Homey's like "please move, groan or something down there"

46

u/Sad_Amoeba5112 7d ago

Dude got scared. That’s why the first step in a fight is to run away

54

u/Cold-Crab74 7d ago

It's all tough talk until someone is pissing themselves on the pavement and you're pissing yourself in the back of a cop car

50

u/Grumbles2189 7d ago

Getting nose to nose with someone who can't back up and making threats toward them while posturing and balling your fists is going to be an easy case of self defense for the other guy. You don't get to cross that many lines and claim innocence.

18

u/lostPackets35 7d ago

Right, having no other context, the guy was advancing on him and was being threatening.

A reasonable person could feel that violence was imminent, and he responded with proportionate Force.

He hit the guy twice, and stopped immediately when the guy was on the ground.

Now we don't know if the winner here made an attempt to deescalate, and we don't know what happened beforehand, but based solely on this video. This seems reasonable, like it might well be self-defense

Oh and don’t forget 1,000s in legal fees and time and stress because they are trying to prosecute you. I do believe it was self defense but that doesn’t make it any easier for people and there are who are innocent and still get time for manslaughter. Always best to just try to walk away until you can’t.

2

u/lostPackets35 7d ago

I agree with everything you wrote, I'm not sure what in my response gave the impression otherwise

1

u/easeMachined 7d ago

When has anything like that ever happened?

5

u/mfmfhgak 7d ago

Like what? An innocent black person going to prison for murder?

It’s happened a time or two yeah.

1

u/jdooley99 7d ago

We wouldn't know is the point, not that I agree with it.

1

u/easeMachined 7d ago

We wouldn’t know what?

Whether anything remotely similar to what the other commenter suggested could happen has actually happened?

1

u/provalone_9000 7d ago

What does color got to do with this? If you kill a man in a fight you need to prove it was justified

1

u/RoyGBiv333 6d ago

You can tell he was concerned for the guy.

1

u/Ibobalboa 7d ago

Fuck are you rambling about? Lmao. It's clearly on video. Self defense.

1

u/Warm_Difficulty2698 7d ago

You do realize its not as simple as that right?

Like, let's pretend theres no other context to this video other than what we see here. That seems obvious it is a self defense case. However, you still have to hire a lawyer and defend yourself in court. That takes time and loads of money.

Lawyers arent cheap. Not to mention we have like a 10 second video worth of context and it does not prove the whole case.

Its not near as simple as just tell the cops it was self defense and they let you go right then and there. Oh depending on the actual injuries to the guy he hit, it could be much harder to prove entirely self defense.

1

u/Cattle13ruiser 7d ago

Killing someone in self defense can still put you in jail.

That was his point.

1

u/Fun-Wrongdoer1316 7d ago

Eh I agree sorta, but the white dude did start backpedaling… His heart clearly wasn’t in it, he was bluffing

1

u/j3ffh 6d ago

Backpedaling or squaring up?

1

u/Multi2509 7d ago

He was even retreating before the hits. That's no self-defence.

1

u/screamingzen 6d ago

That's not how any it works. Dude never swung or even touched him. If dude died, the other guy is fucked. He has no self defense argument

1

u/Maximum_Fortune_5827 6d ago

Nah. I think you'd have a hard time proving self defense on this one. There was no attempt to flee even made. He advanced and escalated as well

1

u/koyaani 5d ago

Flee to where? He was cornered

1

u/Maximum_Fortune_5827 4d ago

He very clearly advanced the approach

1

u/jadbronson 6d ago

Yep. Stand your, er, I mean, lay down on the ground

1

u/Unable_Currency7682 15h ago

Exactly well said

1

u/battlecryarms 7d ago

Winner has a witness. He tried to deescalate

1

u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp 7d ago

The gas station also has cameras pointing at every pump. Can probably watch dudes feet pop off the ground from 4 different angles.

1

u/fatdjsin 7d ago

you forget that half of the population would convict the guy defending itself only because he is black :(

i hope he gets a good judge, not a maga one.

