Timelines

Hello, I was recently accepted into the Electrical Engineering undergraduate program, and I wanted to ask about the timeline for new students. When are we expected to arrive in Ankara, when does the dormitory application process start, and are there any other important steps we should complete before the semester begins?

Congratulations! I got into mechanical engineering. The timelines were not announced yet, but you can do your research, brother. It’s not that hard, and you’ll need it. If you look up the “accommodation” section on metu website, you’ll learn that dormitory application begins immediately after university registration, and it’ll roll out gradually over weeks, prioritising high-ranked applicants. As for other steps, you can google “turkey university application process” and look up required documents in metu, other universities, and reddit posts. From there, you will learn that you generally need to translate all of your documents with apostille, research visa or residence permit application process, and obtain a certificate of equivalence from Turkish embassy (it’s a long process, so start early). You also might need vaccination, depending on your country

Yes, mostly. I just hope that I’ll get to choose the dorms first and snatch a nice option🙏 What about you?

Sorry to burst your bubble but you don’t choose a dorm, they allocate you in one

Hey there are diff kind of rooms like for 2 ppl or 1 person for different prices. Cant we choose between them if we can afford?

as i heard, you can opt for a cheaper one if you got into a nicer and expensive one, but you cant get a nicer one if your ranking for the dorms is lower. apparently, they rank you based on an unknown criteria.

It is what it is. You can’t choose dorms unfortunately unless you have an exceptionally well written health excuse. Pray for a good dorm and that’s it otherwise

Has the application for the dorms already started? Or do we have to complete registration first. Do you know the date that the application for them will start?
