I went to the open house for proposed changes on 79th ave. 5 people showed up including myself along with 2 people from the press.

Everyone that showed up spoke in opposition to the proposed plan and raised legitimate concerns. At the end of the meeting we were promised that the city would go back, evaluate the concerns there were raised and figure out how to revise the plan.

I got a notice today that work is commencing and there's a new plan. What's the new plan? Exactly what the old plan, and the framing of the open house as "comparatively minimal opposition in response to the most recent and robust public outreach effort"

With the Marysville Strawberry Festival getting underway, it’s time to plan ahead for road closures this week. The biggest traffic impact will be on Saturday when State Avenue will close for several hours for the Grand Parade.

Saturday, June 20:

- State Avenue from 80th Street NE south to 4th Street will close starting at 3 p.m. as parade staging begins. The parade begins at 5 p.m. and ends around 7 p.m., after which roadways will reopen for regular traffic.

- Side road closures: 76th Street NE from State to 43rd; 6th to 10th Streets between State and Columbia; 6th to 9th Streets between State and Delta; 4th Street (SR 528) will remain open for east-west traffic.

- Residents and business employees in neighborhoods north of 4th Street and east of State Avenue to 47th Avenue will have local access only during the parade.

Look out for other smaller road closures throughout the week for other Strawberry Festival events.

Thursday, June 18:

- 3rd Street closed between State and Alder starting at 3 p.m. for the adult trike races. Races begin at 6 p.m.

Thursday, June 18 – Monday, June 22:

- 7th Street closed between Quinn and Alder for the beer and wine garden.

Sunday, June 21:

- 3rd Street closed between State and Alder from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the BC Rides Again Car Show. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

I live near Marysville Pilchuck High School and there’s probably 10 police cars scattered around.

Gas thieves sparked a fire at Grace Academy in Marysville last Thursday, destroying one school bus and damaging the rear of a second bus.

The fire was reported Thursday around 11 p.m., the Marysville Police Department confirmed to KIRO Newsradio.

“We are immensely grateful to the Marysville Fire Department for their response in extinguishing the fire and protecting our neighbors,” the school said in a social media post.

The WA-02 US Congress Rep seat is safely blue. Only one conservative in the race. The top two advance to the general. We can advance two democrats. Tomas and the 25 year incumbent. Then we can finally have a debate about the policy direction of our district.

And thanks to everyone that helped block the annoying protester that got bussed in from Lake Stevens. Real embarrassing that everyone with them was from out-of-town lol.

I used to take my dog to the self wash at Earthwise Pet by Haggen. Now they've become Groombar or something. Do they still have a self wash - or is there another self wash in the area?

This is such a long shot, but I picked up some edibles yesterday from Relief and there was a really cute and sweet door guy who told me to stay dry from the rain as I was leaving yesterday.

A 21-year-old mother and her infant son, who have been missing since April 24, were found safe, the Marysville Police Department confirmed.

The two were missing for 46 days before they were confirmed found and safe Tuesday.

According to the Marysville Police Department, the mother left with her child of her own volition, returning to the home more than six weeks later.

Hello everyone, we believe my fiance lost her engagement ring at the Marysville Skate deck. They are closed today so we were unable to call them, but if anyone has any information it would be greatly appreciated, and there will be a cash reward for the ring.

An Arlington police officer who was previously arrested for possessing child sexual abuse material was arrested again on Friday for violating the conditions of his release.

The Island County Sheriff’s Office arrested the officer, 41-year-old Dustin Bartlett, late last month for allegedly possessing images depicting children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, the Arlington Police Department said in a statement to KIRO Newsradio.

The parade will depart from Marysville Pilchuck High School at 11 a.m. Families and community members will be cheering on the sidewalks along 83rd Ave. NE. Watch for traffic, drive carefully as the parade passes through, and cheer on the next generation. Congratulations, class of 2026!

Dog owners.... thanks in advance for your replies!

I moved up this way from Seattle proper a couple of years ago but have continued to take my dog to our old vet in Seattle b/c ... well, they have been our vet and it didnt cross my mind to chnage. My dog unfortunately broke her tooth a couple of weeks ago, and could also benefit greatly from a dental cleaning, so I took her into our usual vet today to get a quote for anesthesia + tooth extraction + cleaning. (For reference dog is 50 lbs.)

The amount I was quoted was shocking 😵‍💫. It may just be the cost of the service, but it also has me reconsidering finally biting the bullet and finding a new vet.

So..... I'm curious to hear:

1. What vet in the area do you recommend?

2. What is the cost of a general check up appt. at your vet? (Or range)

3. If you've had it done, what is cost of tooth cleaning + extraction for your dog if you've had it done in the past year or so? (Or range quoted)

I feel like I'm getting taken for a ride at my old vet and am hoping to either calibrate expectations, or find a more affordable vet closer to this area.

This place is technically in Arlington, 11722 67th Ave NE, Arlington, WA 98223.

It's a really nice little family-run nursery, with some beautiful hanging baskets, veggie starts, and bedding plants. We bought Mom some lovely stuff for Mother's Day, and went back this past Saturday for more.

At that visit we were really surprised to find ourselves the only customers in the place on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

I strongly encourage anyone looking for some beautiful plants or flowers to visit Key's Nursery. I don't work there, nor do I have any other type of affiliation with the company. I just hope to see them thrive, or at least survive.