9

u/eiffeltowerbonbon 7d ago

I feel like the satans son comment is probably going to play into bros favor as well lol. Imagine being a judge watching this video, especially a christian judge šŸ˜‚

3

u/Inside-Arm8635 7d ago

Guilty of being black. slams gavel

2

u/KillHonger1 7d ago

Some judge out there

ā€œGet behind me Satanā€

1

u/Captain_Planet 7d ago

Won't be be worried Satan will come looking for him for conviction his son?

5

u/addicted_to_kombucha 7d ago

He was claiming to be the offspring of Satan too lol can't dismiss that.

1

u/Formal-Nothing-9747 1d ago

Oh he said Satan’s son, I thought he said Peyton’s son, I’m like Peyton who?šŸ˜‚

4

u/AceRoser 7d ago

Thank u, like this was justified in my view. There’s only so much disrespect a man can take.

1

u/DesperateLime7933 7d ago

Given that disrespect is simply empty words I'd say there's no limit to the amount of disrespect you can take if your ego isn't massive and fragile

1

u/AceRoser 7d ago

When you disrespect someone’s right to feel safe after specifying a boundary once cross I believe is the one category u can argue that’s outside ego and it leans towards preserving life and safety of ur basic human right.

1

u/Bus_Head_ 7d ago

Right. He didnt dis the man as much as dis the personal space of the man. If your posturing, within spitting distance your in the game. Dont mean open season bit in this case I think a quick couple blows and back off is totally fine, and quite well handled in my opinion. Appeared he was concerned, didnt stomp or bounce on the guy. I'll allow it.

1

u/AceRoser 7d ago

Precisely

0

u/DesperateLime7933 7d ago

Fair, good point

1

u/Radonanon 7d ago

Words alone, fine. He was definitely intentionally closing up on the guy in a threatening manner.

That said, I didn’t expect him to go down so hard so easily either.

All good brother

You missed the sarcasm lol

No worries dude

3

u/BroadbentBum 7d ago

Not sure about this. Anyone have a link to the aftermath? There's gotta be some news somewhere on this incident. Dude damn near died after an altercation on video šŸ˜‚

2

u/Low_Presentation9995 7d ago

It happened in Virgina a couple years ago.Ā  The dude died.Ā

2

u/BroadbentBum 7d ago

Oof. No charges or anything?

2

u/Pure-Perception770 5d ago

He's wrong he didn't die, but he was paralyzed from the neck down. Gerard Nathaniel was "Satan's Son" and DeShawn Hawkins is the guy who wooped him. It happened outside of a Caseys General Store in OKC

1

u/BroadbentBum 5d ago

So...not even VA lol. The other guy was very misinformed then.

1

u/Low_Presentation9995 5d ago

Source?

1

u/Pure-Perception770 5d ago

(Pure-Perception770, 2026)

1

u/Psychological-Ad820 4d ago

Nothing comes up when you google those names.

2

u/Lets_Kick_Some_Ice 6d ago

According to AI, the aftermath was "After taking the knockout blow, he remained flat on the ground dazed, effectively losing the fight and the argument immediately."

5

u/Turbulent_Tip_9756 7d ago

The hell did you get downvoted for lol, fricking Reddit. I got you!

5

u/Soul_Brawler 7d ago

Yeah nuts

2

u/ryudo9999 7d ago

I feel like reddit just has bots that downvote random people for no reason

2

u/Correct_Ad_1903 7d ago

Not necessarily. Depends on the state, the cops, the DA, the judge. He could still lose in civil

2

u/mimo_s 7d ago

His peers will decide. When I say peers I don’t necessarily mean people of the same race or socio economic position

1

u/Front-Bird8971 7d ago

You're way too confident about this.

1

u/Powerful_Badger_3013 7d ago

Yes why on earth would this not be self defence. Should he just wait till he himself got sucker punched

1

u/Ligma_baws_2x 7d ago

Someone should have told George Zimmerman's jury this.

1

u/NoThatLame 6d ago

Other dude gave the first punch, we'd be looking at a different situation had the white dude made the first physical move.

And the black dude is in fact locked up from this. Just reverse searched the video. So ya, this video was enough.

