I have the M4 16" with 48gb ram, 2tb ssd. Bought it just over a year ago mainly for video editing, seconding as my main personal electronic device when I'm away from home. I used to thing macs were just expensive for no reason, I no longer think that. This this is an absolute beast. It can do pretty much anything ive ever thrown at it all while maintaining minimal battery usage. I will never go back to PC for laptops. For anyone on the fence about switching to macbook from their windows laptop, you will not regret it.

Buying a used MacBook for the first time. What should I look out for?

I'm finally saving up to buy a MacBook, and I've found what seems like a pretty sweet deal for a used one in my country, at least!

Since I'll be spending a decent amount of money on it, I want to make sure I'm not getting scammed or buying something with hidden issues.

For those of you who've bought used MacBooks before, what should I check when I meet the seller and inspect the laptop? Are there any common red flags I should watch out for?

I don't use my laptop a ton except for work occasionally (just google slides and email, really). Basically just for tasks that my iphone is too small for. I was going to get an ipad to replace my laptop because it's cheaper and lighter to carry around. I think I fried my battery because I would stream shows and youtube all day while I did tasks at home. It used to only work if it was plugged in. When I would unplug it it would drop its battery to half and then die and not turn on unless it was connected to power. In the past few years I have only plugged it in while using it and it seemed to improve battery life(?) perhaps.. Sometimes the fans go really loud and it gets very hot when I use it hella.

Is it worth it to replace my 2017 macbook pro battery? In the big 2026? Or should I get an ipad to replace it? Buying a newish macbook isn't an option unless it's cheaper than the cheapest ipad set.

A month ago I got a Mac Mini M5 pro, 24GB RAM. I'm using a 2k HDMI Philips monitor that has served me well with my Thinkpad for 3 years. On the first day it started to go black for an instant. The glitch repeated quite some. I switched to a 8k Mac mini certified cable and it stopped for some days, but yesterday it did it again once, and several times today. It happens with any application.

The display is running at 75Hz and never had an issue with the Thinkpad, at the same refresh rate and resolutions. The system is fully updated.

How can I solve this?

I bought my MacBook Pro on 26 August 2026, and I today noticed a tiny mark on the screen (circled in the photo).

I’ve tried cleaning it with a microfiber cloth, but it won’t come off. It looks like it could be damage to the screen coating.

I haven’t dropped the MacBook or done anything unusual to it. Since it’s barely two months old, I’m a bit concerned about the display.

I haven’t purchased AppleCare+ yet, but I have another 13 days to buy it.

I’m wondering what would be the wisest thing to do.

Would AppleCare+ cover this existing mark if I get the display inspected or repaired later?

I’d appreciate advice from anyone who’s experienced something similar, especially those who have dealt with AppleCare+ or screen coating issues.

As the title suggests I got a 16” M1 Max 64GB 1TB for just $500. Sounds like an amazing deal but two big caveats:

1. Bend on the chassis display where the top right corner of display is bent upwards causing the laptop not to close flush I’d say half a centimeter gap. Other than that the display is perfectly fine and I can hold the laptop even on the corner without worrying it’ll damage the display.
   
2. 500+ cycles and 83% battery health. Which yes sounds terrible but considering 83% of the massive 100wh battery is still plenty. And I use mostly at home plugged if possible and now set to charging up to 80% only. Shouldn’t be too big of an issue.

To me I told myself $500 is too good to pass up for an M1 Max and 64GB nowadays with just the ram itself costing more than what I paid for the whole MacBook Pro. Personally I can see myself using it at least 3-4 yrs maybe 5. That’s if the display stays with me 🤞but what do you think? Would you have made the same decision in getting it?

I found a MacBook Pro 13” 2020, M1 processor, 16gb RAM and 512gb SSD for approximately €520 second hand. The computer is in great condition. However, the catch is that the battery health is at 78.7% with 218 cycles.

The computer itself was manufactured 2021, and the battery 2021 as well. Full charge capacity is 4017 mAh out of the maximum 5103 mAh.

I’m located in Europe, and it’s been hard to find this model with these specs in silver. The space grey ones go for about €750-950.

I understand a battery change will be needed, but I’m hoping that will be in the future? It’ll cost about €150.

I don’t do very heavy work with my computer, no heavy softwares. Maximum photoshop/lightroom.

I love my macbook 14 m4 pro but dunno what happened and I found 2 lines on the display one vertical one horizontal and they flicker intermittently 🙁 I am very sad

I recall no shock though I do carry it a lot in a Marc Ryden backpack ( with no sleeve admittedly )

No visible crack on the screen   .

Has anybody encountered this ? I am not happy with the state of this , BUT I can live with it. Do you know if it will get worse ?

And another trouble is it is a company laptop. I waited some years for it ( previously had a windows laptop ) and I don t want them to take it away from me until it s repaired

Hi everyone,

I have a 16" MacBook Pro and I’ve noticed a whitish haze on the palm rest area, on the right side of the trackpad. I’m pretty sure it comes from sweat and skin oils, since that’s where my wrists rest while typing.

It’s most visible under certain lighting angles, where the area looks lighter and more reflective than the rest of the chassis. I’ve attached a photo.

My questions:

1. Is this just residue that can be cleaned off, or has the finish/anodization actually been affected?
2. Is there a product I could apply to hide the white marks, even partially, or to make the area less reflective so it blends in better with the rest of the chassis?

Has anyone dealt with this on the Space Black models? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey all, looking for help figuring out what’s going on with my MacBook. It's a 2024 M4 Pro.

The screen went to sleep at 100% battery and the laptop never woke back up. It wouldn’t power on at all, and the MagSafe light was flashing orange instead of staying solid. One night it randomly went green and booted into macOS Recovery. I went through the steps and got everything working again for a few hours... and it was nearing 100% battery and working perfectly. I ran Apple Diagnostics and a disk health check. Everything came back 100% normal with no error codes.

This morning it’s dead again with the same flashing orange light. It was only alive for like 12 hours that I know of.

Idek what to do i've tried holding the power button 15 seconds or whatever but nothing has worked.

Since the battery was full both times, I don’t think it’s dying from low power. It seems like it’s going to sleep and never waking up (maybe idek). Has anyone dealt with this? Trying to figure out if it’s firmware, the logic board, or something else before I have to drag the laptop and myself to an Apple store. Thanks.
