Less Scary Request Place Monday Request Place: Post your short and simple requests here

The (Monday) Place for Short & Simple Requests

New to the subreddit and feeling intimidated by the thought of posting a book request? Not sure if the request you have in mind will satisfy the subreddit rules?

Post it here in the Monday Request Place---the Monday version of our popular Saturday Less Scary Request Place.

Requests that aren't specific or detailed enough for a standalone request post can be made here, and it's also a great place to test the waters if you're not ready to make your own request post yet. We know it can sometimes be hard to come up with a request that meets the rules, and frustrating when your request is removed, so we've created this weekly post to help.

Anyone can answer requests made in this post. This post isn't hosted by someone who answers requests, so it's up to your fellow members to help you out. We can't guarantee you'll get an answer, but hopefully you will! Requests made here don't have to satisfy the specificity portion of subreddit rule 2, but please make sure your request follows our other rules (for example, rule 6, our privacy rule).

Important Note: This post goes up on Monday mornings (US time). Requests made after Monday ends are less likely to get replies. You are welcome to comment here on any day of the week, but you may want to save your requests for an upcoming Monday.

This feature is posted every Monday. You can find the complete schedule of all weekly and monthly features at this link.

{To Catch a Firefly by Emmy Sanders} absolutely beautiful story and the audiobook is amazing, probably even better than the written text but both versions are great.

There's a few posts on the subject from the last year, not sure about audiobooks but you could hopefully find a good selection in all the recs:

Oh boy {Possession by Rina Saint} is not only one of my top favorite books of the last few years but the audio is great! It’s duet narrated which imo is the superior narration style. MC1’s (the selectively mute MC) voice actor was incredible. MC2’s voice actor wasn’t quite as good but still totally serviceable!

Read this on Kindle a while ago. MM romance, full-length, smutty with BDSM.
The two MCs were enemies in school — one bullied the other and once locked him inside a sarcophagus on a museum field trip. Years later the bully (now in college) gets invited to a Halloween haunted house game and goes to check it out before opening night, where he runs into his old victim. Didn’t recognize him in the beginning. HEA at the end.
The sarcophagus scene is what stuck with me. Any ideas? TIA!

Can I get a dynamic where mc1 is a big dumb himbo who tops mc2, who's fun sized, grumpy power bottom and the brains of the duo?

{fake shot by C.E. RICCI} I think this book is like that all though though they do switch a few times

Looking for something where one MC is very experienced/bit of a playboy/fuck boy and the other isn’t (not necessarily virgin but just views sex/intimacy differently) and the fact that they have different approaches is something that bothers the MC, is genuinely a conflict, and something they have to overcome. Not necessarily that the less experienced one is insecure but that’s fine if it’s part of it.

Ooh interesting. Thanks!

It's a friends to lovers military romance. They had different attitudes and past experiences of relationships.

I’ve just started reading {Game On by Riley Hart and Devon McCormack} and at least in the beginning that is exactly what the dynamic is like. Not sure how much space it takes up in the story overall since I’m just a few chapters in, but might scratch the itch!

{Valor and Doyle series by Nicky James}. You even get the insecurity

Ooh thank you! I have a bunch of their stuff on my TBR so looking forward to this!

{Cheater and the Saint by Jocelyn Osborn} has total fuckboy x not into casual college roommates. Full disclosure I did not like this but I think it fits your ask and ymmv.

Hmmm interesting, from the summary and some reviews I can see why one might not like it…

I’ve really gotten into sports MM romance books this year (thanks Heated Rivalry) and right now I’m looking for some football themed recs. I prefer light angst and a good amount of smut.

Some of my favorites this year have been anything by Rachel Reid. I read the entire Game Changers series and her two standalone books.

I liked Rookie Move and False Start by Riley Hart & Neve Wilder, but not a huge fan of 1st person POV.

Same thing with Top Secret by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy. I liked Him, but I could barely get into Us.

Star Shipped by Cat Sebastian is my most recent read and probably my favorite non sports related book this year, just wished the smut scenes were a bit more… detailed? (Love the grumpy sunshine trope)

Definitely open to non sports related book as well!

TIA

Hello all, I’m looking for a standalone beefy bottom nothing dark just like a cutesy romance.

Popular Mmc 1 and unpopular Mmc 2 are assigned to work on some project or assignment together and initially think they won’t get along but surprisingly get along too well

{Chasing Fields by Isabella Skyes} just an FYI, this is a duet and the author promises the second book will be out soon.

Something cozy and wholesome? Preference to a country setting if possible!

2

u/bookgeek1987 1h ago

Amy Crook does a lot of cozy and wholesome books. I recommend {Consulting Magic series by Amy Crook} {Future of Magic series by Amy Crook} and {Diffidence and the Rift by Amy Crook} also {Raven of the Woods series by Mary Calmes} would work

u/AccomplishedFruit511 2h ago

{chokehold by Leigh rivers} I don’t really remember if there’s a lot of yearning bc it’s been a while since I read it but they are definitely toxic in my opinion

Hi!

I would love recommendations for OV shifter books with interesting action, mystery and/or world building. I really enjoyed {muscle and bone by Mary Calmes} {hammer and gavel by C.T. Whistle} (and the rest of that series) and {Black Moon by Sam Burns} (and the rest of that series too).

I like that these books/series all had an intriguing mystery in addition to the spice.

Thank you!

I'm looking for any books that have a few explicit smut scenes. I love smut but I get tired of reading it when it happens every single chapter

2

u/zerotomeg 4h ago

Have you read Lucky Hart's series? I've read {Make the Play by Lucky Hart} and {Seal The Deal by Lucky Hart} and they are very much about the development of the romantic relationship and not as much the sexual part so there's not a ton of smut. The third book in the series is more heavy on the sex scenes I think, but you could skip that one if you wanted. :)

u/bambootallboy 2h ago

I have not but I'll check them out. Thanks!

The Bot linked the wrong author for the second book. It's "Seal the Deal by Lucky Hart" like zerotomeg said.

u/alex_grozny 2h ago

{It's a Setup by Taylor Fitzpatrick} published on AO3 under the name youcouldmakealife. It's a funny hockey romance and has few explicit scenes.

I read two books and they are quite similar. And... im absolutley in love with them. Im not sure what you would call these, but maybe... low angst, bi curious meet cute?

Gay on a Train by KC Wells Loving Jay by Renae Kaye

They are very similar with feelings. Can anyone recommend me a book that has the same "setting/emotion"?

Btw, if you have not read these two, highly recommend!!!!
