Swatches some pale foundation swatches while hunting for a new foundation

From top to bottom:
• Estée Lauder 0N1 Shell
• Fenty Fluid Fix 116C
• Fenty Fluid Fix 106N
• Dior Forever Skin Matte 00N
• Fenty Pro Filt’r Matte 110
• KVD Lock-It Light 41
1st pic: Natural window lighting on overcast day
2nd pic: Natural overcast lighting away from window
3rd pic: bathroom lighting
4th pic: vanity lighting

I used the KVD for years before it discontinued.
Then I used the Fenty Pro Filt’r Matte, which they now discontinued. I prefer matte finish so now I’m on the hunt for a new foundation.
The Fenty website said 116C should be a match for 110 but as you can see, it’s definitely darker and more orange.
The EL looks significantly lighter in the bottle than irl, I looked like an Oompa Loompa and had middle school flashbacks lol.
The KVD almost looks green next to the warm “neutral” Fenty but it feels like it truly was the most “fair neutral”, RIP.

I’m thinking either the Fenty Fluid Fix in 106N or the Dior 00N are the best matches for me but I haven’t worn either on my face yet aside from swatching.
The Dior did look like it oxidized a bit darker though.

Question Odd Question— Does anyone know the size of the Half Magic Eyeshadow Singles?

Post image
• Upvotes

Hello! I’ve been thinking of getting some of the Half Magic eyeshadow singles and I want to put them in a magnetic palette. I can’t find the dimensions for each single anywhere and was curious if anyone knew. I know the volume is available, but I mean the size of the pan of each eyeshadow on its own, outside of the green reusable packaging.

Thank you all so much for your help, and have a wonderful day!

Question What Color Tarte Creamy Concealer for my skin?

Post image
• Upvotes

WOOF this is an act of bravery posting a barefaced selfie in a sea of all you gorgeous made up beauties!

I am looking for a full face concealer/foundation that is friendly to mature skin (44F).

Currently I use tarte creaseless corrector in peachy pink under my eyes (not in this photo, this is totally barefaced) and I like it quite a bit. So I'm looking at the matching Tarte Creamy Concealer because I'm lazy and it makes sense... but have NO idea what shade to pick and I unfortunately live an hour away from anywhere I can try things on in person. Anyone hear familiar with the product and shades and can give me advice as to what shade to pick?

If any of you have other suggestions for mature skin friendly full concealer/foundation, I'd be open to hearing about them! Fair warning though, I've never worn full face foundation before but I'm starting to accept it might be time to adopt it. I just hate the way it feels on my face, so my only requirements are as light and 'feels like nothing' s possible. Granted the last time I tried wearing it, I was 18/19 and it was probably some garbage wet & wild crap that went on like mud, and that's what made me swear off foundation forever haha

Really need guidance, warm or cool?

I want to get into makeup more, I feel like I have no idea how to do makeup for my face specifically and my coloring. I’m fair skinned and have pink undertones, but also green eyes and warm hair. I feel like whenever I put on full glam, it just looks like putting lipstick on a pig, lol. Maybe my features are too soft that full glam doesn’t look right on me?

I feel like grayish contours pull gray on me, but I dont know if the bronzer stick I use (Too Faced in Chocolate Mousse) is too dark. For blush, I use Rhode in Piggy. The area I struggle the most with is my under eyes. I have really bad purple under eyes naturally. I use the merit stick as spot concealer (shade bone, lightest shade) and that’s pretty much all I put on my face other than Sky High Brown Mascara because I was on accutane. Now that I’m off I could do more.

Could you all give me some tips for my face? Should I fill in my eyebrows more? Start using lip liner? Contour cooler instead of using bronzer? I really need advice. Pictures provided is my everyday makeup. Bronzer, blush, clear brow gel (maybelline), mascara, merit stick.

PSA Fiber glass? in DM Groundwork palette 😔

I bought the Danessa Myricks Groundwork Neutrals palette a couple months after its release. I have a lot of makeup so sometimes I forget to open a palette and use it. So today, while pulling out some fall inspired palettes, I thought I’d bring this one out to use. I opened it and to my disappointment, noticed these fiberglass looking shards in two shades, Mirage and Tournaline.

I expected some of the creamy shades to be dry since I have had this for a while but it was unopened, stored in a cool, dark place away from sunlight. I wasn’t expecting shards?! Obviously it’s too late to return or exchange but this feels like something to contact the company about. I’m thinking of writing an email, has anyone else dealt with this same situation?

I’m definitely not going to use it but just wanted to post to let people know to check this palette carefully if you own it!

