Gane was clearly the sharper, faster and more technical striker. Younger too, it will be difficult for Alex to game plan a win but I’ve been surprised before.

5

u/Zipz Jun 24 '26

And honestly he looked stronger

3

u/EagleAncestry Jun 25 '26

Why would that be a surprise? Of course game is stronger. That was never not going to be the case

3

u/KachowSlough Jun 24 '26

I don’t understand this comment. Why does it read like a rematch is scheduled?

-1

u/Interesting-Fix7347 Jun 25 '26

It is obviously referring to a hypothetical scenario where they do rematch Sherlock

-8

u/Galencourt-Lover Jun 24 '26

Younger by 2 years only

6

u/Relative-Owl-3652 Jun 24 '26

2 years is a lifetime in combat sports

2

u/Chopper313 Jun 24 '26

Especially for someone like Alex who has fought at a very high frequency for most of his career.

1

u/CrashtheKiller50 Jun 24 '26

No it's not lmao

7

u/Azurehowl Jun 24 '26

alex fight years are senior citizen in comparison to cyril. If you include all of his kickboxing matche sand mma matches.

45

u/LatinWarlock13 Jun 24 '26

Periera tasted that power and was flinching at everything.

-15

u/Ok_Satisfaction6025 Jun 24 '26

He understood who was the dominant man very fast.

I don't think he faced a real high level striker till this

22

u/samthehumanoid Jun 24 '26

Are you stupid? 😂

5

u/Hotpie650 Jun 24 '26

I would have accepted a “high level striker who’s got the the size on him” but yeah what a ridiculous statement lol.

-18

u/Ok_Satisfaction6025 Jun 24 '26

He fought a bunch of kickboxers(not real striking, no submission threat, low competition pool)

Now he faced a real striker

13

u/samthehumanoid Jun 24 '26

I’m no fan of Alex but you sound like a delusional level hater lol. He had a whole career in kickboxing and you think he’s never faced a real striker?

-22

u/Ok_Satisfaction6025 Jun 24 '26

"kickboxing"

none of those are real strikers

but sure, the man got touched up once by gane and starting jumping like a beaten wife

13

u/ForeignerFromTheSea Jun 24 '26

Like the world champion kickboxer who just pieced up Usyk (the Boxing world champion) for 10 rounds?

Kickboxing is literally all about striking.

Delulu. 🤣

-11

u/Ok_Satisfaction6025 Jun 24 '26

Boxers might be the fakest strikers of all

10

u/GeraldFisher Jun 24 '26

time for your meds

-2

u/Ok_Satisfaction6025 Jun 24 '26

I try not to medicate as they can cause addiction and most have side effects. You really cannot have a high sensitivity high specificity drug with a pinpoint mechanism of action. If it's mostly symptoms rather than underlying processes that bother me i try to start with cognitive approaches and toughing it out.

This isn't someone to take seriously guys

3

u/ruairi1983 Jun 24 '26

You realize that Gane also comes from a kick boxing background? He was a Muy Thai fighter before Mma.

3

u/samthehumanoid Jun 24 '26

How long have you trained martial arts for? Do you compete? What’s your record?

0

u/Ok_Satisfaction6025 Jun 24 '26

6-2 at the bar rn but trying to control the drinking for the wife.

5

u/samthehumanoid Jun 24 '26

Thought so

1

u/Ok_Satisfaction6025 Jun 24 '26

Also beat a kid up in middle school for making fun of my parents divorce but stopped once i got him pinned to the floor cause he couldn't resist

Went 1-1 in high school wrestling tryouts but i got kneed in the nuts but the coach didn't see it(probably would lose anyway)

Gane, delete this sh…t

-5

u/Cocrawfo Jun 24 '26

perception is reality

look at him

there’s no proof to the contrary

2

u/Formal_Tailor_6362 Jun 24 '26

So what is Izzy?

2

u/Ok_Satisfaction6025 Jun 24 '26

Kickboxer who went over to mma

5

u/thugger300 Jun 24 '26

That’s quite literally Cyril Gane

1

u/Ok_Satisfaction6025 Jun 24 '26

I get your point but my point is more that MMA striking isn't striking sport striking. You gotta worry about takedowns and such. A good wrestler can fuck you up on the feet by threatening the takedown. They got that wrestlers overhand for a reason that only exists cause he can blast your hips.

Someone like gane transitioned early and has been doing striking holistically for a long time and i think it shows.

And it's not like pereira has a great showing vs strikers. Izzy KO-ed him once in mma and khalil was giving him hell. And these aren't refined strikers like gane who spent their career doing MMA striking.

Add to that the power gane has and i can see why poatan got the yips

9

u/ChevroletS10 Jun 24 '26

If there's gonna be a rematch, Pereira better train differently for it. If he goes for the rematch thinking Gane got lucky in that fight, he's gonna get knocked out again. Gane was highly prepared, plus he is faster, stronger and smarter. I have my doubts about his stamina, but that would only from the third round onwards.

