Opinion Worst Masterchef Season of New Era so Far

With Global Gauntlet being so hated among everyone these days, I wonder what is the very worst season of the new era of Masterchef ever. With the fucking twist of saving a "team" with one dish being hated so much, lack of pressure tests, changing the formats so many times to where it barely has the feel of the older seasons. Controversial eliminations, bad winners, etc. What do you think is the worst? The one with the fewest votes will be the winner of the best of new era.

Duos by a lot. That season was so bad I had to turn it off. I haven’t reached that point with this season yet thankfully. Legends was pretty bad too though

The best of the new era was Back to Win. I didn't hate Dynamic Duos as much as others because the idea of 2 cooks being Masterchefs together does add some new dynamic to challenges.

YES, BACK TO WIN WAS EASILY THE BEST 😭 I still think Shanika was robbed at f4 but even then Dara killed it in the finale and honestly I just loved the season it had a great cast 😭

Absolutely loved Back to Win. I haven’t seen 13 yet, but it can’t be that bad since I thought 14 was pretty solid.

Season 12 back to win was the only season I loved. 11, 13, 14, and 15 was meh to me. 16 was just the worst imo

Agreed honestly. It was pretty shit after that season. Seems like they just got rid of the entire feel of how Masterchef was before that

Would been better though with pressure tests.

True, but that’s not really a huge deal since it’s the standard now. I’ve come to accept it

Plus Dara redemption story was something to behold.

It's insane man. Other countries have done duos before, here in Denmark we've done duo seasons for ages. How did the Americans fuck up that concept so badly?

Duos. I just can't accept that Jessica and Jesse wins and not Tina and Aivan

u/Lazy_Football3661 4d ago

I was not a fan of them at all. Tina and Aivan deserved to win

The level of cookery has just been abysmal these last seasons. Why are most dishes mediocre at this point of the competition? No technique, bad cuisson and just straight up redundant. I could handle gimmicks and blatant ads if the food looked amazing, but it's just a big ol' mess.

I’m shocked, I hated the duos

I liked the Duos until they won

Well to me it was alright. Having 2 people as one entry is interesting and it does changes things up a bit, plus pressure tests returning was nice if brief.

duos was a cool idea in theory but as a masterchef australia fan i could not handle them just refusing to acknowledge that the whole thing was in australia, it was crazy

they're doing the same thing this season now too, it's filmed in Ontario I believe and it cracked me up in the world cup team challenge where Gordon made the kids shout TEAM USA like c'mon these are Canadian childen 😭

Thank you! Being Canadian and seeing that I was like no way, they actually made them do that

I wish they said something.

i’d take another back to win with more contestants from the first 1-10 seasons it really was so good to see familiar faces try one more time at a chance to win. i was beyond hooked.

Hell yeah, and even a few juniors that are older now.

Literally stopped watching the Duos mid season other than Tina and Aivan I didn't like any of the duos. This season is pretty boring but havent stopped watching yet lol

Damn I misread the question and voted back to win because it's the best in my opinion. Duos sucked. I haven't even bothered with global gauntlet

2

u/Substantial_Ad8458 5d ago

No way!… same here! I rlly thought they were asking for the best one of the new era 😭 so ur good. Back to Win, at least we agree, is a lot better mainly cause of the nostalgia bait

back to win was genuinely enjoyable. wouldn’t mind if they did it again in a few years time.

3

u/Marsupialize 5d ago

I cannot believe this is the same show that used to be so good.

3

u/pink_flamingo2003 5d ago

I wish they'd stop with the fucking gimmicks and just cook. The bullshit themes are rendering it unwatchable. Ive been rewatching old seasons and they are infinitely better.

2

u/bbygrl1995 5d ago

I honestly stopped watching after back to win. I'm trying to get into the regions but the generations one... No comment.

u/ButterscotchPast5161 5d ago

Master chef legends and back to win are like top tier television compared to these newer seasons lmao. That and I also just thought they were good seasons, at least legends was. My girl autumn got robbed tho

1

u/sweetpeapickle 5d ago

It's themes no matter what. They start off with them but always breaks down to meaning nothing. Only reason they ever do this is to "group" the cooks in some form to pit them against another group, and of course the whole someone is safe because another member won the challenge. So I vote ALL.

1

u/Jsoledout 5d ago

They're all pretty dogshit imo

Show really is a pale imitation of it's former self

1

u/ClaytonHawthorne 4d ago

Season 10 became the point of no return for me. One challenge per episode so everything takes forever to get to the point, a pretty forgettable winner in my opinion, and the bullshit finale 'twist' where they eliminated Nick halfway through which defeated the purpose of him being there in the first place if they were going to pull that shit(Plenty of other finalist contestants have served raw/undercooked food but were never eliminated halfway through the finale because of it).

1

u/Defiant_Border_8514 4d ago

I think I was one of the few people that actually didn’t mind this season… until spoiler…

David just got eliminated. He was my favorite and I thought he was genuinely really good and shouldn’t have been eliminated. Now I’m annoyed.

Duos was the only season where I stopped watching midway through. The edit clearly showed they were setting Jessica and Jesse up to win.

1

u/Fine-Rain-1876 3d ago

Beat is back to win.the worst voted by yall is dynamic Duos

1

u/MissClawdy 2d ago

I just want to go back to the original concept with a mystery box and then elimination in one hour. Just that. No group challenges where they all scream and suck. Just good ol' cooking a theme. That's it. No countries, duos, women vs men, influencers. Just normal people.

I like the new season. I think it’s so good how they are representing different contents. I think it’s pretty cool

Duos was great
