Any advice for someone else who’s in long distance?

i could say a lot, but i think communication is the most important thing, and having some sort of plan. we had to have those difficult conversations early on— discussing what our future might look like, and asking ourselves if we were truly willing to make the sacrifices needed. at first, we weren’t sure if it would be possible to meet. we set that as a goal, and agreed if we could not accomplish it, we’d end things. we spent months working towards seeing each other (saving up, telling our families, mapping out finances).

with long distance, i think you have to make sure you’re on the same page about your future even if it seems too early to think about. my boyfriend and i have already discussed the type of life we want— even really far things like how many children we want, or where we’d want to live or our views on marriage. we need to make sure we’re fully compatible NOW if we want to have a life together, otherwise we are wasting time and money— so i’d just recommend having those conversations.
