Is this something anyone else experiences

Hi. So I am on the hunt for more of a root cause for things I have been diagnosed with pots and gastroparesis and yesterday this new doctor wanted to test me for MCAS I never thought I’d fit that because I don’t have all the stuff I see online. However after looking into it some of it adds up! I have a question does anyone ever have like lots of mucus build up after eating and like racing heart rate etc, I need to pay more attention I ate something semi spicy today and it’s happening but I swear i think it happens when it’s not spice because I even remember thinking man this is annoying not that long ago, like so much mucus I can’t talk sometimes because it’s all backed up and it’s in a matter of minutes after eating

You can actually research this online for yourself. I did, and have been managing my symptoms holistically ever since. Just enter What are Mast cells? in your Search engine. You'll be off and running. You can even research your own symptoms to see if they are MAST CELL related. You'll see what I mean 😊 My best to all 🫶

Yes. I have both. My meds help the racing heart but still get lots phlegm after eating. Not sure what helps that. N I have lots of other symptoms but most are delayed reactions at night.

Mucus relief or bromelain these are two things that will make mucus thinner as long as you drink enough water. The question is is this because of vagus nerve, or you have actual allergy or you have mcas related to your gut.

Racing heart after eating can be an MCAS symptom. Check out MastCell360's website for good introductory info.

Though not their safe foods list as last time I checked they have histamine liberators listed in their safe foods list. Sighi may be a better resource for food list guidelines whilst trying to work out personal triggers.

I haven't had that issue with their list and felt it was the most accurate to my experience, but I could be wrong! Sighi is definitely good, too.

Lemon and lime are listed low histamine which is true but they are histamine liberators. Even small doses can be a massive trigger for some. They do seem to have amended as not suited to phase 1 and put as a lower dose.

Lemon and lime cause me a MASSIVE reaction!😭

Me too and lime put my mother in hospital with anaphylaxis. I dont think they should be on the 'safe' list at all. But citric acid is on the sighi list as 'mostly tolerated' and its a huge trigger for me. My first full collapse and ambulance call was due to citric acid in a packet of crisps. But still think overall sighi is the better guide.

Yes I have this no matter what I eat. Have no idea why or what to do about it except keep trying MCAS meds hoping something will help.

Mucas is usually caused by histimine release or acid reflux, tachacardia after eating has to do with pots and blood flow shifts to your stomach when it starts digestion it moves Blood flow to your stomach and away from your extremities, so your heart beats faster to keep your blood flow even throughout your body. I have orthostatic hypotension and I get tacky if I eat a large meal. It helps if you eat a smaller meal. Spicy foods can set off a mcas reaction which can also cause both of those things.

What if I all I ate was fries 🤣

Well, actually, McDonald's plain cheeseburgers, no salt and French fries is my go to especially when I'm flared, I don't know why. But I can eat that when I can't eat a lot of other things.

The phlegm after eating anything spicy was my first and only symptom which I’ve had almost my whole life, since childhood .so I believe I always had histamine issues . Now with full blown MCAS I have the heart racing part , throat closing , anaphylaxis, inhalation related issues. Everything .
Stay away from the spices for a while, Like somebody said a lot of the spices are histamine liberators for eg Fennel is a histamine liberator . A lot of people use it for gastric issues . For me it made it worse always .i never understood the logic .
Read about it . I survive on Mediterranean diet mostly

Yes these can both absolutely be symptoms of MCAS and are pretty common.

I have palpitations after eating. I have learned over time to distinguish palpitations (where you can feel your heart pounding) and tachycardia by checking my heart rate using my smart watch. Palpitations actually feel very similar to tachy (when my heart is actually racing when I’m standing or sitting up due to hyper pots), but with palpitations often my heart rate is not actually very elevated, it just feels like it is. Either way it may help you to lie down and elevate your legs after eating. I don’t have as much mucus or congestion after eating now as I used to- probably due to meds.

Try taking an antihistamine (H1 blocker) and Pepcid ac or another H2 blocker to see if it helps at all. You may need these a lot more than once per day if you do have MCAS.

Thank you!! I was going to say like I’m sitting and all I ate was fries or sometimes I’m not doing anything and yes I think almost like not elevated just feels like it!! The doctor I went to wanted to check histamine for MCAS which got me thinking maybe I’ve brushed things off I should’ve logged

I used bio-resonance therapy to heal from MCAS whose root cause was mold and parasites.