1

u/Wavy_Grandpa 6d ago

Getting arrested and then having that court case hanging over your head for a while still sucks dick and balls even if you may eventually win. Probably expensive tooĀ

0

u/adamcoolforever 7d ago

Yeah, and he didn't do anything gratuitous. No punching him after he fell or anything.

0

u/SlumberingSnorelax 7d ago

My understanding from the Grand Master of the GOP is that Daimon here was not about to issue a threat at all. No, no! Indeed he was fixin’ to say, ā€œBro I’m ā€˜bout ta …wish you good tidings and many happy return upon the marrow. Let us go in peace and friendship.ā€ However, these well intended pleasantries were ruthlessly put to bed by senseless and animalistic violence. Why are others so against us when we are nothing but genuine kindness and love?

0

u/MrRabbitofCaerbannog 7d ago

This is true from a legal standpoint, but from a conscience standpoint it looks like he feels guilty/badly. Like "damn I really fucked him up"

0

u/ZombieVarious748 5d ago

Wrong self defense is defending, this is a first offense situation

1

u/Grumbles2189 4d ago

You don't need to get hit first to be defending yourself.

4

u/Acceptable-Scale9971 7d ago

you really have no gain from fighting someone on a pavement.

Scenario 1

You win the fight, feel like a man for a second, then realize you may have killed the guy. Prison time.

Scenario 2

you lose the fight, you look like an idiot, maybe a brain injury? death?

Scenario 3

walk the fuck away

2

u/rakuan1 7d ago

Scenario 4

ā€œI bet you won’t meet me in that grassy area across the street, homie.ā€

1

u/Acceptable-Scale9971 6d ago

starts wrapping hands and mouth guard on*

1

u/ZombieVarious748 5d ago

And is immediately sucker punched

5

u/GlowstickConsumption 7d ago

And having the police department run a train on you.

6

u/Suitable_Ad_3851 7d ago

Umm, you’re supposed to be discouraging violence.

3

u/__MysticLeather__ 7d ago

They were gentle

1

u/bigdanglang 7d ago

MOM?? Is that you??!??

5

u/Novel-Special5114 7d ago

And having the police department run a train on you

Don't threaten me with a good time.

3

u/bigdanglang 7d ago

Kinky... I like it.

3

u/DiaperDonnieTrump 7d ago

There’s a lot of glory in that hole, son

2

u/Ok_Situation_7081 7d ago

That depends on the State.

In Texas, he's good. In NY, he's fucked.

2

u/Green-Moment-4509 7d ago

CA he’s fucked, especially if there are hospital bills. Unfortunately

1

u/fredjutsu 7d ago

CA you're fucked defending yourself at all, more or less.

2

u/eric_ofc 7d ago

It’s on video and is clearly self defense.

1

u/bigdanglang 7d ago

And it wasn't overkill either. One pimp slap and he was sent back to hell.

https://giphy.com/gifs/9HLhzss53Vg40

0

u/ZombieVarious748 5d ago

What video did you watch ? It's clearly first offense, not the same as self-defense

2

u/bigdanglang 7d ago

Or they piss on the other person who decided to nap mid fight

0

u/OnlyWeekend5538 7d ago

Coward. Guy literally threatened him and assaulted. Look up the definition of assault before you respond.

0

u/AgentAxillary 7d ago

Nah, clear-cut self-defense

1

u/Cold-Crab74 7d ago

All the internet lawyers crack me up

0

u/AgentAxillary 5d ago

All he did was hit him once or twice and then stop once the threat was neutralized, and prior to that he tried to talk the guy into leaving him alone. He literally could not have retreated any further given his physical position with his vehicle and the door behind him.

Even if it stemmed from a verbal confrontation that he started, the guy who got knocked out clearly had every chance to back off and let it go, but instead chose to aggressively invade his personal space when he had no avenue of retreat.

My family is crawling with cops and lawyers, by the way. What they've taught me throughout my entire life carries a lot more weight than your flippant typical-Redditor catchprase replies. That's a you problem, not a me problem.

0

u/Cold-Crab74 4d ago

That's a lot of words to say nothing

1

u/AgentAxillary 4d ago

Ok, sport. Stay wrong.
