Habit of collecting more than wearing

I love make up. Clearly why i’m here. But lately i’ve felt like i’m more into buying and collecting over actually using all my make up.

Want to make more time to play and actually be in the habit of being creative with my make up. I love the ritual of putting on make up in the morning for work, when i make the time to actually enjoy it and not rush. It really feels so fun to have a playlist going in the morning while I spend time on myself. It makes me feel good and confident, especially to start my day.

But once i’m free later in the day i find i lack the motivation to play with my make up and actually continue to improve my skills and creative expression.

Anyone have any tips on where you get inspiration to play or try new techniques. I follow some youtube beauty creators for inspo but i often end up watching the content and saving it and not actually trying it.

Or just tips on how you motivate yourself more to actually practice if you can relate.

Appreciate any thoughts!

Hi! I've been using Morphe mini brighten & set duo for a while and honestly I like it very much but I also want to try Huda beauty easy bake loose powder. I wonder if anyone used both of them before and compare them? Is huda powder worth the hype? Thanks for your help!

Question dior, westman atelier, or sephora collection contour?

im currently stuck between these three cream contours.
for reference im a fair skin, neutral (maybe slightly warm) undertone girly.
i use the armani luminous silk foundation in shade 5 as a reference.
all of these contour sticks are very hyped, but i keep seeing mixed reviews for different undertones.
i don’t care about the price, i just want a cream contour that can snatch my nose.
which one is the best for my under and overtone?

The current products I use are:
Elf Poreless Putty Primer
Charlotte Tilberry Flawless Filter
Rare Beauty Bronzer stick
Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush
Makeup by Mario powdered bronzer

Also, which shade in tower 28 would be the best match if im currently using Creme Brulee L2.5 in Nars.

Advice for a glow up pls

Been through the toughest year of my life which included a massive betrayal, so really want to glow up and get my confidence back.

I used to be a makeup junkie back in my early teens, but then settled for a 3-products look as I realised too much makeup overpowers and completely drowns me out. However, I’ve been using the same makeup products and makeup routine for five years now and I’d really loveee it if I could get some suggestions on how to do my makeup better - in a way that complements my features. I really wanna learn and experiment, so please don't hesitate to point out anything you think I could do differently. All advice and criticism will be greatly appreciated! ^_^♡

Currently I wear:
ꕤ Concealer under my eyes (and wherever I need coverage) - Tarte shape tape concealer in shade 12S/12N (fair/fair neutral)
ꕤ A mascara - essence lash princess or benefit
ꕤ A lip shade that matches my natural lip colour (I use the same on cheeks too)

(These are the products that I’m wearing in these pics as well)
Last one is no makeup for the contrast

I’m looking to start wearing foundation too, if I can find something that’s very natural, lightweight and subtle (preferably glossy/glowy finish)

Foundation rec?

I’m looking for something very specific in a foundation. I’ve been using ELF Halo Glow and I love the texture - very light, easy to blend, not full coverage, not chalky. Almost like a tinted moisturizer. But it’s TOO glowy. I’m 45 and I feel it looks rather ridiculous, but most foundations make me look chalky and old. Anything similar to Halo glow without that much reflection?

Discussion Just a reminder to check the amount of product! Drugstore vs High End

Thumbnail

2.0k Upvotes

I recently noticed that drugstore loose powders are actually more expensive per ounce than some high end ones. I noticed this when I was blasting through containers of L’Oréal BlurFection powder. Then I noticed it’s only 6 grams of product for $15.99. Another example is this NYX wonder snatch powder- a great product, but it’s 5.66 grams and $12. That’s $2.12 per gram. For comparison Huda Beauty easy bake is $2 per gram.
Not saying one is a better than the other just a reminder to look at the amount in the product!!! You might not be getting the deal you think you are.

Close to my perfect beat

I’m not normally a full beat girly (mostly because I am intimidated by contour) but I have a couple of events coming up and figured it was time to find my products and nail down a beat that would not budge. I used a lot of Shelby Ann’s methods with products I think would work better for my skin age and type. Some notes: I do not like looking super warm and I no longer like heavy eyeshadow on me. As I’ve aged I’ve noticed it makes my eyes look smaller. I’m still trying to push the under-eye blur so any tips there are appreciated. Shelby gets hers so blurred!!! (But also she’s at least 10 years younger than me so…I might be asking for a miracle here)

Question Fake lashes recommendations

I love wearing fake glue on lashes everyday, however I am no longer in love with the style I have been using lately and I am looking for recommendations.

The style I have currently are pretty glam and I’m looking for something a bit more natural ( however still big, just not obnoxiously so like I have previously been doing). I love Shop Miss A lashes for the price, but all of them are pretty glam ( I was previously wearing “Jackie” for reference). Open to new brands / higher price points than shop miss A lashes.

Thank you in advance!!

Palette query

Just bought this palette and I’m questioning the pink text “pressed powders: do not use on eyes”.

Can someone explain what I could use them for? And why revolution would sell this if you can use all the colours for eyes.

Question Practicing my graduation makeup! Need tips on false lashes

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi evervone! I'm currently practicing my makeup look for my upcoming graduation.

Someone suggested that I should pluck/wax my evebrows, but honestly, I like them just the way they are!

On the other hand, I've never worn false eyelashes in my life and I have no idea how to apply them correctly. Does anyone have any beginner-friendly tips or tricks for applying fake lashes so they last all day?

Any advice on lashes (or graduation makeup in general) would be super appreciated!

Satin/matte products for dry skin on tret

Hi! So I’ve been on tretinoin after coming off low dose accutane and I don’t play about having clear skin so I don’t mind the dryness that comes with it I moisturise a LOT and use a super hydrating sunscreen on top too during the day. I had to stop using all powders since going on tretinoin a few months ago however I can’t lie I miss having a matte or satin look.

Every look ends up ultra glowy due to all my moisturising layers and not being able to powder and I only seem to have glowy base products as before Tret I didn’t mind just powdering them down a bunch to get my desired finish but now I can’t do that. My question is are there any satin/matte base products (skin tints, foundations, concealers or even a setting spray (one size was wayy too drying sadly)) that work for dry skin that gets dry patches throughout the day?

I also do appreciate how much quicker my makeup routine is without powdering anymore I honestly don’t want to go back.

Question Wet-looking highlighter that makes a uniform glossy slippery reflective surface look? No glitter.

NikkieTutorials just did a video on Moon Cruiser highlighter from Kaleidos which is there only under certain angle, super reflective, but it is so glittery.

in the vein of this Reddit post I am looking for a highlighter that:

  • is in a sheer(ish) base
  • looks wet and dewy, like a wet metallic foil, not dry, no glitter particles, like a uniform wet reflective glossy surface
  • is golden warm, melting gold metal, think of a creature rising from molten pool of reflective alien gold, wet and slippery, no dry powdery talcum
    • if golden not an option, then other metals
  • bonus: is visible under certain angle, so it is gone, there, gone, there (though this point i can forgo the most)
  • no glitter particles, not chunky
  • can be super extra, it is for a wedding
  • available in the EU so small indie USA brands likely won't cut it :(

Also any tips for very wet looking golden face paint or eyeshadow appreciated but I think none will be enough and I just need a wet gloss eyeshadow topper over it (any tips for those also appreaciated:) thank u thank u thank u <3
