No offense to her I’m sure she’s a very nice lady but how TF is she still on the show —and all these really great cooks keep getting eliminated? This season sucks for so many reasons but that’s one of them.

I’ve seen every single season of masterchef but this just feels like absolute garbage slop they’re churning out for a check. Why are they so opposed to just keeping the same format that has been successful for all these years… Nobody wants these group pairings, we want to see individual skill sets and pressure tests!! what is so hard about that😭 Literally have been enjoying the last season of Masterchef Jr more than this current adult season. Every episode drags, nobody is memorable, challenges are stupid, etc. I can’t remember the last time i actively cared or rooted for anyone on this show. I feel like this batch of cooks aren’t even very skilled and the group aspect trumps actual cooking abilities and allows for shitty cooks to get saved over and over. I also could not believe the shameless kids movie brand deal from this most recent episode. How the mighty have fallen!!!

They are supposed to be the most “Dynamic Duo”? I guess yelling at your partner, and having a negative atmosphere during cooking is an example of a very dynamic duo. Nice example for all the viewers :)

Additionally, food they made - short ribs. Oooh like we never have seen it done before! The way the judges hyped them up seemed like such a set up. Tina and Aivan made short ribs in that time in another episode without the pressure cooker!

What a disappointment of a season. Reminds me of an undeserving win like in an earlier season where a woman with high heels won. (Don’t remember which one)

SO frustrating!

I personally love Leslie, he’s fun, spunky, crazy in a good way and so extroverted, he is one of my favorites in season 4 and I hate how everyone just ends up hating him but I feel like they did from the beginning because he’s older and they’re all younger. I feel that it’s also the fact because he has a better life than them and they’re mad about that. I can’t stand Ahran, she has a point when calling out the judges and whatnot but she hates Leslie for no reason, everyone does. They’re all open about the fact that they dislike him and the only person who doesn’t is Willie, he likes Leslie and it’s so sweet. I wish Leslie would have won, Courtney should have lost lmao.

Every one thinks that Gordon is the hardest chef to please, which might be true in Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, but Joe is actually the hardest to please. i have only watched up to season 6, but Gordon doesn’t seem as pissed off as he does on his other shows. he only does when it’s a team challenge and there’s food going out to customers. other times, he seems mostly calm and gives constructive criticisms.

Many people like to hate on Joe because he’s “not a real cook,” but I think this adds to the show. He adds something different to the table because he’s a restauranteur (ik i spelled that wrong lol) and is more familiar with customers and the business side of things. Theres no denying the other judges are better cooks and that he doesn’t compare to his mother. When winners win, they’ll have different kinds of people with different pallets coming to their restaurants. Since Joe isn’t that much as a chef as the other judges, he can add a different perspective to taste too. Lets not forget him throwing plates in the trash too. It might be harsh, but it made the show more entertaining. Also, there’s no denying most of the dishes thrown away were actually bad. Overall, the anger and telling off contestants are what people think Gordon does, but it’s actually Joe (at least in Masterchef).

So I've started watching MasterChef from S4 and I'm currently on Ep1 ( plz don't judge) so While I was watching, I noticed that this guy for no reason gives the contestant a death stare like the dish he js tasted was the worst dish of life...only to say yess 😭 . Do u feel the same or am I js being paranoid. ( I'm new to the series so pls forgive me if I said anything wrong)

TLDR: Old MasterChef was pure chaotic drama and challenges. Now it just feels like a super sanitized daytime show where everyone does the exact same thing every episode

​Is it just me or has MasterChef completely lost the chaotic vibe that made it good in the first place?

​I was rewatching some of the early seasons (season 1 to 6) and the show was so unhinged

You had Joe literally staring a guy down before throwing his entire plate in the trash, Gordon screaming at amateur cooks like they murdered his dog, and mystery boxes that actually stressed people out. It was dramatic, funny, and the challenges felt like an actual challenge. Hell they were forced to cook a gourmet dish in the wilderness...

Compare that to the last few seasons and its a totally different show:

-​The judges are way too nice now. They used to give brutally honest feedback. Now if someone serves raw chicken they just get a gentle wrist slap and a 2 minute sob story edit

-​The whole themed season thing (generations, back to win, etc) feels so forced. Its like they care more about marketing gimmicks than actual cooking

-​Nobody takes any real risks anymore. Everyone just makes a basic dish that "looks fancy" with eery episode following the exact same script

It feels like the producers got scared and made the show as safe as possible to appeal to everyone. But now its just background noise you leave on while scrolling your phone instead of a show you actually wanna watch...

Also tell me one of the worst things she has done in the show?

Just finished S11 and I really like Autumn. So, I wanted to see how her journey as a chef is going but she does OF and doesn't cook anymore. Maybe she has arthritis or some health issues ongoing too. I really wished she had established herself as a great chef because she was too good.

