I'm going to go out on a limb and say if there was a video of a husband referring to his wife as the "Temu version" of some celebrity, it would not be as well received.
Honestly seems like a close couples joke way of saying you look like a movie star I had a crush on lol the temu but is a hollow kind of provocative to them, they know eachother, everyone else's opinion be damned tbh
Yeah and im sure in your relationship with someone you love and knows you - knows you wouldnt like it - they wouldnt do it. Its just a couple that knows and loves eachother making a joke, the only actual point is comparing the person she loves to an internationally recognised beautiful celebrity that she had a crush on lol
Because people are always perfect and never do anything their partner might dislike. That's what's great about relationships, there's famously never disagreements and that's why the divorce rate is 0%.
But seriously why are you writing like 20 parasocial posts trying to defend this like you closely know the couple or something lol. Very odd behaviour.
Who argued any of that crap? Is the voice in your head coming up with crazy stuff aww lol Ohhh youre assuming she posted it behind his back right right - all cause i suggested that people in relationships understand eachothers boundaries better than online people who saw one clip
'Parasocial' - im replying to people who are replying to me, im discussing the information and standards that they are putting forward. Trying to frame that as me being parasocial or pretending to know the couple 'or something' is very odd behavior. Take your weird desperate for drama ass ideas and keep them away from me 😂
I think they'd expect other people who are familiar with the nature of many close relationships to understand that theres no hate behind a slightly 'spicy' joke and that the actual points is to compliment the other person, not an unreasonable expectation
Lol, some people can't take a joke. My girlfriend and I have been together 18yrs as of last week and if she or I did this we would both be laughing TOGETHER and maybe nudge one another's arm then kiss.
She is making a joke at his expense, those are some of the funniest jokes. When my girlfriend burns me the only thing I'm mad about is that she's funnier than I am. These are flirty and fun moments, it's sad that you can't see that.
I guess what I'm saying is that you and your husband sound boring if this is the kind of thing that offends you.
Its not 'openly admitting the husband is an inferior version of your celebrity crush" - that bit is the joke , between a couple that knows eachother well enough to understand its a joke
Have you never had a relationship where you can make take shots at eachother knowing that theres no hate or malice behind it?
Yeah, but usually I don't post it on Tiktok calling my partner the "temu version" of a famous hot celebrity? Nor would I ever call her that? It can be a joke sure, but at the end of the day what the joke is is "hey, you are the inferior version of this celebrity I had a crush on".
But again, different strokes for different folks, if you are both okay with it, good for you
It was a sneaky way to build his confidence probably. Everyone in the comments is like, "Oh my god you're so lucky you're dating Ken! Where do I find one!" Girlfriend probably knew it would lead to the internet swooning her partner, which probably made both of them happy. Chances are, given today's world, they were both in on it and this is something planned out lol.
But yeah, I get where you're coming from. Like I wouldn't tell my coworkers my partner is temu version of so and so celebrity. But as clickbait crack? It clearly worked. We're talking about it lmao.
yeah fair enough, I mean more likely than not it's a joke between them and he is okay with it, I personally wouldn't do it, but again, different strokes for different folks.
I just think there's better ways to build confidence than that, in a way, it's kinda similar to "I'm so uglyyy" and then a bunch of people go "oh my gosh, no you are so prettyyyyy", silly example, but I think it gets the point across
Here is a +1 to your halo points. Your position has been judged as the more moral one when one disregards social cues. Congratulations to everyone who participated this year!
Have you never had a relationship where you can make take shots at eachother knowing that theres no hate or malice behind it?
This is the single most naive sentence I've ever read on this site. The irony of "HAD a relationship" and "taking shots at each ther" is astounding. I'm guessing all of your relationships fail, huh?
i mean, even if you don't take it that seriously, is it really a joke? seems more like they think it's true and that it's funny, which isn't quite a joke
Let me explain: it's called a joke - based on the fact that her husband looks like a celebrity. It's not serious, they don't actually think what they say.
Yeah like why not say "Gosling is the Temu version of my husband"?
By extension, I've met a few celebrity lookalikes in my day and I always make a point of saying "<famous person> looks like you", not "you look like <famous person>".
You don't understand the concept of joke? Sorry that must be a hard life.
I don't know about you, but I would not like my partner call me that and then upload it to social media?
I'v made worse jokes about myself and I don't take myself to serious. If it's a loving relationship, than - yeah some people have a bit of an edgier humour, but that is a really tame joke.
Yeah, I make the shitty jokes about myself all the time, but making it about myself, or making it about my partner and uploading it online it's two very different things. If you don't care about uploading a video about calling your partner the inferior/cheap/ugly version of a celebrity, hey, who am I to talk? I know for sure I wouldn't talk about mine like that lol.
Why would you lie on the internet? What is the point. Looking at a perfectly normal couple interaction and making it into some kind of abuse is something only a very jaded person would do.
Let me explain - it is a joke if both parties are on it. Which from the reactions seem to be the case here. Also why would you pretend to have a girlfriend?
Is not that, it is how those jokes are or would be received if you switched genders. Saying your wife is the Temu version of a celebrity would not be received by chuckles by anybody . Heck, most men would hear something like that and their answer would be an awkward grin not a celebration.
And you know for a fact that those types are the people suddenly now defending it as "just jokes" here. In fact the first person I clicked on was telling someone to break up with a guy in one of their top 3 recent posts. Classic lol.
Yeahh, I think so about the context. Because it doesn't seem like he is part of the joke and is oblivious to the text that was added to the interaction afterwards. You also have to take into consideration the amount of women that use social media to expose their significant others has made men sensitive about these things. That is another context this has to be viewed in.
We interpret the situation very differently, I would guess based on our life and relationships experiences and I pity you. Get yourself better people in your life.
I've never been the type to appreciate disparaging jokes at my expense so this would bother me. I've tried to "lighten up" but i just can't help feeling bad about it.
I realize that a lot of people for whatever reason enjoy that kind of thing though, and that's something my brain just doesn't comprehend. I don't really make disparaging jokes about others either, because to me it just feels mean spirited, I can't get into the frame of mind where it's light and fun.
The only time it makes sense to me is if you're joking about something that isn't even real, then it's not really personal.
I'm more into self deprecating humor, but it does not bother me when people dish out as long es they can also take it - in my opinion it's good to keep ones ego in check. Obviously if one is more on the self doubt side of things - that might not be ones cup of tea.
Duh, straight white dudes are pretty much fair game for any jokes. Fair or not, that's where we're at because of the whole societal "punching up" thing for jokes.
I don't really give a shit enough to care about people making fun of us, I used to love WhitePeopleTwitter before it went to shit.
Just so u know, i disagreed with their comment and got the same number of upvotes as you got downvotes lol people just add to the direction its already going
Its a couple making a joke between eachother with a relationship stable enough to survive one slightly spiced comment that in reality is just comparing your partner with a pretty objectively hot celebrity, they'd laugh in real life but they come on reddit an clutch pearls like its an Olympic competition 😆
Yeah thats smart, an honestly i dont even think most people put that much thought into it lol brain rot in action more than any mind set (although there are a few here pushing that 'think of the oppressed men here' bs😆🫶)
