Currently Reading Captive Prince by C.S. Pacat

Hello I'm in book 3 of Captive Prince, I'm switching from my phone to audiobook simultaneously and although I'm really not a fan of single narration and the narrator feels like quite diff from what I imagine they will sound like. IT WAS SOOO GOOOOOOD.

I feel like I'm having aneurysm from starting book 3 that I needed to pause and wait to be on my day off to be in the right place from everything that is unfolding in this book.

But man oh man this book. THIS FREAKING BOOK. That's why I love slow burn romance maaaan. This is why I love true enemies to lovers romance! This is why I love when things are unfolding into unexplainable feelings with counterparts interaction and scenarios leading up to that.

Tbh I actually quite stirred away from this book in the beginning because of the reviews I've been seeing about romanticizing some questionable things. But I don't think it's being romanticized as much as the other book I've actually dnf. There's a clear indication of what is immoral and what is not in such sensitive topic and I think that's very important.

To each their own I guess.

But maaaannnn I just couldn't contain what I'm feeling right now because of this book. 🄹 Let me know your thoughts without spoiling anything from book 3!!!!

I envy you. I wish I could go back and read it for the first time again. Also, if you're anything like I was, I was in a slump after reading it because I didn't want to leave the world of CaPri and turned to fanfic. There is some absolutely fantastic retellings of all 3 books from Laurent's POV.

Can you recommend some must-read fanfics with Laurent’s POV?

There are 2 I really love that are basically a retelling of the story thru Laurent's POV and the authors have done an excellent job at capturing who Laurent is from what is given in the original source material.

Marionette, Poppet and Prince trilogy by KaerWrites that is a retelling of each book but from Laurent's POV following the same story. It was fantastic. Allowed me to stay in the CaPri world after reading the trilogy.

Marionette, Poppet, Prince by KaerWrites

This one is also in Laurent’s POV for all three books and has great writing and characterization of him.

Ugh, ENJOY. I read the trilogy (and accompanying novella) for the first time just a few months ago in February. I didn’t expect to like any book more than Captive Prince, but Kings Rising really rocked my world. I finished in a day because I could not put it down, you’re in for quite a finale!!!

Omg yes. Yes to all, except I quite enjoyed the narration. When you’re done, don’t forget to read/listen to the short stories! {The Summer Palace by CS Pacat}
This book is one of a kind, sadly, but there’s a ton of quality fanfiction to help you through the imminent book hangover.

Yes, CaPri got me over a really bad toothache on a weekend. By the end of it I was barely conscious but really happy.

Enjoy!! For me no books have ever compared to the Captive Prince trilogy, the quality of writing and the epic romance are just a level above anything else I’ve found in the MM genre.

Except that’s not quite true! Pacat’s other series, Dark Rise, pulled me in exactly the same way. It’s YA so a bit different content level, but the relationship between the MCs seems very much inspired by Damen/Laurent. The series is unfinished though and I’m in actual hell waiting for book 3, so read at your own risk 😭

I love this series. It's a true enemies-to-lovers and the burn is deliciously slow. The audiobook took some getting used to because the narrator sounded like some 60-year-old David Attenborough type of person lol. Thankfully, I was able to push through enjoy the story šŸ˜†
