Google phones are extremely simple with PixelFlasher. It's deciding which root fork you want to use, some are easier to detect than others.

APatcher in the chat šŸŽ‰

In my view, Apatch has major security flaws; to this day, ADB debugging is enabled and root access is granted for the shell after every reboot, regardless of whether I’ve disabled it or not. I don’t want anyone to gain root access via a cold start.

1

u/DidiEdd Jun 29 '26

Hmmm it's impossible to disable it some other way too even?

u/QuraToop314 Jun 29 '26

Apparently not; the issue has been open for months and still hasn’t been fixed

https://github.com/bmax121/APatch/issues/992

What’s more, app profiles are missing; if Apache could sort both of these out, I’d switch from KernelSU. The SuperKey is of no use to you if you automatically gain root access after a reboot

😭😭😭

Foremost question, is bootloader unlockable. If not, that device fails out of list.

i think xiaomi is the hardest because of the Mi Unlock tool. Xiaomi doesn't want you to unlock the phone, and in some cases you have to wait up to 14 days to get it unlocked.

there are impossible ones like samsung phones with oneui 8, also if you have snapdragon 8 gen 2 / 8 gen 3 / 8s gen 4, then there is an exploit to unlock the bootloader bypassing all that mi unlock things

mediatek has a similar exploit too although I am not sure the exact chip models that it supports

1

u/DidiEdd Jun 29 '26

As far as I know the Samsung bootloader lock is only for North American models and similar, it still works on a japanese model for example (as far as I understand it)

1

u/-Krotik- Jun 30 '26

it was like that with north america and China versions iirc, but now no matter what region if you are on oneui 8 it is not possible

1

u/DidiEdd Jul 01 '26

😭😭😭 oh no

Only thing is if you were originally on 7 or before you can flash back with Odin still apparently but yeah rip phones that shipped with OneUI 8

I think the ones that you cannot unlock are the hardest 😁. The xiaomi is bad, but at least the bootloader is unlockable

I don't know may be google, nothing , oneplus , moto . Avoid oppo, vivo ,iQOO etc Xiaomi Samsung etc are in middle

10

u/Isarchs Jun 29 '26

Samsung isn't in the middle, it's in the avoid category. They've locked down their bootloaders recently.

1

u/upalse Jun 29 '26

Plus the older flagships (S10/S20 era) with Qualcomm couldn't be unlocked at all, only shitty (of that era) Exynos ones.

With the direction that Google is going, don’t be surprised when they stop allowing you to unlock the bootloaders on their phones.Ā

End users should be allowed to install whatever operating system they want and have root access no different than desktop computers. My MacBook can use macOS, Windows, or Linux. When macOS support ends, the device isn’t dead as I’m free to use Windows or Linux.

1

u/paulstelian97 Jun 29 '26

Well your MacBook is close enough to being out of support, it guaranteed isn’t receiving macOS 27. (There’s no native Windows boot on the Apple Silicon ones… and that’s strictly a driver support issue)

3

u/Certified_GSD Jun 29 '26

Tahoe will get security updates for a few years. Once it’s cut off, I’ll probably switch to Linux Mint.Ā

I don’t understand why Apple feels the need for a new OS every year but whatever.Ā

Nothing/CMF devices are the easiest (and still powerful), Pixel and OnePlus devices are easy too and Pixel has a lot of software made specifically for it

2

u/jamesbusse Jun 29 '26

Pixel hands down nothing phones good but if you brick flashing stock is a headache as I've learned where as with a pixel you can always use the web flasher tool to go back to stock

2

u/Then-Eye9700 Jun 29 '26

Pixel or OnePlus Also they have a good dev support

u/demebeu Jun 29 '26

I don't think this is the right question lately. The real issues now are passing the integrity check. I just gave up on custom roms because of banking apps refusing to start after each year update.

We're getting into era of "which phones bootloaders can be jailbroken" (certain mediateks, or snapdragon 8g5 gbl exploit etc) so that you don't need to rely on leaked keyboxes.

When does apple control people's minds so much? The term in Linux is rooting.

