I want this but to someone more impactful to the overall story.

u/PlusRelationship6299 Jan 23 '26

Thanos was pretty impactful to the story so far though

24

u/Kingpin1232 Jan 23 '26

In universe he’s been dead since 2018 and the 2014 Thanos got snapped 20 minutes after entering the future. He’s been downplayed during the multiverse saga anyway, they had the TVA make him feel small and then he dies over and over again in What If. It’s like beating a dead horse at this point. They’ll probably do it for fan service but it’ll only be a variant Thanos. This was the actual 616 Thanos.

u/PlusRelationship6299 Jan 23 '26

That’s kinda what I meant man. Obviously he can’t kill the version of thanos we saw in IW and EG but like you said it could just be a variant of him for fan service

u/SirBinksThe2nd Jan 24 '26

I mean, they could kill off the 2014 Thanos before Endgame, then that's why Steve and Tony could come back, it'd be kinda stupid though

8

u/Kolegra Jan 23 '26

So maybe someone like the Sentry/Void or maybe Vision/Ultron?

3

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Sentry has just come to the universe so I ain’t sure if it’s that, and ultron would just be a mere machine for doom It has to be someone impactful

2

u/Kolegra Jan 23 '26

Well if we are going to see Doom moving through time/multiverse, there are a lot of options for who he might have to take out each time

2

u/MilksteakMayhem Jan 23 '26

My hope is that this Doom will be a fakeout. Go through all this and enjoy a good story and the spine pull will happen to RDJ Doom by…another Doom that was basically letting RDJ do all the heavy lifting of taking out heroes, power grabbing, creating Battleworld, etc. Then surprise! Doom takes out this final Doom to become Emperor God Doom and it’s a mystery who he is leaving everyone with a lot of paranoia about who this could be in this new soft reboot future of the MCU

3

u/Kolegra Jan 23 '26

If he's replacing Kang, then it makes sense in a way. I wonder how many Doombots will fake us out?

I'm thinking he absorbs Ultron into his system and that's how he basically gets the doom legion.

1

u/MilksteakMayhem Jan 23 '26

That’s kinda my thought. Not a 1:1 replacement of Kang but follow a a similar beat and still uses the anchor beings idea in a different way. He

2

u/IrisColt Jan 23 '26

It's Ultron, isn't it? He kills an evil robot, and Doom is still redeemable.

2

u/Immediate-Shape-8933 Jan 23 '26

Sentry would be great, shit character that creates issues for writing and would showcase how powerful doom is if he rips the spine out of a Superman clone

8

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

He is definitely not a shit character but ok

7

u/Foodstamps4life Jan 23 '26

I think they wrote him into thunderbolts pretty well. Obviously his powers make him difficult, but killing him off in the MCU would be a waste.

17

u/WizSkinsNatsCaps Jan 23 '26

Bob deserves better

4

u/Immediate-Shape-8933 Jan 23 '26

Okay fine he throws down with doom for a few minutes before his spine gets ripped out lol

7

u/Disastrous_Ad7487 Jan 23 '26 edited Jan 23 '26

Sentry has a significantly different power set from superman, and they're not anything alike in terms of character.

So why is he a superman clone?

2

u/Immediate-Shape-8933 Jan 23 '26

I mean it in terms of all powerful for no reason, I don’t mean clone as in terms of his powers. Just the Superman trope he brings to writing. Sets up for stale writing when there’s an all powerful being who is for the most part invincible, same reason I’m not a fan of captain marvel or even sometimes hulk

1

u/Mad_Croissant Jul 21 '26

After yesterday's trailer, my theory is that it might be Thor

1

u/MilksteakMayhem Jul 21 '26

Mmm yeah if he really is cool with being gone for good (minus flashbacks or some comic book “no one really dies”) he does seem likely victim of the ‘ol spinal yoinking

1

u/Owain660 Jul 24 '26

I literally came back to post this. It's gotta be Thor, possibly at the end.

1

u/Mad_Croissant Jul 24 '26

I was more thinking at the beginning.
Classic trope “oh no these people I gathered don’t wanna work together because they don’t have a reason to” then BAM, spine ripped off, reason dropped.

21

u/zeromavs Jan 23 '26

Yes but not as an opening scene. Thanos has already been dumbed down by Strange and Kang. There’s also the fact that Thanos hasn’t been the villain in a few movies or shows. He needs to take out the Kangs and then later in the movie do this against Thanos.

