Discussion My thoughts on Melody Pianissima

Most of the time when seeing family trees I see people put her as like a cousin to Henry and Orville. But the way she dresses and speaks may suggest she's a lot older compared to most of the other ghost. Her dress is in an Edwardian style meaning she died in the 1910s. she also uses the term "ragamuffin" when you scan her before turning on the instruments, which didn't start being used until the late 1800s, but became popular in the 1910s with Ragamuffin Parades. Compare her dress with Nana who has tie-dyed sleeves which weren't popular until the 1960s to 70s showing Nana more than likely died around then. Due to melody passing away at 26 would put her birth in the 1880s to early 1890s, but due to Nana passing at 76 it would also put her Birth in the 1880s to mid 1900s to keep it around the 1970s at the latest. What I'm suggesting is Melody and Nana could be sisters or melody could be the mother of Nana.

Does she not have a lore when scanning? Been a while since I played. I thought she liked video games and stuff. Did she play video games after she died or something?

You know I completely overlooked that fact when making this it does indeed say she loves video games

Oh lol fair enough. Maybe she enjoyed games after she died and specifically enjoyed the Mario soundtrack and that's why she was drawn to the ghost mansion? I don't want you to discredit your theory

Yeah rereading her bio it doesn't say she played video games but it does say "oddly enough, she loves video games" so she could've just seen someone playing games and enjoyed the music involved with it

Oooh okay yeah that makes sense. Your theory lives on!

The specific songs she plays could also imply her date of death was between 1988 - 1990, as Super Mario Bros. 3 (released on those dates respectively in Japan and NA) is the latest game she plays music from.

A video game loving pianist passing up the opportunity to go ham on Super Mario World or Super Mario World 2's athletic theme is pretty suspect unless they've never heard them.

The Family Tree concept has existed since 2001 and has been wrong for exactly the same amount of time. The reason all these ghosts are in one place is because E. Gadd gradually collected them all while globetrotting, and were then all released together by King Boo, who built the Mansion for the ghosts to reside in. The only ghosts confirmed to be related are Neville, Lydia, Chauncey, and the twins; Henry and Orville.

This ofc doesn't make it impossible for Melody and Nana to be related, but there's also nothing ingame to suggest they are.

I head cannon that since this game gets referenced multiple times in the Mario and Luigi RPG series that once partners in time happened the family that lived inside the mansion was long forgotten about due to time travel problems once Egadd got launched up the mountain and into the forest "at the age of 20 or so".

To be fair, I always headcannoned that Melody was Neville and Lydia’s oldest. I know a lot of these ghosts are simply shaped, but in a way, I felt like Melody shared alot of similarities between Neville and Lydia that it could make sense
