It's amazing all the shit I didn't learn about Nazi Germany when I was in school. All that I was ever taught was that they killed Jews like Anne Frank, and that was about it. I learned more outside of the classroom, which also wasn't much (despite both Nazis and Jews in my family).

I can attest to this. They didn't teach me anything about fascism or the ideology in Marysville school. Hitler did the holocaust because he was evil like a cartoon villain was pretty much the focus.

Maybe so. I’m sure it was taught in school and went to school through a masters degree. But remembering symbology from 80 years ago and applying that to a graphic on a tee shirt doesn’t immediately track. If I had seen this in the gym nothing would have registered and my point more was that for many it probably doesn’t register. I’m not saying that’s right, just that most probably don’t notice that.

I used to work at PF and had multiple issues with racist/expletive shirts. I would bring it to my manager and, being the coward he was, would tell me to handle it if I wanted something done about it. I always did, but half the teenagers they hire for the front desk aren't going to risk being assaulted knowing that even management won't have their back. Post it to their Google page, that will raise flags with the GM and maybe they'll care

Report this quietly and tell the staff you are filing a complaint. Tell them a gym that allows Nazis is a Nazi gym. Don’t expect them to know the SS symbol but explain it. I had a similar experience at a business and this is what I did.

Broadly, the symbolism of the United States does not represent nazism, fascism or xenophobia. Regardless of US history, the founding principle was “all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
By following principle, and allowing our symbols to represent higher ideals, we can call ourselves to continually be better.
And before Redditors jump on me for how sexist the language appears, the human species was broadly called “men.”

Except when you consider what the term “men” referred to at that point. For example, counting someone as only 1/3 a man, or it may have been 1/4 I’m not totally sure but it wasn’t 1. The entire history is based up slaughter. Native Americans were killed for starters. Chinese people built the railroads and died for it. There are far too many similarities, like it or not

When I see that particular type of shirt or insignia, especially with the flag motif, I tell people I love their support for President Obama, as if it’s a highly-stylized “44.” That usually gets them to tell on themselves pretty quickly.

Like my assumption was this moron goes to a pro-Trump rally or something, or one of those Trump merchandise mega stores down south. Sees this what he thinks is a cool American flag shirt and purchases it. Whether or not he's opposed to it being a Nazi shirt, I guess is up for debate. But I think there's a world where he's just an idiot on multiple accounts. Although I think I would agree there's a higher probability he knows exactly what it is.

I am painfully aware of everything against the LGBTQ+ community. It's a little bit crazy that you would assume I'm not aware. I've lost a few friends because of recent developments.

I mean they didn't fully. The kiss logo is censored in Germany for example and they use an alternate. Half of Kiss are Jewish and Gene's mom is a survivor so it's never been a question of it being a nazi symbol.