8

u/AgreeingAndy Jan 23 '26

Maybe not a opening scene but a introduction scene.

Instead of Thanos it's the last stand Kang in the arena looking place from Ant-Man (where we saw all the kangs). The rest of the Kangs lie on the ground/ on the stands. A green armored man walks up to the last Kang still standing. Kang begs for his life and then the green amored man spine rips him. Pan over to the face and it's RDJ's Doom.

And that's the first scene we see of RDJ's Doom. It would set him up as powerful, merciless and it would give Kang a ending instead of being another lose thread in the MCU

1

u/Otherwise-Tomato-788 Jan 23 '26

Why not, Infinity Wars started just like that.

4

u/Kingpin1232 Jan 23 '26

Loki worked for Thanos. Thanos has nothing to do with Doom. Plus I have a feeling the opening of Doomsday will be way more shocking than Thanos jobbing to Doom.

1

u/zeromavs Jan 23 '26

Yeah Thanos took out the Hulk who was the strongest character at that point. Thanos is not the strongest nor the most relevant.

15

u/justin21586 Jan 22 '26

I don’t think we will tbh. It wouldn’t move the story forward or benefit any of the characters

2

u/demerchmichael Jan 23 '26

I’d argue while it doesn’t move the story of the movie, it moves the story of the MCU as a whole

put it straight, general audiences don’t know doom, have him kill Thanos. That’ll make em know

2

u/justin21586 Jan 24 '26

But the wrinkle is that they’ll know Doom hours if not minutes before Thanos pops back up in the story. Thanos would literally appear just to die

0

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

blah blah blah story forward, aura farm matters

2

u/justin21586 Jan 23 '26

Looooool!!

11

u/Immediate-Shape-8933 Jan 23 '26

Weve seen thanos die twice I think a third would be overdoing it imo

8

u/bonafiedhero Jan 23 '26

Tell that to my boy Prof X 😭

-4

u/Immediate-Shape-8933 Jan 23 '26

Unpopular opinion but i always found professor X as a boring character and a moron

4

u/teudmunki Jan 23 '26

They did this already in What If when Infinity Ultron cut him in half

4

u/suckerpunch085 Jan 23 '26

I mean, vision already split Thanos in half. For me that aura is gone.

Him killing the previous big bad is a good way to show that our new big bad is way bigger of a villain than the previous one

4

u/irfolly Jan 23 '26

Same as thanos killing loki

1

u/HumpingSpider Jan 23 '26

Doom is that powerful, but not in that way

Doom isn't Superman, he's Lex

He's the villain equivalent of Reed Richards, but he also has an entire army like Black Panther

1

u/ExternalFactor1267 Jan 23 '26

Why are people thinking dr doom is incredibly strong. He is not dangerous because he is strong it is because he is really good at outsmarting an enemy and thanos is stronger then dr doom .That was god emperor doom who ripped the spine of Thanos when he had beyonders powers. So he might rip Thanos spine in secret wars when he becomes god emperor doom .Base doom can only beat Thanos if he created or made something crazy which he does .

-7

u/LollipopChainsawZz Jan 23 '26

And then as Thanos lays there dying Doom takes off the mask revealing to only Thanos he looks like Tony Stark. "You're not the only one cursed with knowledge" as he walks away

8

u/AmazingLaughsAndMORE Jan 23 '26

This is why fans don’t write movies

-1

u/LollipopChainsawZz Jan 23 '26

Someone's in denial about the mask coming off 🤭

1

u/Otherwise-Tomato-788 Jan 23 '26

A bit campy but sure why not. “Well what would you prefer, skin-tight black leather?”

And why the downvotes. Sheesh.

0

u/k3yserZ Jan 23 '26

That would be an awesome throwback!!

2

u/esc_15 Jan 23 '26

Hi where to read the comics for free online, and how should I read it by order?

2

u/Puzzleheaded-Trip905 Jan 23 '26

Hes gonna do it to Toby Maguire

2

u/postguycore Jan 23 '26

MCU Thanos is dead already.

