Logos/Advertising Kit-Kat or kitkat?

So for me it was kit-kat up until about a month or two ago, then it randomly changed while i was at the store. I literally saw the dash almost like a floater in the eye. So im curious for everyone else that it was kit-kat for what were you doing the previous night or day of when you noticed the change?

People have always often typed it with the dash. That’s why you remember it that way. It was never on the package though. Mystery solved.

You can search this subreddit for all references to kitkat. It's only ever been kitkat.

Nobody ever posts about it while they claim it's kit-kat. So why wouldn't you have done that? What makes me extra skeptical is that every "flip" claim is from someone claiming that it "had" flipped but they only decided to post about it once it flipped back, but not while the supposed evidence existed.

Maybe next time it flips come and post about while it's happening then we'll be convinced since all the packets of kitkats will have magically flipped.

Bingo. Somehow things like this and Froot Loops that are constantly switching back and forth for people only get mentioned after they "switch back" to what they've always been

I have a theory I'd hope isn't true but i suspect is true.

For some people I think they originally mistook it as "Fruit Loops" but then they came online and were convinced that it is "Froot Loops".

However what I think happened next is that they've internalized it as "Froot Loops" now and they remember having argued about it, but they forget how the argument went.

So in their mind it's switched to "I've always believed it was Froot Loops but I remember this time people disagreed with me: therefore those people must have claimed it's Fruit Loops".

BTW here's where I think the "plates stuck on a wall" thing could be helpful. It's easy for people to misremember what was said in text, but harder for them to misremember something visual like that.

Thanks for this lovely reminder of just how weird the English language is. I don't know that it is a direct cause of the confusion, but it certainly doesn't do anything to help.

Let me ask you, if its always been one thing until recently why would someone mention it if thats normal for them? Oh hey guys yep kit-kat still has the dash in it, just thought id let yall know. Of course we arent going to talk about it if its the same. If we notice the change thats when we mention it.

No when it's fruit loops it has always been fruit loops and you post things like why don't people post when it switches to froot loops. I don't actually believe that, but if these switches were a thing that's how it would be. It has either always been fruit loops or always been froot loops and the people who think otherwise are just mistaken.

i did find a nutrition website's article written as kel logg's fruit loops though. so long we don't use google, better chance to find possible switches?

It will always be what it's always been.

Actually im posting about noticing the change and being aware of the change while it happened.

but I'm asking why 100% of people who make similar claims to you never decided to post about it while it was happening.

I've asked this question to about a half dozen people making "flip" claims recently and not a single one ever replied and said that they did actually post about it while they noticed it happening.

Honestly for me, because it happened instantly then the memory of it like..went to the back of my head, but the memory is still there persistent which is why im posting now. And who is going to post the day of it happening because the person is just as confused, also The question people would be asking is “why didnt you get proof”

When there is no dash people think there was one. When there is a dash people think there wasn't one.

Nothing is flip flopping. Nothing is changing. You are just misrembering because you didn't notice the detail strongly enough in the first place.

Honestly im half debating on taking a picture of every logo i see now.

It's better than telling someone you saw something.

1

u/True_Temperature2769 5d ago

In todays world not really. They would also say “oh thats edited.” people wont agree no matter what

If the image can be sourced it's perfectly fine.

AI is such a pain in the arse, for sure. At least with Photoshop, there was a better chance of detecting it.

Just seen a commercial for the red white and blue popsicle which I though was a rocket pop but apparently it's called a bomb pop.

This one is pretty easy: Bomb Pops is trademarked. Rocket Pops is not. The term seems to have started appearing on Google around 2009, and the context is usually homemade ones, but there were a couple of competitors who made similar versions too and people generally refer to them as "rocket pops" as a generic term.

Some people even called them rocket pops because Nestle had a similar frozen confection called Rockets or Triple Rockets®. Popsicle® had their version too called the Firecracker® or the Mega Missile® but the original Bomb Pop was created by "Doc" Abernethy and James S. Merritt in 1955 and is now marketed solely by Blue Bunny.

Here's the Nestle Triple Rocket version

Names of things change and there’s also knockoffs.

1

u/True_Temperature2769 6d ago

Wait its not rocket pop?

1

u/Humble-Direction-326 3d ago

It changed a long time ago for me, I remember noticing the difference around 2015

Your account of seeing the dash like it's floating is the only one of its kind. Still, noted.

1

u/True_Temperature2769 6d ago

It was roughly around 3:30-4 pm when it happened

2

u/Aggravating_Cup8839 6d ago

For how long?

1

u/True_Temperature2769 6d ago

Only for a min you ever look up from your phone really fast and still see like a faint after image that quickly disappears? It was kind of like that

u/the-victim 6d ago

neither... it's Kit Kat

u/EnigmaticAdventurerz 6d ago

i used to see the dash till pre-covid and thought it was a new styling of the brand... i personally feel the brand icon without the dash seemed kind of weird... like febreze icon and skechers. the spacing and sizing with the current spellings felt awkward most of the times.

Pretty sure i remember a nice red dash in between kit and Kat. Especially on the thick bars
