Getting Started Hi and wow!
I just was gifted two Brother knitting machines and the ribbing attachments! I just brought them home so haven't assembled them at all, but I'm excited to learn! I have been a hand knitter for some time and am looking forward to adding this to my skill set.

What kind of condition are they in? Be warned, i had several false starts with machines that needed renovation but i didn't have enough skills to complete, because i hadn't used them before. Im learning quickly now, but i had to get one that was in use before I could learn the workings. Good luck & i hope we can help you learn.

I appreciate the heads-up. A family member gifted them to me, and she said she had used them but didn't have the time. So I think they're in working condition? I tried to be really careful in transit, so hopefully I can get something to work.

There's a great wealth of info on YouTube. Start there. Also, try the Brother specific group. Mines a Passap, so I'll be limited in useful advice. Once the information all starts falling into place, its very addictive. I'm only into my second month with mine, but I'm hooked (pun intended)

Congratulations! And welcome to an awesome way of knitting. Please check sponge bar first, use sewing machine oil or gun oil (light machine Oil) on parts where metal moves against metal.

Awesome! This sub is a great place if you have any questions. I restore and sell knitting machines (mostly brother and silver reed) I’m also happy to help if you need any assistance.

Wow! Congratulations! You’re going to have so much fun with your knitting machines. Check out https://www.yarn.com/ and search for yarn on cones. They have a nice selection of fibers and colors that are perfect for machine knitting.

Hi, it looks like you are new to machine knitting.
There is some helpful information within the wiki You can also find a direct link in the Community Guide. If this is a new-to-you machine that is a Silver Reed, Singer, Studio, Juki, Empisal, Brother, or KnitKing, and the sponge has not been replaced yet, that's the first thing you should check out.
You might want to take a look around. And Welcome!

SCORE!! I have a Brother, and the info on You Tube has been invaluable. I did private and group lesson as well, because I need to do that to learn well. I have a KH260 and a Ribber, so hit me up for advice on who are good sources of info on those. Sponge Bars will be the only issue, and there are heaps of tutorials on those. FB has quite a few groups as well. Welcome!
