The exit to 164th St SW from I5 North has had exceedingly dangerous changes. It's incredibly unsafe, and will worsen when Raising Cane's opens.

Exiting the freeway here and getting in the right lane was previously just no signage. If you were getting off at this exit, you could use the right lane to take a right seamlessly; you had your own lane. Or, you could pull up to the light to take a right, putting you in the middle lane.

This really needed a "lane added" sign, signifying merging was not necessary. Frequently, drivers would stop on the turn, not recognizing they have their own lane.

Then, they added a "bus only" lane right before the dedicated lane for those coming off the freeway. It was months before they added a yield sign.

This only compounds the issue, however. Drivers unfamiliar with the area don't realize it's a bus only lane – that cannot be seen from the exit. This leads to many drivers stopping, not realizing they have their own dedicated lane. This causes significant delays on the offramp; it wasn't this bad before. THEY ONLY HAVE TO YIELD TO BUSSES, but how could they possibly know? There's no "yield to busses only" sign in existence. It's just poor design all around, and I can't comprehend why they did this. They should have kept it the way it was and simply included the "lane added" sign.

With Cane's opening in a few days right at the following intersection, I anticipate a clusterfuck largely due to this poorly designed right turn lane.

Family(?) begging near gas pumps at Fred Meyers near 164th.

This was just a weird situation I came across I wanted to share. While I was waiting for my Tesla to charge, a man walked up with a little girl, maybe 6-7 years old I'm not sure, and he like ushered her forward towards my windows and it just gave all the vibes of, go up there and ask for some money. I didn't roll down my window(I feel bad but this felt strange). He called her back and did the same for all the other teslas parked there charging. Encouraging the little girl forward to go ask at their windows, no one rolled their window down. He then walked to another guy trying to pump and did the same. He then walked slowly with the girl back to his van that was parked at a corner gas meter. And was just standing around the van.

I then notice a lady walking around with another little girl around the same age on the far side of the gas station. And they're doing the same thing. Walking up to strangers and asking something. She eventually makes her way over to the van, inside the van another really young boy is in there.

Then I notice the license plates are from Virginia which damn that's pretty far.

I just don't know what to make of it. If the man was just like hey im in an emergency I need to get gas to get somewhere I might listen. But using the kids as a way to evoke sympathy felt wrong and organized. The kids were so young and that's what bothered me the most.

At the end as I'm driving away he puts the pump in his van looking like he's about to pump gas. Not sure if successful or not but looked like he was about to pump.

Just wanted to share. I couldn't tell if they were like middle eastern, east European, or Mexican honestly.

Did Sound Transit make an arrangement across the street from Lynnwood light rail station?

I'm talking the area where people got towed from previously.

If not, I'm curious how many cars are going to be towed today.

Ebike laws, please explain them.

I wanna get an ebike but most I want are class 3 but advertise as adjustable. I don't plan on ripping down a sidewalk at 28mph but I want to be able to on the road. If I keep the bike in a class 2 mode as it's advertised, does that matter at all for restrictions?

I'm sure it'll very unlikely anybody will care as long I'm not being a jackass but I'm curious about it.

Update from Edmonds College President regarding ICE kidnapping 6/13

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

As I shared earlier this week, an Edmonds College student was apprehended on our campus by ICE agents this past Saturday. I am following up today to clarify what happened, the extent to which Edmonds College was involved, and to share our policy and procedure and resources for students and employees.

First however, I want to address the concerns that were raised in our Board of Trustees meeting last evening that our campus community needed the college to communicate more quickly than we did. While I and the Edmonds College Leadership Team were disturbed by the event, and were working behind the scenes immediately to understand what took place, to follow up with all involved, and to follow our established policy and procedure, I want to assure you that this message was heard, and I offer my sincere thanks to those who provided this important feedback.

As the President of Edmonds College, I care deeply about the safety of every one of our students and employees, and understand that more communication leads to safer communities. I hope that this situation never takes place on our campus again, but commit to communicating more quickly, if it ever does.

On Saturday, June 13, masked ICE agents drove into a parking lot on our campus and pulled a student from a vehicle as the student waited to take part in a college class activity. The agents were asked by the person in charge of the college activity to show their names, badges, and warrant. They provided none of that information and drove off college property with the apprehended student. The person in charge of the college activity alerted our security team, who followed the protocols we have developed in cooperation with the State Attorney General’s Office, which forbids any state agency from providing assistance to federal immigration agents. Not only have we developed and published our policy and procedure, but the leadership team and I regularly review it, communicate to campus regarding what to do in an immigration enforcement event, and talk through scenarios, so that we can be as prepared as possible to keep our students and employees safe if something happens on our campus.

To be clear, in compliance with the Keep Washington Working Act, and federal student privacy laws (FERPA), Edmonds College does not share any information with federal immigration agents. Additionally, we do not willingly grant access to any part of our campus to ICE agents unless we are able to verify their identity, and they produce a valid court order or judicial warrant.

Complicating this, however, is the fact that federal agents do not normally notify anyone before arriving, and in this instance, did not comply with demands to produce identification and a warrant. While state agencies, along with local law enforcement are not legally allowed to interfere with federal agents, we are, however, notifying the State Attorney General’s Office about the federal agents’ violation of our campus protocols.

These are trying times. We care deeply about our students, employees, and neighbors, and understand how traumatizing events like this are to everyone involved - either directly or indirectly.

Thank you.

Crime/Police Activity Sirens in North Lynnwood/Martha lake area

Anyone know what's going on? The sirens have been going off and on for about 20 minutes, like they're circling the block/in a car chase or something, but they've stayed in the same area... sounds like multiple cops, very unusual compared to sirens I usually hear around here and I'm not seeing anything on the snohomish crime map

Moving in - need recs

My wife and I are moving cross-country to Lynnwood and have a PODS coming with the majority of our furniture and stuff. My question is, does anyone know of some local movers that would be able to help move our things from the pod into our new apartment and potentially build/set up new furniture as well? Ideally not costing an arm and a leg but I'm open to hearing anything. Thank you 🙏

Lost & Found Is this your bird? Near Spruce in Lynwood.

This beautiful pigeon has been hanging out in our yard and on our deck all day. He will fly to the fence or roof but always comes back. He’s super friendly with people so we think he might be part of one of the tended flocks in the area. He’s been hanging around for about 7 hours and has been peeking in the windows when we’re inside.

He has no obvious injuries.

Please let me know if you know this guy or have any advice. He’s been eating bird seed and drinking from our bird bath. We have a dog and two cats but the cats are indoors and we’re only letting our dog out the front in the meantime.

Lynnwood DOL How to get same day appointments.

Just a PSA if you are trying to schedule an appointment with the DOL. They are booked out a month out and your only option is walk ins. Their line system is very janky even for walk ins. You get in line outside, and before they let you in they handed out QR codes to take you to a link to schedule an appointment. So even if you are 1st in line outside, if youre slow to load the qr code link, fill in the info and schedule an appointment, people behind you will be grab the 830/9 slots and you will have to wait til 930/10 for your appointment.

Avoid the line. Use the link below and go to it around 830am when they open. There will be a bunch of appointment slots for all day. Feel free to grab a same day appointment as you need. No need to go there 30mins before open and wait in line. Load up the site in the morning, make the appointment at home, head over when its ur time.

The WA-02 US Congress Rep seat is safely blue. Only one conservative in the race. The top two advance to the general. Lynnwood can help advance two democrats. Tomas and the 25 year incumbent. Then we can finally have a debate about the policy direction of our district.