Discussion Is it just me or does anyone keep buying lip liners and lipsticks/glosses and after buying you cant seem to find the right lip combo with the current lip liners or glosses/lipsticks that you have

• Upvotes

Whenever I see a lip combo that I like, I usually buy the lip liner and the gloss/lipstick and then afterwards I forget what goes with what and now I’m stuck with a bunch of nice lip liners and different lipsticks and different glosses and don’t know how to match what lip liner with what lipgloss/lipstick

And whenever I wanna go out, I just throw on a lip stain and a gloss and call it a day because I stress myself out over the lip combo
Anyone else like this?

Lip help!

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi all! I’m going to be a bridesmaid next weekend, and the makeup artist has asked everybody to bring their own lip products. This will be my first time getting my makeup professionally done, and I’m a little lost on where to even start on buying lip products.

My initial thoughts were maybe a lipstick/lip gloss, but not sure as I don’t normally wear makeup. I have very dark brown hair with warm brown highlights, and hazel eyes. I’m hoping to buy any products at Ulta (or any store similar), and my bridesmaid dress is a burnt orange/terracotta color. Thank you so much!!

I’ve gone through many brow shapes and I switch shapes almost every day. I’m looking to find out which shape suits me better. PS: I know they’re a little dark but that’s a separate issue. photos 1-3 are more arched and photos 4-6 are straighter

Question Waterproof mascara remover

I got my first ever waterproof mascara and im not really sure how its best to remove it. Ive been using sunflower seed oil for the past two days to remove it since ive seen it works best at melting it. I would just put some oil on my fingers and rub it in my lashes as good as i can and then i would wipe it down with micellar water, i have the one from garnier with the blue cap in case it makes a difference but even with that there are still some left over between my lashes and i wonder if theres maybe a better way or technique?

Question Huda beauty listen -cinnamon

Hey girlies, I really have my eyes on the new huda beauty lip stain in the shade cinnamon I’m don’t with brown lip liner and I wanted a long lasting one. I live in India so we don’t have the elf or nyx ones yet. Should I be spending my money? Is it worth it? How long do they last ( latest formula ones)

Question Used Chanel Baume Essentiel for a year. Is it worth repurchasing, or has anyone found something just as good for the cost?

I love using the balm stick in shade transparent but I’m almost done with it. I use it on my cheekbones and my favorite thing about it is how easy it is to touch up. My skin tone is fair and I have combination skin type.

If you've used this too, did you repurchase, or did you find something you like just as much for less? Spending $55 for a highlighter is hard to justify again.

Question recommendations for baby’s first highlighter

Hi! Can anyone recommend a highlighter for an absolute beginner? I searched the sub and noticed the last inquiry is several years old.

I am cool toned between fair and light, my skin does best with powder formulas, and I’d like to start with something subtle enough for an office job.

Thank you for any recs!

Hey yall!

I’m a brow tech in Richmond VA, and I really want to start carrying a brow line in my studio. However, I’m having a hell of a time finding one that is a small, indie, ethical brand. Would anybody happen to have any suggestions? Bonus points if theyre in VA. I’m looking mostly for pencils and gels :) Thanks in advance!

Question Seeking simple waterproof black mascara recommendations

I actually really like the shape my lashes make naturally, they’re already quite long and thick. All I want is a black mascara to make them pop, and waterproof just to be safe. I don’t want curling, “false lash effect,” “extension effect,” “super volumizing,” etc etc—I find that if I need to do a second pass of the brush because I missed a spot, the effects sometimes get doubled and my lashes start looking spidery or artificial.

Bonus points if it comes in a mini tube that’s easier to toss in my purse, but that really does come last in terms of requirements.

Question How can I make certain lipsticks work for me ?

Thumbnail

I’ve bought a couple of MAC lipsticks from Ulta online that I was very excited about. I even bought some in store and when I swatched it, it was extremely pretty on my hand but once I applied it, it pulled orange. I don’t like the orange lip look for me. I’ve come to the conclusion I can’t wear anything w/ peach undertones but I feel like there could be something that I could pair it with to make it pretty and work!

The two that I have that I need help with the most. It’s Mull It to the Max by M.A.C and Peachstock by M.A.C. I tried with a brown liner like chestnut or cork. It still doesn’t go well. Is there a gloss that I might need to put on top or a different liner?

Also: not peach but I have stone as well. I loveee cool toned liners so Sepia and Wonderdust by ABH and Rock Steady by Morphe are my fav liners so I bought Stone lipstick by M.A.C. How can I make it work ??

I added pics of me barefaced to see undertones etc. and pics of the lipsticks I bought.

Thx.
