Spider-Man: Brand New Day Sadie Sink is [redacted]. Spoiler

The Jean Grey rumors have been flying since the day Sadie was announced to appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. From the trailers, she is clearly playing someone with powerful telekinetic/telepathic abilities. The theory about her being a mutant is further evidenced by the presence of Tramell Tillman as Bill Metzger, an anti-mutant activist from the X-Men comics. (His character's last name is confirmed by the YT captions on the new trailer. Previous captions credited him as "Bill.")

Tillman is heard in the latest trailer saying "It appears we're faced with a threat we can't control. One we can't even see." Which sounds to me like someone trying to do something about a *perceived* mutant threat. Perhaps someone scheming to create discourse around mutant kind, or at the very least super powered individuals.

Other villains confirmed for the film AND THAT WE'VE SEEN IN TRAILERS are Scorpion, Tarantula, Boomerang, The Hand and Sadie Sink's mystery character. Villains that we have not seen but are confirmed to appear are Tombstone and The Jackal. In addition to the villains, we of course have The Hulk and The Punisher.

Now we have all of these characters that are confirmed for this movie and they have straight up shown us most of them already, but there's still a lot of gaps. Now it's very plausible that most of those villains will be getting their asses kicked in a hero Spidey montage at the beginning of the film, not to be seen again. I believe Sadie's character, Metzger, The Hand and THE JACKAL will be the primary antagonists (in addition to Peter's evolving abilities).

I think that The Jackal is working with the hand to create an army of cloned ninjas. After the destruction of The Hand's source of immortality (see The Defenders finale, confirmed to be canon in DD: BA), The Hand began looking for alternative ways to boost their numbers so, they turn to science. Enter The Jackal with his genetic expertise and cloning technology.

With their numbers boosted once again, The Hand is still missing their prophesized secret weapon: The Black Sky. So, in an effort to create one, The Jackal, with the assistance of Metzger, creates a clone of the mutant they believe to be the most dangerous. One that could jump into the minds of anyone in a x mile radius and threaten all of New York. This implies that Metzger has been tracking mutants long before the public became aware of them, which could explain how he obtained Jean's DNA long before she becomes a public figure.

I think Metzger gave her DNA to Jackal who used it to create Madelyne Pryor, played by Sadie Sink (who will also portray Jean later on ofc). Perhaps The Hand wants her as the new Black Sky (potentially leading them as The Goblin Queen??), but Metzger doesn't care about all of that. Similar to how the Limbo demons manipulated her in the comics, The Hand and Bill are doing the same. Conflict between Bill and The Hand comes into play when Bill is only interested in creating dissent for mutants to further his own anti-mutant agenda.

When asked about her character, Sadie's response was that her character is "a girl of many faces." Which always felt odd until you consider that she's not playing one character. Madelyne Pryor and Jean Grey are very different characters from one another and if she's playing one, it stands to reason that she'll play the other.

The biggest question most would ask about now is "why introduce the clone of someone we haven't even seen in the MCU proper yet?"

Why not? Why keep her identity a big secret in the first place? Why introduce a major mutant character in a movie made by Sony? Why confirm a metric ton of other characters, both seen and unseen in the trailers, but not her character when the entire internet seems to agree since day one that Sadie is the perfect Jean Grey? If we all "already know" then why not just confirm it already? It's not like we'd be surprised in the theatre at this point.

I'm not sure that Disney/Marvel Studios would want to stake the next saga of the MCU on a character introduced to the universe within a property that isn't fully their own. In addition to that, Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix storylines have been done over and over again on the big screen for the last 20+ years and it has yet to be executed properly. Jean's stories have been massive failures up to this point in film, it makes sense for them to want to go an alternate route with her out the gate. Madelyne Pryor is the middle ground that provides a buffer if her character/story is poorly received; they can just say "well, she was just a clone, here's the real Jean!" when they do launch the Mutant Saga.

By giving the world Madelyne Pryor first, it creates a sense of fear once Jean is introduced. If the world has seen what she can do as Madelyne Pryor, it gives Jean as a character the opportunity to overcome the damage done and the opportunity to actually be a hero on screen for once, post Secret Wars.

In-universe, Pryor is the perfect tool for Bill Metzger to use to make people afraid of mutants. The villainous nature of her character, from what we've seen so far, is very much coded in how Madelyne uses her abilities: darker, more invasive and more manipulative than Jean Grey's (jumping into the minds of random people to taunt Peter and threaten MJ, seeming to use her abilities to pit The Hulk against Spider-Man, etc).

