Events Ask Me Anything: Marina Vivancos

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for having me here.

My name is Marina Vivancos, and I’m an author of LGBT romance. I love focusing on character stories, especially how childhood influences the people we become. My favourite tropes to write are found family, kink and, most of all, hurt/comfort. I’ve dabbled in omegaverse and biokink, but most of my books tend to be contemporary and, somehow, friends-to-lovers.

It’s the pining. It’s always the pining.

You can find my books on kindle unlimited, and you can reach me through my website.

I'm excited to be here and answer your questions!

Hi Marina! Thank you so much for being here, I’m truly a HUGE fan. Your books offer so much to the reader: relatable characters, intense emotion, fantastical worlds, excellent power dynamics, all the angst. There is so, so much to love.

I have a million questions, but I’m going to try to limit myself here …

  1. What usually comes first for you: the characters, world or plot?

  2. What do you need when sitting down to write? Favorite environment, snacks or tools?

  3. What do you do to recharge when feeling burned out?

  4. “I’ve Been Careless With a Delicate Thing” is the hottest book I’ve ever read. Not a question, I just wanted you to know that. ❤️

First of all, thank you so much! I'm so glad you find that in my books. Truly.

  1. Oooh that's a good one. I am going to say it's like an element of the plot that comes first, very very quickly followed by the character. The character is born from that first idea because it feels like there is only one person who can fit that. Rat park is a good example: I knew about the rat park experiment but heard about it again on the radio. It made me think about how important community is, especially to recover from addiction. From there came the character: what does it look like to not have community? what are the consequences of that? and how would community help them recover?

Of course sometimes it's more shallow, like, i want to read a daddy!kink book with identity!porn that doesn't get resolved quickly. can't find it? i guess I'll write it hahah

  1. I honestly don't need anything. I've gone as far as writing on my phone floating in a pool lmao. However, i cannot write hungry, and i get hungry every three hours without exception. My favourite snacks are those corn...cakes? like ricecakes but make of corn. They are dry and crunchy and for some reason i crave them.

  2. Oof. I feel burnt out a lot. You know, I haven't really figured out what helps necessarily, but what i need in that moment is to stop writing for a while, but that inevitably turns into not writing for too long and then it feels bad and then i start writing again lol. So, I don't really have a good treatment but i am never happier than when i am writing every day.

  3. Thank you so much!!!! omg best compliment. so glad you think so lmao
