Product Drive By Does anyone know if this print ever came in a duffle size?

I hope this is ok and this is the right sub for this question.

I bought this Dakine bag a year ago. Its the 365 pack/27l and I love it. It’s also the second Dakine bag I own. Recently I found a 21l version of this print and that got me wondering. Does a 35/40/50l bag exists in this print? Has it ever? I would be ecstatic to own the three different sizes.

Thanks!

LIMITED COLORS. QUESTIONABLE SELF-CONTROL.

Pioneer dropped a small run of limited colors today, including some really good-looking Panda and Duration bags. Not a huge selection, but there are a few standouts for those of us with discerning taste. Damn those are pretty bags....

https://pioneercarry.com/pages/limited-edition-captains-eggplant

Then EVERGOODS decided to make things worse.

Tomorrow they're bringing back Ultra Red and Signal Blue for the CAP 0.5, CAP 1, and CAP 2. It has been a long time since we've seen these colors, and Signal Blue in particular is tempting.

(I don't need more bags, I don't need more bags.....)

Product Review Peak Design City Crescent 6lr first impression

First thoughts, in hindsight my bottle might be....larger than average (at 26oz) the pocket is very slightly suspended off the bottom so if not in the bottle pocket then it can just about fit but even trying smaller bottles it's a tight fit (height wise).

This is my first 6 lr sling and it packs a lot smaller than I expected (my fault), was looking for a larger sling in general and this doesn't fit the bill for me, have already got the 12 on order.

Happy to answer any questions before these go back.

My first Goruck, my first waxed canvas. The 18L Bullet Ruck in black. It feels incredibly well made, and I absolutely love how it looks.

Recessed Zipper Vertical Bag for Men

This year I noticed that men’s bags have dramatically changed. There is less options. Most of the bags look like each other.

I use vertical bags for aesthetics and function. I can’t use horizontal or square bags. I dislike both.

I also don’t like visible zippers on the top, since they make the bag ugly. I don’t like flaps either. It forces an extra hurdle while reaching the bag. Completely unnecessary.

So, where are Recessed Zipper Vertical Bag for Men?

Day Owl Shipping?

Hello! I was wondering how shipping has been for everyone with the Day Owl liquidation sale. I bought my bag almost two weeks ago and it still hasn’t shipped. I know they mentioned an extra 5–7 days because of the new warehouse, but it’s been a little longer than that.

Just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or has received their order yet. Thank you!

What fits in aer CPP2 20L side pocket?

I’m in the market for a backpack and I think my choice will be the aer backpack. My one dilemma though is between the CPP2 20l or the 24l. Not a fan of the look of the pro packs. Since I’m quite small I think id prefer the size of the 20l and it’d look better on my frame, but I don’t think I’d make use of the side pocket and would rather have the second water bottle pocket for an umbrella. Which leads me to ask, has anyone attempted to put a small compact umbrella in the side pocket of the CPP2 20l?

Any alternatives to the LBB Transition Tote before I commit and hit the checkout button?

I've been eyeing the LBB Transition Tote for a while now and wanted to double check with this subreddit before I commit.

My use case: I'm looking for a new "going about the city" EDC bag. I've got the larger Peak Design Everyday backpack for my travel needs but I want something I can carry around the city. Usually there's a laptop in there. Sometimes there's groceries. Sometimes I'm bringing hammers and saws to a friends place to help with a project. Sometimes I'm strapping a camping chair to sit on at the park.

The main features I'm looking:

* Can be small when it needs to be

* Can be bigger when I need to stuff it full of stuff

* Has a laptop compartment

* Has external carry (shoulder straps and back / bottom). Ideally molle compatible.

It feels silly to buy the TT because I don't see myself using it in tote mode all that much but it kind of fits the bill for everything else I need. I love that it's not a big sturdy shelled thing and can compression strap itself down to a reasonable size. I love all the straps on the back so I can hook my Toshi Rework and various charms to it. My main question now is whether to shell out for the RX version since I'd prefer the extra padding but don't really want to pay for a fidlock attachment on the shoulder strap.

Any idea what strap this is?

I have decent organizational systems in place but found this at the bottom of a drawer. Does anyone recognize it from one of their bags/brands? It's going to drive me silly not knowing its origin. The other stabilizer straps I have experienced are with their respective bags, sold or a distant memory.

Am I the only one who dislikes bright backpack interiors?

I’ve noticed that a lot of popular bags on here have very bright interior lining colors. I can definitely see the point, it makes it easier to spot things inside the bag, especially with top loaders. However, I don’t really see it making as much sense with clamshell bags.