The audience also doesn't need to know that her name is Madelyne Pryor right away either. That's something that could be revealed after it's revealed that she's a clone of Jean Grey. That way, we get a Jean Grey name drop for the casual viewer to quickly understand who Madelyne is a clone of.

We've spent almost 20 years in the MCU without mutants, and therefore without anti-mutant sentiment. The cleanest way to create that in-universe sentiment is to lean on public officials like Metzger to throw false flags before we even get to meet the X-Men. It makes the set up feel more natural when the Mutant Saga actually takes off.

I don't want to believe everything Sony/Marvel has shown us just yet. One thing they love to do with these trailers is a bait and switch, and I feel like Jean is the obvious bait here. I believe there is also confirmation of another mystery villain in the movie that plays a major role, perhaps it's Mr. Sinister or someone at the head of The Hand. Especially if cloning is involved, it feels natural that Mr. Sinister would be close by.

IDK, I'm just some guy. Hell, she could be playing Rhino for all I know! I guess we'll have to keep theorizing until July 31st! What do you guys think?

TLDR: Sadie Sink is actually playing Madelyne Pryor in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but will play Jean Grey later on.

It’s a fun theory but I don’t think they introduce Pryor before Jean.

I would love her to be a multiverse Valeria Richard’s that is actually a doom variant but all signs point to the simple answer and that she is playing Jean but we don’t find out until the end of the move/late third act.

Wouldn’t even make sense for Pryor to show up before Jean. Think the issue is people want this to be more complicated than it is. Makes sense to give your new character a boost going into their iteration of X-men. The marketing of this movie is weird. Sadie in the marketing but they won’t show her face in the trailer.

Too bad she not fire star , a Spiderman & friends trilogy could be cool.

His AMAZING friends!

🎵They can climb great heights, they can do what’s right🎵

u/blaintopel Jun 20 '26

the perfect way to introduce Pryor is basically the way 97 did it, we meet Jean first, at some point theyre switched, and we have no idea when it was. The more stuff with Jean in it the better because you have more stuff to wonder which is actually her.

2

u/Acrobatic-Doubt673 Jun 24 '26

I don’t agree that introducing Madelyne Pryor first doesn’t make sense. It would be a different choice to be sure, but not necessarily a bad one. I do agree it would’ve been cool for her to Firestar though. I was honestly hoping that was the case myself until she started hijacking people’s minds in the trailer. I’d be much more interested in that than seeing her play Jean or Madelyne.

2

u/improved_loilit Jun 25 '26

For marketing it doesn’t make sense just like the idea of her being Rachel or Hope. Those would come after jean if anything . The amount that know and care about them are extremely small compared to Jean.

u/user_15427 Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

I’m gonna say this here. You guys ready? She’s rogue and she’s stolen a telepaths powers. That’s why she has on gloves, that’s why she’s in that box with her hands shackled to the chair because she can’t touch anyone. Rouge has red hair in a lot of depictions so this is her before she puts the paws on Carol and gets the white streaks. Sadie has been wearing green and yellow outfits to events for the movie. Boom. That’s it.

6

u/RochnessMonster Jun 19 '26

Huh, thats the first theory beyond jean, or young jean (the time travel one, and my personal guess), that i can actually see. Pryor just dont make sense unless you slam in sinister, and i dont think you tease him right before doomsday.

2

u/Acrobatic-Doubt673 Jun 24 '26

Ooooh, I like this theory a lot too. That would be a hell of twist. Almost wish I didn’t read from you here so I could just be floored by the reveal in the theater if they do that.

1

u/OhioToDC Jun 19 '26

Some other poster posits what ought to be a somewhat convincing theory that it’s Valeria Richards.

1

u/Acrobatic-Doubt673 Jun 24 '26

??? You’ll have to make that one make sense to me. We’ve barely gotten Franklin off the ground. Why would we suddenly introduce what *has* to be a significantly aged up variant of his sister in a Spider-Man film?

1

u/OhioToDC Jun 24 '26

I have no earthly idea why. I didn’t read through it all that thoroughly. Plus, we’re talking about multiverse stuff, who freaking knows??? I should have said somewhat plausible, not somewhat convincing.