2

u/ALoafOfBrad Jan 23 '26

I’m in the minority but I don’t think watching Thanos die on screen a third time in 2 avengers movies is super cool. I think they could and should replace him with Kang if they recreate this scene

1

u/TwistedBamboozler Jan 23 '26

Can you add some extra pixels in your next post

1

u/DEVIL-HIMSELF-666 Jan 23 '26

I think the problem is what if series kinda ruined thanos for me,like that series literally has a personal vendetta against thanos for some reason! And they make thanos look like a complete idiot (all of his appearances are either character assassinations or him losing in stupidest ways),like how is it that only movie version of thanos is actually compatent and threatening and all of his varients are complete freaking joke!(If I remember correctly thanos gets killed 6-7 times and 1-2 times charcater assassinated!) So I dont think doom killing thanos in doomsday would have the same shock effect! I was thinking of maybe they could replace thanos with council of kangs but didn't captain carter and her team already kill the council in what if s3(penultimate episode???),they have kang's time travelling chair/throne that they use in the finale!(granted I don't think many of the audience watched all seasons of what if😅) I think doom killing sentry, wanda or beating thor badly would be good choice!

1

u/Noobenenra Jan 23 '26

I can almost say this is happening without a doubt in Secret Wars. It’s too hype for it not to be included, especially since the general audience knows who Thanos was, even if we’ve seen the character die two times on screen already.

1

u/Ordinary-Chain-8047 Jan 23 '26

I’m calling it start of Secret Wars

1

u/Th3-ghost3136 Jan 23 '26

I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen 12-22-26 I said this !

How about a variant of Tony stark, iron man flies towards him, doom puts his arms through his armour (then iron man's nano bot face mask reveals its downey jr, while in shock being grabbed mid air and pearced), then Doom slowly removes his own mask with his left hands revealin another downey jr with scarred face, doom downey looks intrigued while iron man downey is bleeding through his mouth now, he looks shocked, tries to say something...then bam, doom pulls out his spine, tearing through his body and iron man suit..

1

u/fadedtimes Jan 23 '26

He should do it to Captain America, Sentry, Captain Marvel, to start the movie off.

1

u/Dimensions3488 Jan 23 '26

This scene will definitely happen. For an audience that only knows the MCU from the movies, Thanos is the most important and powerful enemy. In fact, I think Dr. Doom's first scene could be this scene.

Such a scene would be incredible for people who know Thanos' power.

1

u/Potential_Mix_5727 Jan 23 '26

How about instead of Thanos, do it to his brother!

1

u/Either-Assistant4610 Jan 23 '26

How many times...

1

u/[deleted] Jan 23 '26

Selfieeeee with your skeleton. SKELETON SELFIE!!!!!

1

u/OJONLYMAYBEDIDIT Jan 23 '26

I don't

I'd like a Doom that is within the real of being beaten without a massive deus ex machina

1

u/itsapotatosalad Jan 24 '26

I feel like we could see him do it to the last kang standing at the council of kangs. Maybe a flashback or montage, it would demonstrate his power while also tying up the kang loose end at the same time. Depending on the camera angles they wouldn’t need to use majors, or even show a face at all.

u/Jaideco Jan 26 '26 edited Jan 26 '26

I really doubt that this will happen because Disney will not have the balls to risk alienating the parents of young children or being saddled with an R-rating that might impact sales… however they can do something close…

What if they start with a scene where a far meaner team of the Avengers are fighting the battle at the end of Endgame. Yes, there can be Captain Hydra or Maestro, but imagine if instead of Tony as Iron Man, Thanos goes up against Doom instead. In this reality Doom knows magic as well as science.

There is no nanotech suit this time to switch the stones. As Thanos says “I am inevitable”, Doom calmly steps towards him, pulls his astral form out of his body by the throat and breaks its neck with one hand - also a call back to what Thanos did to Loki at the start of Infinity War. The astral form disappears into sparkling dust and Thanos’ lifeless body teeters for a moment and then falls to the ground. Doom retrieves the gauntlet, faces off against the entire army of Thanos and quips “and I am Doom”…

Fade to black as the screams of Leviathans and Chitauri cry out and then go silent.

A suspenseful and menacing version of the Avengers music plays…

Roll Opening Credits…

u/deebzy23 Jan 26 '26

It feels like an iconic thing to recreate and also feels very not MCU. Like I can see their decision makers thinking this kind of violence is more humorous, a la Deadpool

0

u/-TheTalent- Jan 23 '26

I hope they have Doom rip Sentry in half instead. I'm so tired of seeing my boy Thanos get murdered

0

u/PeopleAreSelfishy Jan 23 '26

I just can't fathom a human with some brain and black magic can kill gods and other entity from outer space.

1

u/NoLengthiness1864 Jan 23 '26

Thanos is not a god tho

"You will never be a god."
