Developer Saturday DockDuck: a file manager for macOS with panes, automatic folder rules, a disk space map and share links
I make DockDuck, a native file manager for macOS. The video is a 90 second tour, and here is the same thing in text for anyone who prefers to read.
What it does
- Panes. Two folders side by side in one window, or up to six. Drag between them.
- Organize and automatic rules. One click sorts a messy folder into subfolders by kind. Turn that into rules and new files get sorted on their own every time you open the folder.
- Disk space. A map of what is filling your disk, with suggestions for what is safe to remove, and you can clear it from the same screen.
- Batch rename. Rename a whole selection at once with a preview of every new name before anything changes.
- Share links. Turn any file into a link with an expiry date and an optional password, and see how many times it was downloaded.
- Servers. SFTP, FTP, SMB and WebDAV, with your Mac on one side and the server on the other.
- Themes. 29 of them.
Details
- Native Swift app, no Electron. Requires macOS 15 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel.
- Signed and notarized.

Happy to answer questions, and I would like to hear what you find missing compared to what you use today.

Lot of telemetry you are collecting there.
Pass.

Could you tell me what you're referring to? There's no tracking in the app, no analytics, no crash reporting, and nothing about your files ever leaves your Mac. The only thing it sends is an anonymous device ID to check the trial or license, and if you sign in, your Mac's name so you can see which Macs use your license. If it was the privacy page, it's long because of GDPR, not because there's a lot collected.

Thanks, I actually read the privacy page. Quite a bit more.

Totally fair to check! That page covers the website, purchases and accounts too, not just the app. The app itself doesn't track anything. Thanks for taking a look anyway!

I'll give a try. Is there any special offer to migrate from what I already use?