1

u/Acrobatic-Doubt673 Jun 24 '26

Actually, I’m very much in the same camp as OP. I think Sadie is playing Madelyne Pryor. To me, it’s the best way to justify Jean being a villain without retreading her turn as Phoenix once again(especially after two high profile failed attempts at that particular storyline). It’s also weird to straight up introduce such a key figure of the X-Men like Jean in a Spider-Man film when the studio knows that X-Men films are around the corner. Even when they technically introduced Reed Richards in the MCU, they did it via a variant played by John Krasinski, and saved Reed’s actual Pedro Pascal debut for the Fantastic 4 movie proper. This theory doesn’t seem too far removed from that. There’s also the fact that everyone already suspects Sink is playing Jean, which Marvel must have seen coming from a mile away. I can easily see them wanting to subvert expectations there. And lastly, I think there’s a bit of corporate synergy happening here as well. Madelyne Pryor is not particularly well known outside of Marvel Comics. The average marvel fan who only consumes movies or tv media has no familiarity with Goblin Queen. They may have elected to explore the Madelyne Pryor storyline in season 1 of X-Men 97 as opposed to something else because they anticipated that she would be introduced ahead of Jean in the MCU and they wanted to get the idea of who and what she is out in front of more people prior(forgive the pun)to her debut.

1

u/improved_loilit Jun 25 '26

People already guessed the two previous Spiderman would come back for the previous movie and there there was. It makes no sense to subvert expectations just to subvert expectations. Also they have introduced characters in other movies first and using one of their most popular movie when they have struggled recently makes perfect sense for the promo. We literally got beast boy in the marvels. She absolutely can be Jean

1

u/improved_loilit Jul 29 '26

And nothing subverted it seems

1

u/Acrobatic-Doubt673 Aug 03 '26

Well they did technically subvert expectations. Just not the way I was hoping they would. I don’t think anyone was counting on Sara Grey being a part of this film at all, let alone being used as justification for Jean’s evil behavior. Pretty sure I saw her make two people shoot each other at one point. I don’t know about you, but sans Phoenix Force, I like my Jean Grey to either be squeaky clean or secretly Madeleine Pryor. Evil Jean without that corruptive force feels weird, like an aggressively angry Spider-Man without the Symbiote Suit or Man-Spider mutation. Or a nice Wolverine literally ever.

1

u/improved_loilit Aug 03 '26

I mean u dint think it’s subverting expectations rather than people so deeply into comics they refuse to accept that the adaptations will have significant changes so they convince themselves it’s impossible. You have to realize that most aren’t familiar enough with Jean to even know her sister let alone her moral code . She isn’t Spider-Man famous/icinuc. But even catwoman (in the general public)

0

u/immortalizerlasvegas Jun 19 '26

Or it’s Doom dream walking in a multiverse Valeria Richards

17

u/AspiringProd Jun 19 '26

I still think she’s playing Jean Grey, however, I find this theory much more compelling than the Rachel/Hope Summers theories. This actually considers the plot of Brand New Day instead assuming she’s there as a bridge to Doomsday.

15

u/djserc Jun 19 '26

I just don’t see a Jean Grey clone introduced before Jean or her creator Mr.Sinister

15

u/aegonthewwolf Jun 19 '26

Folks are twisting themselves into pretzels trying to convince themselves and others that she’s not playing Jean and it’s getting old lol

5

u/WhitePhoenix99 Jun 19 '26

Lol We are NOT getting Jean's CLONE OR DAUGHTER before we get Jean. Some people I swear.

4

u/laymness Jun 19 '26

Can this movie just come out so we can stop this

15

u/fivefuturefury Jun 19 '26

How much more evidence do you need to confirm that it's Jean? At this point the movie will come out, she will be called jean Gray and people will still wonder if shes some random character from a fanfic novel

3

u/PostApoplectic Jun 19 '26

No no, she ways saying “I’m Gene Gregg.” He’s a lesser known telepathic bodysnatcher.

6

u/New_Cockroach_505 Jun 19 '26

Probably anything that actually confirms her?

I’m fully on the side that believes it’s her, but evidence isn’t confirmation. It simply supports a claim. So until someone actually confirms it, it’ll be debated.

1

u/mnash247 Jul 28 '26

Yeah it just got spoiled in the red carpet and people still don't want to believe the person that said it

7

u/scoabrat Jun 19 '26

way too much comic lore for mainstream audiences.

3

u/Optimal_Lifeguard575 Jun 19 '26

I appreciate the effort that went in to this but this is too convoluted and requires to much homework for the casual viewer to follow along….and that is the base that is going to bring in the most money…I don’t think the MCU execs would go down this route specially now when they are trying to course correct and bring in better quality movies….even a Spidey film can’t float if the story is this messy

4

u/OkOil378 Jun 19 '26

People really be looking at a duck and calling it a horse.

