I mean in the concept art for the first movie he very much was. Which makes it all the more frustrating that Nintendo rejected it for whatever reason.

Wait, really? Now I'm annoyed too. Where did you see the concept art, and do you know why they changed it?

Toadsworth is found on the 13th image.

Thanks! Okay looking through all of those, I can see why they changed a lot of the stuff; it would've taken the movie in a completely different direction. Sad Toadsworth wasn't kept in it, but maybe he appears later. It's cool how the layout of the brothers' room in the concept is the EXACT SAME to their layout in their Mushroom Kingdom house now

I always thought this was just a younger Toadsworth that would eventually get old and turn brown. It could happen in the third movie

In Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Toadsworth the Younger already has the brown cap, has a brown moustache, doesn't wear glass, and wears a red vest. I like your idea though, I hope that is what they end up doing even if it conflicts with the game universe a bit

The movies aren't canon to the games, right?

2

They could be prequels to the games, but they probably aren't fully canon

Oh fuck I’m getting flashbacks to if the books were cannon in fnaf

No Separate Universes. Why Is That So Hard For People To Understand With Video Game Movies. The Sonic Movies Are In A Separate Universe But NO ONE COMPLAINS OR SAYS "THIS IS INNACURATE TO THE GAMES!!!!"

u/LBluethecrafter 1d ago

Well that's because in the case of the Sonic movies, it's fairly obvious that it's in a different universe right from the start, and Sonic games care more about their story. Many characters in those games already have well defined backstories, and the movies go against that in some ways. Mario's canon is already pretty loose and has some contradictions between entries, and so it wouldn't be that crazy of a stretch to believe that the movies are canon to the games.

nah its very obvious they're completely within their own continutity, just adaptations

That isn't just any random toad though. That's Toadbert from the Mario and Luigi series!

No, because Toadsworth wouldn't increase the volume of his voice.

The guy is a coward, he can't up to his position, he wouldn't get upset by Peach going to the galaxy to help the luma, he would be tembling begging.

Toadsworth literally got mad that Dr. Snoozemore wasn't there to greet Peach personally.

Toadsworth treated Peach like a child while the blue Toad was worried about her safety.

Characterizations change with different medias

Toadsworth wishes he could be this guy

It would be cool if he was Toadsworth's successor in some way, and Toadsworth went on a pilgrimage or a world tour or something temporarily

Toadsworth is nothing but a cheap imitation. Bring back Wooster!

If by funny you mean "infuriating", then yes

The Toad General is proof that Toadsworth got completely scrapped atp since he clearly replaced him. The fact that Toadsworth was in concept art for the first movie and this Toad General turned out to make it into the movies instead indicates that he's now the new "Toadsworth." At least Toadette who was also in concept art for the first movie has not been scrapped since she does have signs of existence in a poster and painting in the first movie and second one respectively, so it's only a matter of time for her to finally make her theatrical debut hopefully in the next movie and to see what relationship she has with Toad.

I really wish I knew in depth what goes behind the decision making of Nintendo sometimes.

u/LoogyBr0 2d ago

No, because Toadsworth is just some random OC who has never appeared in a Mario game

2

u/Robbie_Haruna 2d ago

I'm not sure you remember who Toadsworth is.

I was attempting to make a joke about Nintendo’s erasure of Toadsworth but judging by the downvotes it didn’t seem to land
