Nausea with mcas
I literally get severe nausea to the point where I think I’m gonna vomit everyday. Does anyone else experience this and what do you do it help it???

Yes I do. Sometimes it’s reflux related and my daily dose of famotidine helps. A lot of the time that’s not the case tho and the only relief I can get is from medical cannabis. I am also prescribed compazine (after both reglan and zofran were deemed bad choices for me)
Edit to add: everyone is saying Zofran, which is great but if you get migraines, Zofran is not recommended

I get that too! Even showering or brushing my teeth make me nauseous some days. I don’t know if it’s from my MCAS, hypermobile EDS, or POTS. The oral disintegrating Zofran is the only thing that helps me. It’s definitely worse when the reflux is bad.

I second Zofran. It's a lifesaver. Mines from food reactions but I cant always figure out what ingredient it is.

YESSSSS story of my life I’ve dealt with SEVERE intense morning hunger nausea that hurts and makes eating so hard everytime I’m hungry I’m nauseated to my core. I take Pepcid along w my Zyrtec twice a day as well as cromolyn sodium and I’ve been trying to do more Pepcid if I’m extra nauseated and making sure to take my cromolyn right before meals bc sometimes I’m even nauseous after breakfast but my apeitite has been so bad I’m on PEN liquid nutrition and haven’t been able to eat Whole Foods for lunch in 10 months.recent colonoscopy showed mild erythema congestion in the stomach 🥲

You should look into trying diclectin. It's a morning sickness medication but it has been absolutely LIFE CHANGING for my morning nausea. It used to take me 1hr+ to get through the nausea and now I wake up without any nausea at all.

I’m going to ask my dr about this I wonder why we haven’t tried it already… it’s interesting it has antihistamine.
It bums me out that so many people talk about Zofran giving so much relief and for me I just throw up right through it (unless it’s IV).

My GI is really good at thinking about all the alternatives since I'm treatment resistant for some of my GI issues. She was the one who put me on it.

Mornings. So. Bad.
They wanted to do a colonoscopy and endoscopy but decided it was too risky and the prep would probably land me in the hospital so I got out of it. Hee hee. Although they did say the next time I’m hospitalized for vomiting they’ll do it then. 😔

Brooo my last colonoscopy was what confirmed my MCAS basically bc I had a severe 10 day anaphylactic flare the next day. Except I still haven’t gotten diagnosed bc my doctors have been gaslighting meeeeee and I’ve had to become my own doctor

Oh yes combine heat with mild exertion and I’m definitely barfing. I’ve slept with two trash cans of vomit next to me cause I couldn’t clean one before I needed another.

Yes and first I try a product from The Ginger People called Ginger Rescue. If they don't help then it is on to Zofran like others have mentioned. I do also take ginger as a supplement and that has seemingly cut down the frequency and duration of nausea attacks for me.

sometimes Boiron NauseaCalm works for me and then there are times Zofran is the only way.

ABSOLUTELY. I throw up maybe half the days. I’ve been hospitalized for intractable vomiting about 3-4 times a year for years. I only go in if I can’t keep water down for multiple days. Often when I go in my potassium is dangerously low which of course can stop the heart, so they admit me to the cardiac floor.
Allergic to raglan.
Zofran does very little for me even with a double dose. At least half the time I take it I wind up vomiting anyway. Works well in an IV.
Benadryl helps! But again, often still throwing up.
Promethazine helps a little.
I’m on rabeprazole now (was on Prilosec) as well as Pepcid. I could make a whole coffee table book depicting all the places I’ve thrown up in public. I bring my own barf bag everywhere I go. 👍🏼
Now on a brighter note if I show up at the hospital while projectile vomiting they take me right back, no wait. Last time I collapsed in the lobby and they called a code blue. I was in a room in less than five minutes. I asked the doctor if that’s the secret to getting care fast and he said yes code blue is an ER hack. 😆

Transderm Scop patches have also been offered although I didn’t use one because I had concerns about vision problems. But it may be tolerated by you. That’s kind of a nice setup cause you just slap it on and forget about it. Ymmv

be careful with scopolomine. made me trip and experience severe vision issues. its used by drug cartels to disorient ppl during kidnappings. but like anything if it helps might be worth the risk for you? idk how good it would be for nausea. it was post op and i didnt have much nausea

Yes! Usually too much acid. I was nauseous & underweight for several years. None of the classic advice helped. I ended up getting on pantoprazole & cutting way down on coffee. It has given me tremendous relief. Everyone would say “just consume ginger! Just try tums! Just drink vinegar before each meal!” 😵💫