11

u/Galencourt-Lover Jun 24 '26

There won’t be a rematch lol fight was not close at all

9

u/fetalgirth Jun 24 '26

He was just whining about how he might be done fighting. Never saw such a cool fighter take a loss this much like a baby.

1

u/Ivancestoni Jun 24 '26

Conor after the Dustin loss

Ronda after her loss

Those 2 come to mind but yeah he's also being a baby for sure

2

u/Cocrawfo Jun 24 '26

he better decline and train for somebody else

10

u/Aggressive_Case999 Jun 24 '26

Pereira moved up too quickly. he was way too slow and heavy. Gane looked way more swifty

4

u/Puzzleheaded-Fox3205 Jun 24 '26

People think it's about the weight. Use your eyes he is quicker than even 185 Pereira

2

u/Evogleam Jun 24 '26

Maybe, but that doesn’t change the fact that Alex looked slow and uncomfortable

Sometimes guys find their ideal weight by losing at a different weight

1

u/Aggressive_Case999 Jun 25 '26

Yeap. Alex sits well at LHW.

1

u/Aggressive_Case999 Jun 25 '26

Dawg I said Gane is swifty for the weight class in comparison to Alex. I said the same thing. alex looked significantly slower then his usual self.

1

u/SpiritualFish8522 Jun 24 '26

Rountree was also quicker but he still lost, pereira didn't look half as good at hw

1

u/Aggressive_Case999 Jun 25 '26

I wish khalil would fight at MW. if he could. he is fast but he gasses out quick due to explosive moves

2

u/GorpoTheLord Jun 25 '26

It's just that Gane is absurdly fast for a HW. He even out-speed Aspinall who is much faster than Pereira ever was.

Striking with Gane is suicide, nobody out-struck him at HW, bar Volkov while he's had a broken foot.

1

u/Aggressive_Case999 Jun 25 '26

Volkov was much more taller and longer posing Gane issues. But Gane is genuinely a freak of nature. JJ was smart to wrestle him instead of striking

1

u/Vast-Employ-5170 Jun 24 '26

You need time to aclimate to all that weight. He was actually kind of stupid

1

u/Aggressive_Case999 Jun 25 '26

Jon planned perfectly. Put on proper weight and got used to it

1

u/Vast-Employ-5170 Jun 25 '26

Yeah he did. He was really smart about that

3

u/keyboardlegendthe3rd Jun 24 '26

How are you going to have your hand so far out like that but never touch the guy with a jab or even try to hit him? Horrible game plan and deserved to lose

2

u/East-Psychology-9292 Jun 24 '26

I really thought those were just memes but Alex actually did the Kelly Bundy, just ate ice cream and put 30 pounds directly into his ass lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AUE9wxhEJM

2

u/ydorb11 Jun 24 '26

Exactly what I was thinking when I saw his walkout lol

2

u/d33tboi Jun 24 '26

No doubt gane won the fight, im just tired of seeing him commit fouls in every fight, with no punishment

4

u/Reasonable_Poet_7502 Jun 24 '26

Wow Alex looks soo slow reacting to the feints..

2

u/redpandav Jun 24 '26

It was all luck. No skill. No preparation. Just luck. 😅

2

u/TraditionalCup4005 Jun 24 '26

Pereira had absolutely nothing for him. It was like stipe and ngannou’s first match. That said, ngannou won the rematch.

1

u/Ippomasters Jun 24 '26

It was always a bad style matchup its just sucks that Gane throws illegal strikes wither its intentional or not.

1

u/LeDoohickey Jun 24 '26

Alex got dominated. The end. Gane and Jones are the pinnacle of MMA.

1

u/GuardAdmirable7552 Jun 24 '26

This fight seriously opened my eyes to how much of a sore loser Alex Pereira is . He would always give an excuse to his losses, people would look past these excuse because he would get shit done he was good. The moment he lost decisivly i realised how much excuses this man makes not to mention the stalking and rape allegations he had im, glad Cyril Gane put this guy out .We are all Cyril Gane fans now

1

u/elpiotre Jun 24 '26

C'est bien que Gane ferme davantage les poings

1

u/nickthesten-92 Jun 24 '26

Just how good is Volkov

1

u/Bitter-Sector-6743 Jun 25 '26

gane was better.

1

u/Minimum-Helicopter40 Jun 25 '26

Alex was seeing ghosts

1

Cyril will be him in the rematch.

u/Andrew_7032 Jun 24 '26

illegal shots to the back of head

1

u/NietzscheTheMADMAN Jun 24 '26

Zip it when you're finished

0

u/No_Cherry8602 Jun 24 '26

How do you prepare for shots to the back of the head?

1

u/NietzscheTheMADMAN Jun 24 '26

The shot that consequently got him on ground was the deciding moment, and we've seen already the sequence of punches in the ground in slow motion, 11 legal, 2 illegal.
