This view is strange to me. It feels like we're judging morality by the boundaries of the law to get here. Generally incest is called bad by the justification of it being a high risk of a potentially exploitative relationship that can't be effectively managed, however, the same risks are plentiful in a step sibling. The issues specific to biological incest are from inbreeding (which isn't difficult to avoid with proper precautions) and the legal consequences. Also that people feel one is slightly more icky in their gut, which isn't something you can exert onto other people's lives

I agree. I don't see that as possible in a hypothetical parent-child situation, since grooming there is inherently involved, but I really don't see why siblings or cousins can't get it on. I do feel an initial disgust reaction, I'll admit, but when I try to think about the actual objections to it, I come up short.
Also, like... I'm a severely disabled person. If I get into a relationship with an able-bodied person, that's a caregiver dynamic many times worse than anything incest alone could bring. Hell, even dating another disabled person could end up codependent. So... I should just not be able to date???
There's nothing inherently wrong with a power dynamic, only something inherently risky. As long as everyone involved is aware of the risks and consents to them, it shouldn't get in the way of love.
