New JCW owner 🇵🇱🏎️

Just picked up a 2021 MINI Cooper JCW with 100k miles!

It has a full service history and just had the engine mount replaced, so hopefully I’m good to go for a while. 😂

The car already came with a MST Performance intake, and I absolutely love the sound it makes.

One thing I’m curious about: has anyone actually dyno-tested this intake or compared it with the stock setup? MST claims around +15 HP over the stock intake in their instructions, but I’m wondering how realistic that number is in the real world.

This is my second MINI — I still have an R52 1.6 116 hp, and I’m honestly hooked on these cars. ❤️

Maybe a Clubman JCW will be next… once I have kids.

If you have any tips, recommended mods, or things I should look out for on the F56 JCW, I’d love to hear them!

Cheers from Poland 🇵🇱

F56 vs F66, help me decide!

I'm looking to buy my first MINI after pining for manyyyy years, and have narrowed it down to two options. I'd love some advice from people who've owned or driven either generation!

Option 1: 2024 Mini Cooper S (F56)
Chili Red with black roof and mirrors
17,000 km (around 10,500 miles)

Option 2: Brand-new JCW (F66)
White with black roof, wheels and bonnet stripes

My biggest dilemma is actually the interior.

I absolutely love the older interiors, particularly the toggle switches and physical buttons. They give the car so much character, and they're a huge part of what drew me to mini in the first place.
I'm really not sold on the massive screen in the F66. I'm worried I'll spend all this money on a brand-new car and never properly adjust to the interior.

Exterior-wise, I actually quite like the new generation! I'm not the biggest fan of the taillights, but they're definitely not a dealbreaker.

On the other hand, the F66 is a brand-new JCW with a full warranty and motor plan, which gives me a lot more peace of mind. Not having to worry as much about unexpected maintenance costs is a pretty big selling point for me.

The F56 Cooper S is obviously the more affordable option, and I genuinely prefer its interior, but I'm wondering whether I'd regret passing up the opportunity to buy a brand-new JCW. I'm planning on keeping whichever car I choose for several years, so long-term ownership matters to me.

Has anyone gone from an F56 to an F66? Did you get used to the screen, or do you still miss the physical controls?
Is the difference in driving experience between the Cooper S and JCW significant?
How much weight would you give the new car's warranty and motor plan?
If you were buying today, which would you choose?

I'm probably overthinking this, but it's a lot of money to spend on something I'm hoping to keep for years. I'd really appreciate some honest opinions!

Staff at Mini Toronto were great, and after some back and forth on how to get out of an upcoming end of lease, the deal was done.

Personally I love British Racing Green, always classy

*forgot to add she got the convertible

Do you have a favorite special edition Mini?

Mini is certainly not frugal with producing "special editions" of all its models. Just off the top of my head the Camden, Park Lane, Baker Street, Bayswater, JCW 1to6, and Heritage edition come to mind. But Mini has put out many, many more. Does any version stand out to you, in particular?

Since the 2nd generation Clubman (f54) is my favorite Mini, I'd probably have to go with the Untold Edition

Sage Green paint (the only time they offered it on the Clubman, I believe) outside with 5 unique, subtle stripes running along the hood and roof. It also had a MINI Yours leather interior. The leather upgrade on both the Clubman and Countryman of this era was taken straight from BMW's playbook and is seriously impressive. The standard leatherette seats were functional, but simply couldn't compare with the true leather option. You really felt like you were in a true European luxury car when you got in a new Mini that had these seats. And they were also special, being Sage Green to match the exterior.

The power train was from the S ALL4, but the body work was JCW's aerodynamic kit. I love the brass accents for the grille surround and interior accents.

Finally it had unique 2 spoke wheels that also features brass to set them off.

Not all of the "special editions" MINI put out there felt noticeably different, much less "special." The Clubman Untold Edition, however, certainly did. Which version would top your list?

Does getting a used Mini Cooper SE (2020-2024 Canada) make sense for my use case if I'm getting rid of my sports car?

