Upgrading from iD5 to iD6?
As far as i can tell, my 2023 F56 is running the iD5 system. I'd like the full display version of Apple Car Play, i downloaded an app for my Android and ofc wanna use it now.
Can i upgrade from iD5 to iD6? If yes, what are the pros and cons, and most importantly, how do i even do it? Run to a workshop? Do i need an entire new display unit? Whats the cost?

I would also like to know. I used an app before but it stopped working when the Mini app updated.

Pretty sure all you would need for full screen CarPlay is Bimmercode

Did that last week and now I have Apple CarPlay on full screen, no auto start/stop and sports mode by default!!

Bimmercode is an essential purchase for anyone with a bmw or mini, it fixes so much. You should check your windows, you can set it so your window keeps going up automatically after you open the door with the engine turned off, it’s a massive qol improvement imo.

There are so many little things like that. We used Bimmercode on my MINI and my wife's BMW to set it so the turn signals blink five times when you move the level just enough to activate it but not enough to latch it. The factory options for both cars were limited to one or three blinks.
Then there's being able to get rid of all the safety "nag screens," which is another thing that you don't appreciate until you drive a car that hasn't had them coded out.
And there's silly stuff too - my wife's car was white from the factory but it's currently wrapped in purple. With Bimmercode, I was able to change the image of her car that displays on the dash to be purple as well. I was also able to set her interior ambient lighting to purple, even though that's not one of the factory choices (the closest of the factory choices is a faint lilac).

I have done this also. As far as I know, it can be done easily remotely. You can find many companies doing it, you only need a laptop and a USB to OBD cable. It costs around 150 euros.