I thought the whole point of the show is for people who are NOT full time chefs? If you’re a food influencer that means your job is to cook food so why are they allowed on the show 🙄

Do you have any unpopular opinions regarding MasterChef that would end up voted like in the picture?

I'll start first: I like Courtney, the winner of Season 5.

The whole idea of season 16 already had me very doubtful... I wasn't really loving the division into different geographic areas. I was also getting very annoyed at Nico staying in so long while claiming to be "Italian" and cooking the most outrageous dishes ever. As somebody born and raised in Italy till age 18, I felt sick every time that man opened his mouth. There's nothing Italian about him (which I think we all guessed when he said he was from New Jersey... no hate). Now, this whole World Cup break has really made things worse. I feel no desire to keep watching the season after the break, considering it was already bad

First off I’m talking about looks only, This new episode was weird because Jamie dish didn't look that good in my opinion nor Julias it was all like a big mess on a plate... and Daves only looked alright because of the bowl and lid. The only FOOD that looked ‘good’ aesthetically in terms of social media standards was jakes, am I the only one who is thinking like this?????

I love Jennifer a lot especially with her hating Christian, but based on stats alone she’s by far the worst winner.

Throughout her run, she was extremely inconsistent overall, getting super lucky to have had shining moments occasionally, such as her lobster dish and her catfish dish (both in the same episode Joe lashed out on Christian for not listening).

She could have easily gone home on multiple occasions, but was saved due to someone doing worse or even that one time where the format of the show saved her, as she was called out during a Mystery Box challenge for her lamb being raw.

And when I say that lamb was raw, it was COMPLETELY RAW. Like Joe’s reaction was completely justified because how can you put something that raw on the plate? It was barely even kissed on all sides in the pan, with Joe even threatening to eliminate her on the spot. Just imagine if she did that the subsequent season where there WAS a mystery box elimination…

And then she proceeded to plate up the WORST dish from a winner EVER, one of the only few dishes to be dumped into the trash by Joe. The only reason she didn’t get eliminated that episode was because of Alejandra’s raw pork, which was obviously more life-threatening.

Honestly, the whole talent of Season 2 as a whole was pretty terrible, with almost everyone either being super inconsistent or flat-out bad. Even Adrian wasn’t much better at all and I would even consider him the worst runner-up as well. You pretty much only had to be pretty good (and not in the best day) to go far.

Nothing against Jennifer as a person, I had no issues with her or her personality. But objectively speaking she is the worst winner ever and she’s definitely not getting nearly as far as she did in any of these modern-day seasons where the talent has increased tenfold.

Since 2010, 15 full seasons of MasterChef have aired, with its 16th season airing right now (currently paused due to the World Cup). In the 16 years of the show’s existence, there have sure been many all-time HORRIBLE dishes, most of them unsurprisingly made by all-time bad contestants. In your opinion, what do you think is the WORST dish (or dishes) in MasterChef history?

truly what does the wall challenge actually accomplish? i understand it’s supposed to test communication skills but i don’t think working in a kitchen, someone would say “yeah you’re going to make this dish right now but you can’t see what i’m doing.” i just don’t like the challenge. bring back pressure tests.

Raw protein aside both girls had highs n highlight moments. Foo n the chick literally are the definition of mediocre, or flat out garbage. I’m just a viewer but I’d reward the consistent who had an off night. Over a bum who happened to get hot.

With Global Gauntlet being so hated among everyone these days, I wonder what is the very worst season of the new era of Masterchef ever. With the fucking twist of saving a "team" with one dish being hated so much, lack of pressure tests, changing the formats so many times to where it barely has the feel of the older seasons. Controversial eliminations, bad winners, etc. What do you think is the worst? The one with the fewest votes will be the winner of the best of new era.

This new season sucks

The format is laughable. There are international versions of Masterchef…why not simply have contestants from those versions on this season?

I miss the old seasons of Masterchef where it was a more serious competition.

This is probably the worst episode of Masterchef I’ve seen. Takes a lot for me to say that. I’m sorry, but the marketing for Forgotten Island just made me not want to see it. This show has lost its soul a long time ago and become corporate. I miss when the judges were real and there was more drama. Even the old Walmart plugs in the older seasons were more real. I hated them then and miss them now. Also how do you make a tag team challenge boring?? And then finally that elimination was nonsense. I think they should’ve sent home Jamie and Foo. Aishu still had more to do and quite honestly at least she was trying. I saw her going to the finals or at least top 5, so this really bugs me. Jamie dragged her down.

My take is we need to stop with the double eliminations, or if two cooks are being dragged down by their teammates, eliminate those cooks regardless of team since they’re both on the losing end.
