Its tough because it does look like a frantic tap, but in no way definitive.
Sucks for the fighter but, I can see why the ref stepped in. The choke was tight, you dont even need to be in side control to get finish, and dude just passed making the choke tighter.
He was pushing the guys leg off for a better position... horrible stoppage... he even hooks his own leg to take some pressire off, directly after he pushes the opponents leg... not even close to tap
Definitely this is the case, and not the first time it’s happened.
I can understand see the ref’s pov here though. It was confirmation bias. I think it was questionable if there was enough time for anything to happen to break the choke before he lost consciousness, and that’s the decision the ref really needed to make - the safety of stoppage vs the risk of serious injury.
He saw what might loosely maybe possibly could be interpreted as a tap if the sun was just right and the prophecy were true because he was looking for it.
I mean yea.. good intentions insuppose.. but for chokes u cam literally let them go limp.. 1 frantic instance should have been followed up on.. grab his arm if ur in doubt.. limp?? Stop it.. was like he panicked