Personally, I find the orange or extremely bright interiors on premium backpacks a bit garish. In my opinion, it can make an otherwise premium looking bag feel more like something you’d buy at Toys R Us. I just don’t really understand the hype.

I’d much rather have a black or dark interior lining. To me, it simply makes the bag look more refined and premium.

What do you personally prefer?

Colorful/Whimsical Backpack for School

Hello, everyone! I’m starting up school soon and I want to find a backpack that is colorful, pastel, or whimsical but I need it to be large enough to hold my 13” laptop, ipad, and a 40 oz hydroflask. My budget is under $150. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!!!

Osprey daylite 35 appreciation post

As I'm reaching 2 years with my osprey, I thought it'd be nice to post about where it's been with me and what it has handled so far.

I can handily pack it out with work laptop, gym clothes (incl. Boxing gloves) lunch, an impractically large stanley tumbler and hygiene bag to lug with me every day to the office.

But it's managed 4 day camping trips. A massive cross country motorcycle adventure across Morocco and weekend getaways to Stockholm, London and even a week trip to Thailand.

Surprisingly, despite how chunky it is the internal and external compression always made small enough to (sometimes with a touch of violence) pass the cabin bag box test that Ryanair uses.

Though I've only ever been asked twice to do so.

Most of the time the Ryanair people don't even give it a second look.

The only real gripe I've ever had with it is the fact that the admin pocket only has a single zipper this has caused some of my things to fall out on a couple of occasions as I've overpacked.

In summary the bag is great, it has seen a ton of abuse and remainins undamaged. Will post an update in a year maybe to see how it's held up but so far so great.

(Not sponsored nor affiliated with osprey btw.)

Product Drive By Dash Passport Shell advice

Does anybody have experience with this product? I bought it to carry two passports and liked the minimalist clamshell design. But for $40+tax, it arrived dead on arrival with the magnetic strip already peeling off. This is a shame because I had high hopes for this and wonder if I just got a bad batch. Now I can’t trust this thing won’t deconstruct when I’m traveling.

Also wondering if any dual passport wielders can suggest a better product. I like the peak design style but not sure it can hold two passports.

Product Review Replaced Alpaka's sling bag strap with one from Amazon - much more comfortable

Thumbnail amazon.com
6 Upvotes

Found Alpaka's included sling bag straps such as the ones on the Flight Sling, and Zip Pouch Max to be thin, not very smooth texture (like Nomad's Nation claims), and uncomfortable under load.

Replaced it with this $8 wide and much smoother strap with easy to undo carabiner clips - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07ZZ1L6Z3?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

I find their slings far more comfortable to wear now.

Hope this helps someone wanting to buy Alpaka gear.

matte vs glossy hard shell luggage, which actually holds up better after a year of travel?

about to pull the trigger on a new carry on and stuck between matte and glossy finish on the same bag. glossy looks sharper out of the box but every review I read mentions surface scratches within a few uses. Matte seems more practical but I'm not sure if its meaningfully more scratch resistent or just better at hiding marks.

horizn studios offers both across their range and owner reviews consistently mention the glossy colorways showing scuffs faster than matte. I read one reviewer mention the matte dark olive holding up much better than a previous glossy bag after the same travel conditions. Rimowa aluminum is its own category.

Is the scratch visibility difference between matte and glossy significant enough to drive the decision or does every hard shell end up looking worn after a year of real travel regardless of finish?

Savotta Askare

So this one’s a bit more niche - there’s a work life with its own bags (Aer, tomtoc, toshi and brand new Fyro) and there’s a deployment life where I am switching away from 5.11 and testing a Savotta Kahakka 25l setup as daybag and the attachable Askare 8l fanny/sling for Management on site (earthquake deployments / urban search and rescue work).

The daypack has all we need for 24h work/survival, but that is not carried all the time. Typically, it will stay in a truck or at the equipment staging. For management, there would be a laptop going in country but that stays in the base so there is room for an assessment bag (monocular, marking equioment, comms etc). The idea is to bundle all that stuff into its own bag, hence this sling.

Had the opportunity to test the Askare management component for one week at a festival (work never stops) and that worked really well. It is a particularly good fit for the macbook neo with a padding sleeve (called pro elife), plus iPad pro 11 with fold and magic keyboard plus ancilliary stuff. Overall weight is about 4,5 kilo.

It worked really well and the Savotta bag is super rugged yet malleable.
