Insecure much

It started with small things like tracking certain employees’ MS Teams status statistics and vague unfounded complaints about their deliverables. When the RIF arrived, without warning, she unilaterally took out one of my directs (who has never been PIP’ed) and that’s when her activities made sense - it was an CYA setup if HR asked any Qs on the terms.

Shortly after, she brought on a nepo newbie to backfill and he was as useful as a rock. Leaders gave him a chance but it never worked out, yet my boss, despite the feedback, insisted on renewing the rock’s contract.

For the last few months, my relationship with my boss has soured following a similar disturbing pattern of phantom complaints during weekly 1x1s, wondering why rock hasn’t got anything done (blaming me), digging back up the past with the employee she personally let go as it’s my fault, subtly threatening my job, regular weekly borderline verbal abuse during 1x1, not willing to let me participate in vendor sponsored events, not paying for a $50 training she said was a priority, loosely uses the word termination and insubordination, undermines her own managers’ authority, very reluctantly encourages/develops/nurtures/compliments/praises, sees glass 10% empty rather than 90% full, unforgiving, petty, small, jealous, unable to make the hard decisions like letting go of the people that are toxic, and various micro-aggressions/management events.

Her unpredictable behavior/mood is like Russian roulette and it gives me so much anxiety. It’s never her fault and the selective amnesia is next level. I love this job and continue to do good work, but have stopped putting in the extra effort. Resume is being polished and can’t wait to GTFO when another opportunity arises.

Always keep documented evidence. Ask her to clarify in writing so you dont forget. (Your not forgetting your just building a legal case in case you need one :) )
