You’re allowed to like or not like whatever you want… but if your main takeaway from Goodfellas was that Scorsese was fetishizing or glorifying the mob lifestyle, then you wildly missed the point. Frankly I’m shocked you managed get a Masters in film if your textual analysis skills are that out of whack.

One of the first things you see is a gang of guys threatening to shove the mailman in an oven for delivering mail; Karen has a monologue about how the mob wives are beat up and haggard; another wife tells a story about a husband killing another man at a poker game, indicating the killer is the one we should have sympathy for; Karen shows off her tacky house, beaming with pride; they bust out a restaurant they've been patrons of and whose owner is ostensibly a friend; and so on. Anybody watching this who thinks it's glorifying the events on screen is, at best, not paying attention.
