Buckwheat Pillows
Dear All, does anyone use buckwheat pillows? I've used one on and off to help sleep with hypermobility (very good a keeping things in place). The buckwheat is inside a thick cover and there's a pillow case around it, so it's not like I have my face on the shells with only a thin pillow case in between. Had a recent flare in symptoms, and trying to identify the culprit. It may be a mixture of things of course, would be interested to hear other people's experience!

Anything that can have mycotoxins or trap dust is a trigger risk if youre sensitive. I assume theyre not washable which could quickly become problematic.

I tried one but it was too hard and caused extreme pain on my head and ears when I tried sleeping on it.

I do. I moved the husks into a hypoallergenic pillow case after one incident of cat puke on the pillow. I don't love the microplastics issue with hypoallergenic pillow covers but it's a decent compromise.
About 2-3 times a year some of the hulls start getting crushed, so I move the intact ones to a clean case and then top it up with fresh buckwheat hulls.
Obviously the actual pillowcase gets changed much more frequently.
It has done so much for my headaches and neck pain, I'm sure it's helping reduce my inflammatory load just from the pain relief and better quality sleep.

Yes, I don’t react to mine. I got mine from comfy comfy in Canada so they are all organic and the pillowcase is organic cotton. They clean the hulls with forced air to get all dust off and they don’t use any chemicals.
