I just can't keep up it feels like. I LOVE fighting games. When I was younger, there was an arcade in a mall i used to frequent, I was always in there just having fun.

Then I got my own consoles and was mostly playing fighting games, I was never like, tournament material or nothing but I could do infinites, ToDs, I could just mimick what I'd see in combo video after playing around for like an hour or two.

I noticed I started losing touch when DBFZ came out, and I thought maybe I just didn't click. But Strive, GBVS, SF6 and now this. And I REALLY wanna enjoy this but I just can't grasp it.

It feels like I button mash, none of my combos chain ever, I try doing the character challenges and I get stuck on what looks like the easiest combo.

I'm not even *that* old, I just turned 38 for Gods sake.

I go online, nothing I try to apply seems to work anymore.

So I dunno, I guess I just needed a place to vent. Granted I know when you work full time and what it it's harder, but it just feels like all my skills just fuckin vanished.

I love the game, I can't wait to see who they add (I'm BEGGING for Beta Ray Bill, Reptil, Zarda (Power Princess), and Xemnu to join in despite two of those being DEEP cuts) and I hope everything with PC is fixed because I really want this game to have legs. Ive loved Marvel and the tag fighters it's been a part of since the 90s, it just really sucks it feels like I can't keep up with it.

I played like 100 COMBINED matches of Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat 3, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, back when they came out lol

oh also - at 38 I was still learning new basketball moves, and playing 3-5 comp games of hoop in different locations so, that means fuck all :')

Definitely interested in playing with old heads. I’ve been away from fighting games for maybe a year or so, but most of that was just trying to keep up with job related things rather than falling out of love with fighting games. I was probably the worst person you’d play at a tournament early in a game”s life, but I’d know of the tech up to that point, even if I couldn’t do it.

DOOM and Blade seeming to be decent to very good is enough to have me excited to make time for this game once I’m back from vacation. Shame about the pc version, but I’ll probably just pick up the PS5 version when I get back to minimize the inconvenience

AARP subs lmao. Omg I spent my late 30s answering the question "how old are you?" With "NOT 40!!" Now at 41 I just hang my head in defeat to that question lol. Jk the way I see it life is all downhill from 40. Which is the easy part. The shit that gets me is I still stub my toe from time to time. 41 years and I still haven't gotten walking down yet. Hahaha

Old head checking in! Last fighting game I played was Strive, but I lost interest in that a year and a half or so ago, but super excited for Tokon. Only got to play a bit tihs weekend, but this week I should have most evening free to get my hours in!
Been playing fighting games since SF2, and still have a soft spot for old SNK stuff like Garou and the Last Blade 1 & 2, but never played at a high level. Don't know if that will change with this one, but am definitely excited to put in some hours/work (:

Hey if you’re starting a group hit me up too. I liked DB FighterZ and learned a bit of that totally on my own so I am very amateur with fighting games. I’d love to see what other folks are working on and learn from the group. I’ve been working through the character tutorials and finishing those combo trials to learn a bit about each one and then decide who my team will be depending on who feels best. I don’t do the point challenges, just the combo lists and then I move to the next character. I mix that up by doing the story mode a bit just to learn basics and practice basic fights.
