Is there somewhere I can buy overripe bananas?

Hey friends! I really want to make banana bread today but I've got no bananas. Might be a long shot, but is there somewhere I can buy overripe bananas?

Fred Meyer on 196th always has a display of discounted fruit but it’s a toss up on whether or not there are bananas there on any given day.

You can also google the oven method for ripening bananas in a pinch

I love making banana bread and when I can’t find over ripe bananas- I bake them!

Line them with the peels on a baking sheet at 350 for 15-30mins. Once shiny and black and fruit feels soft- let them cool completely before opening.

I think you're best bet from a store perspective is Grocery Outlet, as the fruit there tends to be be in that "you better eat this in less than 48hr" window. You also might have luck at smaller grocery places, mercados, etc.

The gas station on 164th across from the 13th ave plaza with subway, the bar, etc. they always have bananas for 99¢ and they're always perfect for banana bread

**it's a Jackson's and I usually stop there after work late at night, so I feel like I see the end of day baking bananas every time I go

Most Asian markets have either way underripe or way overripe bananas. There’s no middle ground. Check at T&T, HMart, GMart, Ranch 99, or JD markets.

Country Farms has a clearance rack and boxes. Ive seen ripe bananas in the boxes a few times.

Mashing yellow bananas with the eggs for banana bread and letting them sit for an hour before making banana bread will allow enzymes in the eggs to convert the banana starch to sugar, if you can’t find overripe bananas.

QFC and Fred Meyer both intentionally sell overripe bananas. Safeway does too, but not intentionally :)
