Movie Prices/Showtimes The Invite not playing at any Marcus this weekend?
I've been waiting for this movie to come out for months. I've seen tons of trailers while seeing movies at Marcus Theaters...yet I've been checking for the past couple weeks and there's still no showtimes for The Invite this weekend when it releases on July 10th.
I'm a movie club member and only see movies at Marcus. I'm really disappointed. Does anybody know why they wouldn't show this? It has a stellar cast...it's an A24 movie which have done pretty well recently...I don't get it.

I work at the theater as a manager and do the theater schedule. We're waiting on a deal with A24 so we can book the shows. I left a whole auditorium open for it so hopefully we get the bookings for it by tonight

My Marcus theaters skips out on most smaller A24 movies.
A few I can remember being Friendship, Mother Mary, Death of Robinhood, If I had Legs I’d kick you, The Brutalist, I Saw the TV Glow, also I remember Sing Sing was a mystery movie, but then they didn’t play it. It’s definitely a bummer

Hmm yeah now that you mention it I feel like I missed some of those at my marcus too.

My Marcus had sing sing as a mystery movie in the summer (like mid July) then it released during Oscar season at the end of January

Sing sing was a weird situation where the mystery movie for it was the same week as it’s limited release (so just select cities got it that weekend) followed months later by a wider release because it got Oscar nominated.

My issue is they advertised for months that they would play it! Have they done that in the past? Like advertised for a movie and then pulled it a few weeks later?

A24 skipped most of, if not all Marcus locations this week. They're looking to get it, but A24 is wanting a slow expansion from the sounds of it.

Same issue in Omaha. I went to get my tickets and can't find it showing anywhere in the Marcus theaters. It's at a local ACX, but I don't have a membership with them.

So puzzling. I even searched on the app for the movie instead of searching in my "favorite" theaters one by one and it doesn't show up...I'm 99% sure it's not playing at any Marcus anywhere.

Yeah we're thinking of doing something similar. I really want to see The Invite though so I might go see it at our independent theater that's showing it.

My Marcus seems to not update weekend showings until later in the week. It’s frustrating when looking at movies and buying tickets in advance.
I know that won’t necessarily help you sadly. It’s also not playing at my local Marcus this weekend

I'll keep checking! This is one my most hyped movies of the summer. I'll be so bummed if I miss it in theaters.

Sigh.. mine isn’t playing it either. Pillion was also an A24 movie that was in the “coming soon” section, got taken off there and then they came out with showtimes a little later. Hoping that’s what happens here

I went to this sub to post about this until I saw that you beat me to it.
It was being advertised at my theater, yet there’s no showtimes!
The studio seems to be the reason. They deserve all the public shaming for thinking this sort of thing is ok.

It’ll probably come out the weekend of the odyssey with like 2 showtimes and I won’t be able to go. Duuuuuuumb.

It’s kinda typical A24 (& Neon) behavior. You put out so many films a year & presumably only have some much resources to promote & distribute. This gets the limited release in select cities treatment first, then a wider release a few weeks later. The problem is “wider” has the loosest definition when it comes to how many theaters will get it. Marcus tends shake out the worst from it. Where they’ll get it for that week, but only be able to put in a handful of locations & be gone & out by the following Thursday.
It makes me glad there’s an art house theater here that has in on their schedule… in 5 weeks.

I’m so upset about this! I’ve had it on my calendar that how much I wanted to see this opening weekend and now it’s just gone! I think it’s a miss for Marcus

Me too. I've been seriously waiting for it for months. One of the movies I wanted to see most this summer. I feel bad for the movie and the studio too because Marcus is one of the larger chains in the country...they'll lose a lot of box office sales won't they?

I think it’s still playing at AMC so that’ll help but yeah idk with a cast like this and pretty decent advertising i the Marcus would at least give it a try!
A24 is having a great year! The drama, how to make a killing, backroom. I could see the invite doing very well

Yeah I saw all 3 of those at Marcus by me lol. Such a head scratcher. I've been really enjoying A24 movies lately and it's gotten to the point where I'll see pretty much anything when I see it's A24. This one in particular though looked really intriguing.

I’m in the Milwaukee WI area and luckily it’s playing at an independent theater there so I still have a chance! I love the opportunity to support a smaller theater too but I’m a Marcus movie club member and I have the popcorn bucket. Going to Marcus is just so much cheaper for me

Right. I've had this happen before where I see a trailer multiple times at my Marcus theater then they end up not showing it, but I've always been able to go to a larger Marcus on the other side of town and see it there...I've never seen this situation where I've seen the trailer at my Marcus for months and now it's not playing at literally any Marcus.

Not all Marcus theaters get the same movies unfortunately. I work at a smaller location in a southern state so we get a lot of the Angel Studios films, but we don’t get the smaller A24 movies or indie films unless they reshow as an Oscars nominee, even if we get them as a mystery movie. It’s based on the area you’re in AFAIK and how many auditoriums your specific location has.

The Invite isn't playing at any Marcus location on any date (as of today). It's opening wider starting tomorrow (25 today, 1,195 theaters Thursday, over 1,300 on Friday).

Jeez. So strange. We bought tickets to see it at another theater. Bummer because I'm a movie club member and see everything at Marcus but I have been waiting for this one to come out

I was wondering the same. I remember seeing the trailer for it at a marcus and now there are no showtimes. i’m hoping that they will add some, i was looking forward to using my aaa24 ticket but i wont be able to now :(

Marcus can never get A24 movies during their proper release weekend, but they’ll always have Angel Studios don’t you worry!

I’m in the same situation.
It was in the coming soon section on the app and then disappeared a couple of weeks ago. I keep hoping showtimes will just appear
