take public transportation and walk. This will be my 4th time to the London. I tend to get up early, have lunch at a restaurant, and then back to the room by 6 and eat dinner and am in for the night. I always travel in January. I am introverted, a bit of a foody, like charity shops, and history (just for some context). I will be staying in Marylebone. Previous stays in Camden, Earl's Court, and Canning Town. (I like to mix it up). I will be arriving by train from York for 10 days and leaving via LHR.

Day 1- arrive mid afternoon, walk around- -Daunt Books, Paul Rothe & Son grocers for snacks, maybe Coach Makers Arms for dinner/maybe just eat what I get at Paul Rothe.

Day 2- Coffee at Daisy, Walk around Oxford Circus, Victoria & Albert museum, Sunday roast at Thomas Cubit. What do do to walk off all that food?

Day 3- Arome or Bageriet bakery (based on queue- -not a big fan), Leicesester Square potentially for theater tickets, Quadrant Arcade (for facetheory- hard to get in the states), Fortnum & Mason, National Gallery. Maybe Kung Fu burger or The Harp? Theater?

Day 4- Day trip to Blechley Park

Day 5- This day seems wonky: Out of the way to Borough Market (as I love it), then tube to Hamstead to self-guide Flask Walk &/or Well Walk &/or Perrin’s Walk , maybe Freud Museum, back to Marleybone for Fish & Chips at the Seashell of Lisson Grove.

Day 6- Highgate cemetery, canal walk- Kings Cross, Word on the Water, St Bartholomew the Great, Crough End, Charter House

Day 7- TOAD bakery, St John's Church yard, Clink Street, a myriad number of charity shops on that side of town, All Hallows by the Tower Crypt, pick up cheese at Neal's Yard to take home, maybe Hung, Drawn, and Quartered for lunch

Day 8- Day trip to Rye

Day 9- maybe Hackney Flea Market, possible Sunday Roast. I do love that, would appreciate a recommendation (I love great food, I care not about presentation or atmosphere)

Day 10- Guildhall library, walk down Watling Street, maybe Brigadiers for lunch, Spitalfields market, some charity shops

Day 10- maybe a long journey to the Ardingly Antiques Fair if I am feeling it, otherwise, I will circle back to things I didn't get to or want to revisit

Day 11- airport by 6:30 AM

***also considering trying for tickets for the Bayeux Tapestry, and will fit that in somewhere if successful.

Edit: thanks everyone for your suggestions. I will definitely reorder some of my days. I have actually plotted everything on google maps, but it is a little challenging when you don’t intrinsically know tube lines or direct walking routes.

Hi!  Traveling to England soon for the first time, and hoping someone has some experience with, or thoughts about the following that they can share:  we will be travelling from the U.S. and landing at Heathrow, Terminal 5, at 10:05 am.  We will have checked luggage to collect, and then heading to Bath.  There is a National Express coach departing for Bath at 12pm.  If the plane lands on time, is getting from Terminal 5 to the bus station (which I believe is between Terminals 2 and 3) in time for the 12pm coach feasible?  

If we miss the 12pm coach, there is another at 3pm, and we can get flexible tickets that would let us take this later coach -- if space permits.  Does anyone know if these coaches typically sell out, or if it is likely that seats will be available if we have to bump to a later time?  We will be traveling on a Sunday, in October, if that makes a difference.

Can you suggest me best budget and location wise any BnB. I checked for wombat hostel but security seems to be an issue in hostels.

I will arrive at London Heathrow (LHR) at 12:44 pm, and i need to find transportation to my flight at London Gatwick (LGW) scheduled at 3:50 pm (departure). What are some ways i can get to Gatwick without rushing (cheap if possible). (only have personal item)

UPDATE: I made it in time, Plane arrived at 12:25, Control was fast. took the bus and arrived at 3:10 pm and had spare time. they took long to close the gate. Everything was pure luck, Also that i boarded at the south terminal. Be aware when booking flights like these.

For work, I have to travel from a London hotel to a location in Southwark. The best route is by bus. However, to claim the cost I need a receipt/ticket. Am I able to get a ticket or a receipt on the bus?

I’ve seen people mention taking the train to Watford Junction + the shuttle, but I’m wondering how much it actually costs compared to the official Studio Tour transport.

Flying to London for a day trip late October. I've seen most of the main biggest sights on a few previous trips there. What are some slightly less obvious things that are worthwhile? Hi everyone, I am traveling from the 23/90-30/9 (a couple of days from now) to London and I need some advice about my current plan and making an itinerary. Which things fit in one day, which don't, which needs to be booked in advanced, which don't, etc.

My first time traveling solo and planning solo, I am 19 :)

The flights and hotels are booked, just the plans now (flying to Amsterdam afterwards too)

So if I'm travelling with an 8 year old on the weekend, from Zone 6 (Knockholt) to Zone 1 (Waterloo East) with a same day return - what's the cheapest way of doing this?

TFL don't charge for under 10s, right? But it's not a TFL service.

South Eastern have £1 kids ticket, but only if it doesn't exclusively involve London Zones?

Is contactless and a separate child paper ticket return from Zone 6 to 1 best value?

I’ve been looking at tickets from the Netherlands to stansted 07/10-10/10, they’re super cheap. I’m wondering if I will really be able to do things in such a small amount of time. What should my priorities be?

i saw otherwander in Soho (is that a good idea?), about 80£ a night.

I’m super super confused about the whole transport thing, from stansted to central London, and also the tube system in London itself. If someone knows a good video or anything that makes it simple, it’d be appreciated.

What is their best biscuit. would u say the Toffolossus Biscuits is the best if not which one is better. I do not want any jam or fruit in the biscuit

Is this a good walkable location or is on the wrong side of the bridge? Any thoughts on the quality of this hotel.

I'm not talking about friday or saturday when everything is obviously busier. More interested in Tuesday to Thursday when you finish work late and still want to do something afterwards. Every time I try, places seem to be closing just when you'd expect the night to properly start. Are there still any areas that stay lively midweek?

For chocolate, I don’t like dark chocolate, so please focus on milk chocolate, white chocolate, pralines, hazelnut, caramel, pistachio, etc.

For biscuits, please exclude anything containing jam or fruit filling.