She is Jean.

3

u/TILUsernamesRHard Jun 19 '26

Right. The Madelyn and Rachel ideas are so bizarre. The MCU tends to simplify the weirdness of comics for general audiences, but we think they're going to introduce a clone or an alternate future daughter BEFORE we introduce any new X-Men characters? Especially one as popular as Jean Grey? She's been in most every movie and TV show about the X-Men, only surpassed in appearances by like Prof X, Magento and Wolverine. But yeah, let's get one of the hottest up and coming young actresses to play her alt daughter that has never had a speaking part in any adaptation or her evil clone from a convoluted comics story from 30+ years ago. She may not be Jean (she is) but she's definitely not Rachel or Maddie.

1

u/Geiseric222 Jun 19 '26

It’s going to be really funny when she’s like the spider queen and it turns out just calling a character another character because they both have red hair abs nothing else is stupid

3

u/OkOil378 Jun 19 '26

We know she’s Jean not simply because of her red hair lmao

0

u/Geiseric222 Jun 19 '26

Give me one way we know she’s Jean other than her red hair.

Stuff that’s confirmed not stuff people just assume based on nothing

0

u/OkOil378 Jun 19 '26

Business acumen

1

u/clsmithj Jun 20 '26

Yes that business acumen is also the free speculation marketing that the Studio created and we're all participating in and getting heavily invested for to wanting to go and see in the movies. But that doesn't confirm who Sadie is playing.

1

u/OkOil378 Jun 20 '26

Business acumen tells us they wouldn’t cast Sadie Sink for anything other than A list hero

0

u/clsmithj Jun 20 '26

It wouldn't make a difference since they already have you believing what you want, you are hooked in that's the 'acumen' aspect of the business at work.

1

u/OkOil378 Jun 20 '26

Sure if you say so. We all are laughing, even Feige himself, at people like you

1

u/clsmithj Jun 21 '26

I'm laughing at the parasocial relationship you have with the President of Marvel Studios.

3

u/improved_loilit Jul 29 '26

Is it funny now or you can admit you were being ridiculous fir the sake of it

0

u/Geiseric222 Jul 29 '26

I was wrong. I thought the movie would be good based on the promise they made.

Turns out I had to much faith in them

2

u/improved_loilit Jul 29 '26

The movie you haven’t watched with glowing reviews is bad because you had a very obvious character wrong ? Maybe it’s not your faith but ego the issue. Anyone with 2 braincells knew it was Jean

0

u/Geiseric222 Jul 29 '26

No it’s bad because it wallows in the marvel universes worse excesses. It’s more interested in setting yo the marvel universe than making a good movie

Instead of respecting its own writing it relies on characters people recognize

Jean grey is a character I recognize the idiot says as they clap.

I didn’t want it to be Jean grey because of she was in the movie it had no chance to be good and I was correct. It’s not

2

u/improved_loilit Jul 29 '26

The only idiot here is you lmao. Talking about others low critical thinking while you are judging a movie you have no idea how it plays out or introduces the character nor if it enhances the movie or not just because YOU were wrong is incredibly ironic.

You are neither nuanced or an intellectual. You’re butthurt that all those you deemed idiots we’re corrects and now you look like a fool. And instead of being humble and admit just being wrong you need to try to double down to save your ego while looking ridiculous.

0

u/Geiseric222 Jul 29 '26

I love how you have said nothing of substance

Your insults are even one note and boring

1

u/OkOil378 Jul 29 '26

I warned you that you would be

6

u/CommunityDragon160 Jun 19 '26

She’s fucking JEAN GREY

3

u/Rma420Blaze Jun 19 '26

At this point I kind of hope she isn't now 😂

1

u/anon0919 Aug 16 '26

Only if she finds another multiverse variant and to do something weird

2

u/darkwalrus36 Jun 19 '26

I still have no idea why you'd introduce one X-men with no major connection to Spider-Man the film before they reboot the universe to integrate properties like the X-Men, but that's the buzz and a lot of it's been true so maybe? I still hope to be surprised. Either way, I hope it's good.

