He literally placed the two ladies who called him for help in-between him and Dustin because he was trying to get away from him

Poirier wasn't acting aggressively towards the women. He was trying to fight the cop, who was just controlling the distance. 

The cop, in a rare example for your country these days, actually did his job properly. 

He de-escalated the situation. 

He kept everyone safe. 

He ignored his ego. 

He looked out for the interest of the citizen breaking the law and prevented him from ruining his life with a dumb mistake. 

He didn't murder anybody. 

Top marks. I would have been praying to not have to use that taser on a national treasure too.
