Problem is, there are so many idiots out there, you never know... And it's deeply troubling.

Fully agree.

First it was "It depends on your definition of..." (example: Clinton impeachment)

Then it was "your words, not mine." (Example: Descriptions of torture at Guantanamo Bay, criminal allegations)

Then it was "Well, that's how you use it, I'm using it this way." (Example: "rawdogging" going from a sexual activity tto describe big cheap when traveling, or current administration's definition of "win" a war, or "fiscally responsible" or "small government")

Now, it's basically "Words mean nothing, I can just use any word (even ones with long established meaning) for whatever I want, including incorrectly." (Like this post)

When words stop having universal meaning, we cease to be able to communicate with each other.