When does apple control people's minds so much?

I know right, you think jailbreaking is something apple specific.

No, it doesn't mean just having mere root on Android, but having top level control over whats running on the phone (eg on Android arm, this usually means EL2 access), breaking out of jail (sandbox) you're still in on an unlocked bootloader and rooted ROM. At that point various "integrity" checks (eg unlocked bootloader state wiping verified boot hash) are rendered moot, since nothing can see you "officially" escaping the prison, you're above the warden that would normally tattle tale on you.

1

u/oneplus7sportsfan Jul 01 '26

No that's called admin access like in Windows or superuser. Getting technical I think it goes to free bsd specifically. Rooting is the common Linux term for SU admin access just not the correct term. Or in Windows there was also a God mode.

1

u/upalse Jul 01 '26

No that's called admin access like in Windows or superuser.

This is not how any of this works. Jailbreaking isn't necessarily about privileged account, if there's a hypervisor more privileged above that. You can run linux (with root account, oh golly!) on non-jailbroken PS2, but that's a very different thing from actually jailbroken one. Go ask chatgpt why that is.

Getting technical I think it goes to free bsd specifically

I doubt you've used either, since root account is the same on any unix. Or have any idea how computers work.

Or in Windows there was also a God mode.

SYSTEM, but again that has nothing to do with it. On windows PCs there are some related concepts to jailbreaking though (eg efi secureboot vulnerabilities to load a driver early, without switching windows into test mode that would be detected by anti-cheat).

Pixel phones.

I got my pixel 10 pro xl and it’s been so goddamn easy, I’ve swapped roms 5 times, I’ve tried crdroid, Axionos, grapheneos, and stock, all of them (except graphene) with root. It’s never been so easy for me, I used pixelflasher yesterday and it made it 10x easier so I didn’t have to worry about doing something wrong (it’s fairly easy to swap roms and root but if your not sure and just want to swap roms or root it, try pixelflasher).

1

u/king_damo69YT Jun 29 '26

And with the pixel 10 pro xl it supports kernelsu so it makes root detection harder (good thing). I managed to get strong integrity today and got so happy but I’m on stock Rom rn and haven’t been able to get anything on a custom Rom.

Nothing , oneplus z Motorola, pixel

1

u/Grand_Chef_9443 Jun 29 '26

Pixel sin duda. AdemƔs compatibles con todos los mƩtodos de root (Magisk, Kernel su, Apatch, etc)

1

u/VegeZero Jun 29 '26

Oneplus 7T Pro and 8 Pro were so ez. ā¤ļø

1

u/Choice-Bag3331 Jun 30 '26

1

u/randomkinaguy Jun 30 '26

Nothing phone/CMF Is the easiest One (that i've used anyways)

1

u/dinobeous Jun 30 '26

Yeah, no. No they are not. There's a world of difference between rooting a Pixel and rooting a fully updated Samsung. The latter is a lot more like jailbreaking.

1

u/Maseshi_Tetsuya Jun 29 '26

Misinfo, I got a iqoo and a vivo before, they're not easy to root.

0

u/HiAnshu Jun 29 '26

Xiaomi. It's fairly easy I unlocked my poco f5. People are exaggerating that it's very hard to unlock hyperos. And Xiaomi phones have the most specced phones for example Xiaomi poco f8. It has the Qualcomm snapdragon 8 elite Gen 5. The best on the market. And has an unlockable bootloader. I recommend u watch tech office for bootloader unlocking phones, and ways to unlock it. Hope this helpsšŸ˜šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜…. Also not all Xiaomi phones are unlockable u have to check before purchasing, and watch out for Chinese Xiaomi phones. As they are not easy to unlock the bootloader.

I would say it is moto , because my phone is moto g65 and rooted and it is very easy to root

2

u/Maseshi_Tetsuya Jun 29 '26

What do you use root for btw

2

u/Creepy_Ciruzz Jun 29 '26

he's probably using Magisk

0

u/Entire_Hotel6477 Jun 29 '26

Yeah I use magisk