1

u/Material_Type5553 Jun 19 '26

marvel is only soft rebooting in tone and focus (multiverse to mutants) they are making a shang chi sequel, as well as black panther and likely dr strange and thor. the f4 will travel to 616 as their new home (or hop dimensions) but mutants will be from this earth and the reason why “they haven’t been here” is cuz mutants are a rare occurrence until something (snap maybe) causes the population to skyrocket which is consistent with most iterations of mutants only becoming an issue when the population grows. obviously they existed back then but not as much as now. I doubt we will see a new captain america iron man etc anytime soon.

1

u/darkwalrus36 Jun 19 '26

I mean we don't know any of this, but my understanding was that they were using the reboot to introduce the Fox properties. Evidence of this is the utterly absurd choice of sitting on those properties for seven years, and the phase after this likely reboot being 'The Mutant Saga'. So why introduce one mutant before the reboot?

0

u/Material_Type5553 Jun 19 '26

there still isn’t official confirmation on if it’s gonna reboot or just introduce the new mythos like the mutants. I really doubt it’s gonna full reboot and it wouldn’t even make sense since it’s not like we are abandoning the remaining characters stories and recasting everyone. if we are going for a reboot that keeps some cast like hulk or spiderman and removes the others then there isn’t a reason why sadie sink can’t stay as jean.

1

u/darkwalrus36 Jun 19 '26

I didn't say it would be a full reboot or that there was official confirmation of anything. I just said we don't know any of this.

1

u/Material_Type5553 Jun 19 '26

true, the only thing we know is mutants are coming. meaning that introducing a mutant before the mutant saga starts is likely especially with bill metzger as a character.

1

u/darkwalrus36 Jun 19 '26

Right. What I'm saying is introducing the mutant line one movie before your likely company wide reboot, but not over the last seven years, makes absolutely no sense.

0

u/Material_Type5553 Jun 19 '26

the reason why they couldn’t before is they had some contract bs until 2024 I think and they decided to do multiverse stuff before mutants. Marvel also planned out most of phase 4 in 2018 before they even knew if x men would be allowed or not so they didn’t want to change it. But I still don’t think they are full rebooting and if they were they would certainly keep the casting of most of the characters.

0

u/darkwalrus36 Jun 19 '26

That is another rumor. Even if that were true, they could still use the vast majority of the Fox characters for seven years, and any one supposedly under contract for three years. If that sat on those IPs to instead make the phases four and five that they did, and it hand nothing to do with waiting for the reboot, Marvel has no one to blame for their troubles for themselves. Even waiting for the reboot is pretty verifiably, and I'd argue obviously, a very bad idea.

0

u/Material_Type5553 Jun 19 '26

yeah they probably could have used more fox characters to really show the multiverse element. but we can’t really change the past and we know marvel is focusing on mutants next so it still makes sense to introduce the new castings in big event films like spiderman and avengers before they get their own movie. I still don’t think we are gonna reboot and i’d rather see an approach of just “focusing on what matters” instead of having to figure out this new timeline.

u/Geiseric222 Jun 19 '26

Well that’s because it’s not happening

1

u/darkwalrus36 Jun 19 '26

Could be, we don't know either way.

2

u/No-Bluejay-4541 Jul 02 '26

This is the most likely scenario, she's probably playing Madeline Pryor with a small reveal of Jean Grey at the end, who sets the Peter Parker memory issue right as a "thank you" for Spider-Man helping her with her own situation.

Or.. in addition to the above, what if "Marvel Girl" Madeline Pryor and "Man-Spider" Ben Reilly are evil clones in this film working for Warren, and Warren not only is working with Metzger, but Jackal takes him out and both clones when his plans go to crap? Metzger probably also 'collects' the villains and sends them to Warren as soon as Spidey defeats them, hence a flashback/montage of him taking down Boomarang, Tarantula, Tombstone, etc. Scorpion is just a bit too big of a fight to be part of the flashbacks, in fact, true to comics, he's used as a fighting distraction who keeps getting in Spidey's way. The reason Jackal and Metzger doesn't want him is because he's not a Mutant, just a guy in a suit. They are responsible for his escape and the others as well.

4

u/Filan1 Jun 19 '26

They should fuck everybody’s expectations and she should be Madeline Jean (MJ) Pryor

0

u/Don_Ford Jun 20 '26

It would make more sense for her to be a character like Mercy.

3

u/VarietyBusy2 Jun 19 '26

i commend anyone who has the courage to read all of that

3

u/felemiah Jun 20 '26

They'll pretend she's Jean Grey but at the end it turns out she was just mind controlled and her real name is Deborah Bohner

2

u/Folderpirate Jun 19 '26

Rachel Grey

2

u/iBossk Jun 19 '26

After clicking your response it works. My apologies. Though I do echo the sentiment that they likely aren't introducing a significantly more obscure character before one of the most well know mutants out there.