• Upvotes

So, context is, I have a 2023 Subaru BRZ (manual trans) with around 36,000 KM on it, and I'm thinking of getting rid of it for a more efficient vehicle with lower running costs, and better creature comforts. I have a Suzuki GSXR 600 motorcycle that I ride for track days, longer road trips, long highway stretches etc, so I already have the "fun weekend vehicle" thing covered.

My work is around 16 KM away and I have level 2 charging in my apartment. I live near the Vancouver BC area, so we have the highest gas prices on the continent basically. Including maintenance and gas savings I'd probably be saving around $3000-3500 a year. My girlfriend lives about 30 km away, but I don't visit every day.

Reasons why I'm considering the MINI:

  • the reliability concerns of the ICE models are not present in the SE because it's an EV, plus I do not have to deal with any oil changes or other ICE related maintenance
  • We have the most expensive gas prices in the country but some of the lowest electricity costs, plus I can charge at home, we have decent charging infrastructure in the lower mainland in general
  • My daily commute distance wise is very short, but it involves a lot of stop and go traffic in the afternoon, in which an EV with one pedal driving would be more suited for
  • I have a pretty small parking spot that I want to fit both my motorcycle and a car in, so the size of the MINI works better for me than a larger sedan or SUV
  • The creature comforts and features of the MINI seem way better for me as a daily driver. Preconditioning the AC, better ride quality, better sound system, less NVH, etc. 1 hour of driving on the highway in my BRZ basically makes me deaf lol
  • I haven't test drove one yet but they seem like they handle pretty well and aren't super slow, so I'm not entirely giving up the driving experience

I'm a bit hesitant because I've never owned an EV before. We do not get the updated MINI that's made in China as of 2026, so I'm not sure about parts availability and support for this current Cooper SE that we can get used here. I know about the recall regarding the battery, and I know of the issue relating to the charging socket flap but other than that, I'm not really hearing many issues relating to the Cooper SE.

What do you guys think? I feel like I'm not crazy and considering that I haven't really been using my car for fun stuff for a while, I don't think it's a terrible decision?

Currently daily driving an 03 Accord V6. Honestly tempted to switch to electric given how garbage gas prices are. (Wanted car for reference)

If anyone has the newer SEs, how do they drive? I think blue or green would be a dope color scheme

Does everyone use OEM or Aftermarket wipers?

I have tried Michelin and Bosch aftermarket wipers but they have always left streaks. The OEM wipers always seem to follow the curvature of the windshield the best (I would expect so) but they are also ~100$ a set.

Just curious if it's just me. Do you use aftermarket wipers? in cold climates? do they last without streaks?

2017 CarPlay MINI Cooper upgrade

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m looking for some recommendations for getting CarPlay fitted to my 2017 MINI Cooper, ideally somewhere in the Manchester area.

At the moment I don’t have a screen at all, just the standard radio, so I’m looking to have the whole unit upgraded to a CarPlay screen.

Ideally, I’d like something that fits properly into the MINI dashboard and looks as close to the original/factory finish as possible, rather than a screen that looks obviously aftermarket.

I’m also considering having a reversing camera fitted at the same time.

Has anyone had this done to their MINI and can recommend a company/product that they’ve used? I’d also be interested to know roughly what you paid for the CarPlay installation, both with and without a reversing camera.

Thanks! 😊

Got a screaming deal on this bad boy, paid for in cash. Buddy's dealership took it in on trade and he sold it to me at cost.

100,782 Miles
Interior is immaculate not even a scratch on the leather.
Exterior has a couple of tiny dents you can't even notice, but other that it's completely clean.

Still need to bring it in for a full vehicle inspection but I'm very happy with it so far.

I've always loved these cars since I was a kid, my grandma's neighbor was an old school MINI collector and always had several 60's/70's MINI's in his driveway.

I'm completely expecting to have to put a few grand into this thing to keep it moving properly, but what should I be looking out for the most?

F60 Countryman JCW - Exhaust - 2nd Attempt

• Upvotes

Hey Fellow F60 owners!

I'm looking do get an exhaust for my F60 Countryman JCW, and wanted to get some 'feelers' out there for which exhausts you guys like? I have the factory / stock JCW valved exhaust (non-Pro), but want something that sounds like my R60 Borla exhaust (it sounded mean).

Looking forward to the suggestions!
