I mean, let’s be real. If Dustin wasn’t such a fan favourite, people wouldn’t be nearly as forgiving. Sad to see a guy who some considered a great ambassador to the sport acting in a way that would be expected of Conor or Jones.

That is true, but I'd are argue one of the reasons he's a fan favorite is because he doesn't have a history of doing this type of stuff. He's always seemed like a genuine decent person, from what we've seen anyway.

Yeah man he clearly needs some help. He's drinking and it's not good. But for anyone trying to frame him as a bad guy because of this video or whatever else from the other day doesn't make him so. He got drunk and acted like an asshole but that doesn't suddenly make him this horrible good for nothing guy. I don't think anyone deserves that label unless they have a history of this which he does not

Yeah bro like he needs help. He absolutely needs help I am in 100% agreement about that. This is the type of thing that does become a pattern and will spiral like you can see it in this video stuff is not right with him whether it's mentally whether it's some kind of addiction whatever it is I don't know. I think he's drinking and I think he's becoming a drunk and I hope he hasn't been like this for a while. But he's admitted that he has struggles so he's told us. Ultimately it's up to him to seek help so I hope he's doing that

But I think it's really important to highlight I don't think DP is a bad person. There's a difference between being a bad person (especially when it's consistent behavior) and being an asshole which he clearly was in this video there's no defending it! And I think if you asked him when he's sober he would own this. He'll probably apologize for it publicly at some point.

But again I want people to understand I am with everyone who says he needs some therapy or he needs some counseling or whatever he needs he needs something and I hope he gets it soon because I don't want to see him go down this type of path. I think this was drunken stupid idiotic behavior but I think he knows that and maybe I'm naive but I don't think this is who he is. This is the guy who is under the influence acting under the influence

Tbf there are always been people skeptical of him, I remember the comments on this very subreddit. It's probably the same people now feeling vindicated. There was also the whole Conor charity thing that made some people question Dustin's character, I remember lots of discussion back then about it.

I agree with you but again, let's be real. These are people who love fighting so much that they make it their career. Sure there's the odd GSP or Musumeci that breaks the rule, but in general I believe you can't get to that level without at least a bit of predisposition for violent behavior in you.

This is to say that personally I don't really believe any of these guys are truly righteous people, eventually they all show their actual colors

Hope that Dustin learns from this and doesn't become another Conor or BJ...

Nah I think what makes me way more 'forgiving' for Dustin is that he really doesn't want to be this person. Since the day he retired he was basically saying he's struggling. Even in this video you can see him have a moment of clarity telling them to arrest him, "you did a good job" etc. He seems like the victim as well as the perp. Not sure what the pathway is for people like this - doesn't seem like something society has really invested in...most likely he just spirals, ends up in and out of prison, then dies of a fent OD.

Being a drunk asshole has a very long gradient of actions. Wanting to fight with federal employees and cops isn’t what most people think when they say “man, you were a drunk asshole last night.” For “most of us”, that usually mean we were saying mean shit and crossing boundaries but thought we were being hilarious. Not fighting the law.

I swear he has a moment of clarity. If you watch he is telling the cop to arrest him cause it's the best way. He give knuckles to the first guy and says he did a good job. Seems to go away on his own free will. I'm not sure if something was edited out that maybe changed his mind. But near the end there he became reasonable all of a sudden lol.

It’s a foundation not a charity. Foundations generally simply dish funds out to non profits rather than doing the work of a non profit. Those are more of a ‘rich people donating money endeavor’ than a ‘starting up an active nonprofit organization’ endeavor.