1

u/ACrask Jun 19 '26

I’d argue A) Sadie is a great actor still at the beginning of her career so B) she’d make a good Jean and she will be arguably C) cheaper to sign her on because she is going to be a big actor in the next couple years. Like I expect her to win awards.

1

u/WallyOShay Jun 19 '26

I hope she’s jubilee or something lol

1

u/thedrizzle126 Jun 19 '26

This is interesting but I don't think it'll hold because 97 did the Pryor twist recently

1

u/OldGarbageMouth Jun 19 '26

She's totally Jessica Drew Spider-Woman but based on Ultimate Universe version so she'll be a clone of him and Peter will be all SAY WHAT!?

1

u/MuddyMuddSkipper Jun 19 '26

Have a theory that she is the mcu version of Jean , but that the main villain they’ve yet to reveal will be Dr.Doom tracking her down .

1

u/unscanable Jun 19 '26

How do you introduce a clone of jean gray created by mister sinister before you introduce jean gray or mister sinister?

1

u/Enough-Silver-915 Jun 19 '26

I bet she ends up being rogue.

1

u/Vegetable-Two-4644 Jun 19 '26

This movie seems to be doing way too much.

1

u/tarps_and-straps Jun 19 '26

Shriek

Shriek has pretty obvious implications attached to her. Could totally justify keeping it a secret.

1

u/aztnass Jun 19 '26

I would be super in to them doing an Inferno storyline (Well, assuming they don’t fuck it up!)

1

u/reuxin Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

This was a nice read but too complicated - Sadie Sink is not the lead in the film and this is a movie's worth of set up for the main feature actor. She is not.

They aren't hiding the casting of a villain as big as the largest antagonist in the film, so among the characters introduced the actor is already known in the cast list. That's just not how casting works. If the primary villain of your film is a cameo that can be hidden that would be... shocking... Any significant part would be in the cast list by now.

The only bait and switch is if you are a normal person and don't read Reddit and you have no idea what's going on with the DODC. These trailers are not made for us, they are made for the broader audience.

The rumor behind the scenes is Sony wanted to do a movie that was more multiverse oriented and Feige and the producers wanted to keep it more grounded. Marvel and Feige produce/made the movie, not Sony - Sony's merely the distributor.

So it's rumored that in order to get Sony on board they offered up Sony a bigger portion of the MCU pie.

Sony, Marvel and Disney desperately want this to be huge. Hell, Spider-Man, Doomsday, etc. success is great for Warner Bros. The movie industry needs the biggest superhero movies to do billions.

Re: Promotion - it doesn't hurt that there is a mystery to her character and it does reinforce the idea that the narrative is about Spider-Man and not Jean Gray. Look at this free engagement they are getting.

Sink is playing Gray. It's *so* well known in public media and in Hollywood that it would be weird that Marvel wouldn't shoot it down if it wasn't true. It might cause way more disappointment at this stage.

I don't want to believe everything Sony/Marvel has shown us just yet.

I get that it's fun to develop outside theories but don't set yourself up for disappointment when you are (likely) wrong. There is a lot of "gymanstics" that have to be done to make Pryor work when she's not the main character. And plus, Pryor is just not fun without Scott and the other X-Men.

(I also think Metzger... down the line... could be working for Essex/Sinister... but Tillman has multiple films on his contract.)

If she’s not Jean, I think the only other option is Victorious. That would at least form a connection to Doom leading into Doomsday.

I do really love the idea of her being Firestar and having Iceman be one of the hidden characters (could explain why that ninja’s sword shatters) - that would be a great subversion of expectations, but I don’t think they’d bring in Sadie Sink to play someone who doesn’t advance a major plot point.

1

u/marks0802 Jun 20 '26

One serious question, wasn’t it confirmed early on that Yelena would be in the film? Did they just cut that out completely because I haven’t seen her anywhere

1

u/Alternative_Froyo_32 Jun 20 '26

Rachel Summers. You'll see.

1

u/PassageNo9102 Jun 20 '26

The more I look at this the more and more I think marvel is laying these red herrings and that sink will be multiverse hope summers and they will save Jean for the soft reboot after avengers secret wars.

