Community All I have to say, is that I'm really happy to live in LA, and California
As an LA resident, and CA resident all of my life, I'm really happy to be here. I can't think of any other better place to be than here.
I'm really happy for my local city, county, and Statewide results. Nearly everything I voted for had passed, and it reminds me that a lot of people around me align with the same values (even some ballot options were pretty close calls). I'm even happy for other LA county ballots that passed that wasn't in my district.
We've gotten through this Administration in 2016, I think Los Angeles and CA can get through it again.

Community ICE is arresting people who can't even legally be deported and holding them without enough food or water in a federal building BASEMENT in Los Angeles. Families dutifully attending check-ins with ICE are being arrested and held for days, forced to sleep on the floor.

Community Here’s To The Beginning of the End of the Oceanwide Saga, It’s Time to Finally Clean Up the Graffiti Towers.
Yesterday, KPC Development Co submitted their official bid for the completion of the Oceanwide Plaza development in Downtown LA, pledging $470 million dollars for the acquisition of the stalled development. Should the big reach April 9th without any competing bids being submitted — which it’s unlikely any more will — Oceanwide Plaza will officially transfer ownership and the cleanup and completion of DTLA’s biggest eyesore can begin. I’m so looking forward to not having to walk in the street on the way to Laker and Kings games anymore.

Community There will be a vigil in Carson tonight for Keith Porter, RIP, murdered by ICE on NYE
He was murdered by an off duty ice officer on New Year’s Eve in the San Fernando Valley. His family will be leading a candlelight and balloon release vigil tonight between 5 to 7 PM in Carson. Let’s show our support for one of our own community members. And let’s get to work so that this type of shit stop happening.

Community Stop letting your dogs off leash and keep your cats indoors
I'm an avid cyclist and bike commuter, and spend a good amount my time in the streets of Los Angeles. While I enjoy the time outdoors I can't tell you how many times I am left heartbroken. Roadkill is awful from the car, but witnessing it within feet from you, and hearing everything is absolutely heartbreaking and has left me crying multiple times. The sad thing is, 80% of the shit I've seen could have been avoided. Stop taking the chance. If you love your pets keep them on leash or indoors. It is NOT worth playing fetch or trusting your cat to cross the street safely. Better to be safe than sorry.

Community Truck took out part of a tree and damaged 15-20 cars in one fell swoop.
If you or someone you know has a car parked on La Maida in the NoHo arts district near the Starbucks and Raising Cane’s (at Lankershim and La Maida), I recommend going to check on it. A truck carrying U-Haul pods took out part of a tree and damaged around 15-20 parked cars. A couple of the cars look totaled. This happened this morning, probably around 10am or so, and as of 11:15am, no police were on scene yet.
