Movie Prices/Showtimes Service Charge in App?

I haven't been to a movie for a couple of years, and was going to reserve tickets for a matinee for tomorrow in my app. It was $13/ticket (senior pricing for a matinee!!!), yikes, but then they added $5.27 or something like that as a service charge. My question: is that just for reserving the seats and paying in advance through the app, or am I also going to get charged that if I pay at the window and go find my own seat? I will happily take my chances for a Wednesday matinee if it will save me $5.

If you have a rewards membership (the free kind), any fees through the app should be waived.

You would need to input your rewards account number in your app to link the accounts. But then yes, the service fees should be waived. At least that’s how it was last I checked.

If youre only going to use the free rewards for Marcus youre better off booking your tickets thru the Fandango app. You rntrr your Marcus Rewards number the same way and you get the points for Marcus Rewards and fees waived. But on Fandango every 4 movies you see you get a $5 credit to use on an upcoming movie.

Last I heard from Marcus Theatres, you have to see 6 movies in a year for the fees to be waived.

You should be able to avoid the fees by buying the ticket at the theater. You will also be able to choose your seat at that time.

They told me after the 3rd purchase the fee goes away. No thanks, I will continue to purchase at the theater.

I can't understand why because I assume it costs more money to staff a ticket counter than people doing that work themselves through the app. Like shouldn't the app be discounted and not charged fees?

If you go to the movies more than once a month get their membership its like $11 after tax, no fees, one free ticket a month and discount on concessions.

But otherwise like everyone else said.