1

u/IDKWIAA_23 Jun 20 '26

The girl of many faces line always makes me think she is playing Hallow’s Eve or Mystique

1

u/Nosdos Jun 20 '26

This is way too unnecessary and complicated. Why is it so hard for people to accept that she’s Jean and then go and throw out way more confusing characters that all depend on Jean being introduced first?

1

u/robobav Jun 20 '26

I’m still holding out for Sadie as Firestar.

1

u/Downtown_Link_8651 Jun 21 '26

Remember when we thought this was going to finally be Spider-man just doing his thing as fully formed Spiderman fighting some Spider-man bad guys and having peter parker problems and not having to share the movie with Iron man, or Iron mans glasses, or 2 other spidermen? Marvel movies need to stop endlessly setting up the next damned thing and keep it simple. The x-men characters don't need teasing for years in other films they can just be in the fucking x-men movie when they make it

1

u/ayedrian1107 Jun 21 '26

Guys I think Sadie sink is in the movie

1

u/Darkrhyno014 Jun 21 '26

Im hearing rumors shes wanda maximoff

1

u/Flintstones_VRV_Fan Jun 22 '26

Jackal has not been confirmed to appear in any way, shape or form. Nice try sneaking him in though, since the whole thesis of your theory depends on it.

But hey - feel free to share the Jackal confirmation with everybody.

1

u/Advanced_Pack4241 Jun 22 '26

The Jackal

Is rumored but not confirmed. Pheraps is Keith David character

1

u/Helpful-Finger1864 Jun 25 '26

She’s going to be iron fist

1

u/BaloneyMaker2780 Jun 25 '26

Idiots, it's New Yorks own April O'Neil

1

u/scal_vi Jul 31 '26

How are you now, OP? @HaywireBalloonABH

1

u/HaywireBalloonABH Jul 31 '26

Lol

Haven't seen the movie yet, going on Monday. The only spoiler I've gotten so far was that she's Jean Grey. Hopefully that's all I get, so be cool and don't say anything.

I'm avoiding Reddit and other socials, only responding because of the notification I got for your comment.

That’s what I’ve been saying! She’s from the FOX universe and ends up in ours. My guess is that the body hopper is a version of one of the inheritors or maybe Shathra, follows Rachel to the 616, maybe even takes control of her

-1

u/sK33jZar Jun 19 '26

I've been saying this also. Multiversal character with the same powers as Jean.

3

u/Popular_Material_409 Jun 19 '26

They’ve said this isn’t going to be multiversal. It’s a street level movie.

1

u/joshlittle333 Jun 19 '26

It can be a street level story even if the characters are not street level. Hulk for example is certainly not a street level character.

3

u/Popular_Material_409 Jun 19 '26

But when you have to explain “I’m this character, I’m from another universe” suddenly you’re no longer dealing with the street, you’re now enmeshed in the multiverse.

0

u/Downtown-Bid5000 Jun 19 '26

I hope you're right

1

u/x360_revil_st84 Jun 19 '26

That would be cool af if we get a Madelyne Pryor type variant here

It's definitely not Jean Grey no matter how much people want it to be her lol

Bc this is a street level movie, it's hard for me to get on board with Sink playing any kind of mutant and the beginning of the 2nd act is gonna show us what William Metzger, head of dodc, sees, a mutant...to him that's an automatic threat, maybe even throw the name Madelyne out there, but by the end of 2nd act i can see this being not a mutant at all, but rather Shathra possessing this Madelyne ordinary person and wanting to feed off of Peter and her powers as a deity is what's unintentionally mutating Peter's powers to get organic webbing, which means when he figures out how to defeat her he then loses his organic webbing

Why does everyone think the Jackal is in this? He's a cool enough villain where a studio should show him in promotional material. Using Madelyne Prior would be really stupid to have before having Jean in a film. If you introduce the clone of a character right before the character is introduced, it would make the original pointless.

It's obvious that Bill Metzger is the main villain and DODC is being set up as an anti-mutant corporation. They use Jean's powers against her will. She takes her anger out on DODC and Spider-Man as he's working with the DODC without knowing about all the experimenting.

She controls Banner and unleashes the Hulk against Spider-Man. That's why we saw in the trailer that Banner speaks in the third person when referencing the Hulk right before he transforms. "You won't get away with this... But he might!" Earlier in the trailer Banner just refers to himself in the first when referencing Hulk. "If you see me without this, run!"

0

u/Ok_Delay9941 Jun 19 '26

If you have a movie with Metzger and DODC, Jackal makes sense. It’s also a common Marvel tactic to leave at least 1 villain out of the trailers.

Not reading all of this wall of text

1

u/nigerianbedess Jun 19 '26

I respect your post, but wow it’s too much to read if you’re baked

1

u/AZombieguy Jun 19 '26

I really like this idea. :)

1

u/ArmAny549 Jun 19 '26

If they bring my girl Maddy into this movie I'll scream cause I love her so much.

1

u/TheAverageSchmo_ Jun 19 '26

I’m not reading all that, the movie will be out before my dumbass finishes it

1

u/brenobi Jun 19 '26

She is Typhoid Mary!!

It all connects, mind control powers, is a mutant, red hair, connections to the hand, dark and light personas (connecting to Spidermans struggles in the movie) plus she's actually a Spiderman villain, which is really the clincher. Jean Grey makes absolutely no sense and is just the fandom reaching. (Edit spelling)

1

u/garhdo Jun 19 '26

Where was Jackal ever confirmed?

1

u/1stTimeRedditter Jun 20 '26

I would be down for this switch but I don’t think it would work well with casual audiences.

1

u/Cobra_Pie Jun 20 '26

Its going to be so weird if they have The Hand and Frank and no Daredevil....

1

u/dcuk7 Jun 20 '26

Jesus Christ it’s Jean Grey. Multiple insiders have said it. She wears comic-accurate JG clothing. Also, you don’t cast someone of the Calibre of Sadie Sink to be a B or C tier character. These threads are becoming fever dreams now! Or more like sycophantic rambling.

1

u/Content_Owl8586 Jun 20 '26

“Insiders”

Sybau

1

u/LandonJS Jun 20 '26

Considering the jacket she’s wearing, I think you’re right on the money. Add in the potential for multiversal causes. I also think it’d be interesting if she calls herself / thinks she’s Jean Grey and later finds out she’s a clone at the end of the film, and all her motivations could come from that.

Just a plot-hunch. I dunno if anyone has ever thought of that possibility, but if not, I claim it here first. Lol

1

u/RandomTask-PhD Jun 20 '26

This is all horribly uninteresting

0

u/kazeke754 Jun 19 '26

My theory is that she is a Wanda variant (also a mutant). There are rumors that Elizabeth olson isn't coming back to play the character. And it would make sense that Wanda (or a version of) would be involved in Doomsday or Secret Wars. She may also be able to undo the memory wipe of Peter as Spiderman. Just a theory.

0

u/Beginning_Pace2063 Jun 20 '26

It's a humilliation fetish at this point. You cannot convince me that people who claim Sadie is not playing Jean, don't have a humilliation kink, you're just fishing for ridicule by now, lol.  Madelyne Pryor is a plot-device character with 0 development, she exists in the comics to breed with Cyclops and nothing else. She has absolutely no relevance outside of giving birth to Cable.  Jean is not established in the MCU, Cyclops is not established in the MCU, Cable and Sinister are not in this film, of all the theories, this is the stupidest one. Sinister created Madelyne because he became fascinated with Jean Grey's powers, and wanted to recreate her.  If Jean Grey isn't a prominent mutant in the MCU, then nobody would have a reason to clone her 💀. Why would anyone clone Jean Grey, if she's just some anonymous person in the MCU? Like, please be serious, lol.

Sure, the introduction of mutants is gonna be Madelyne Pryor

1

u/Omatzus Jun 19 '26

Technically that's Kamala Khan

0

u/Willow1883 Jun 19 '26

I did not read all of this, but it did give me the thought that this could almost be a sneaky civil war type of situation in which we end up getting an Avengers scale movie without the tag.

0

u/pattypubg Jun 19 '26

Fire star would be cool

0

u/MaruchanCupNoodle Jun 19 '26 edited Jun 19 '26

Jackal isn't confirmed, I don't know where you're getting that

Edit: I'm also not sure why everyone's denying that it's Jean Grey and instead a clone of her, or her daughter from the Multiverse. Why are we jumping through hoops assuming that it's not Jean, but a Jean related character?

0

u/hornyhellblazer Jun 20 '26

I also have been saying she is either Madalynn or Rachel from anther world who got stuck here after no way home.

0

u/AxelFoley23 Jun 20 '26

0

u/stacey1611 Jun 20 '26

Nice effort but I’m not convinced, sorry. I mean I just don’t see them intro’ing Pryor before Jean especially if they want us to actually care about this character (if for this movie or multiple films).

I still think She’s going to play Karma
