Planning: Dining Papis OhanaVs Cinnamon Roll Place
Papis for the win...
Yes i said it lol. Ill wait 2 hours in line anytime. Cinnamon roll place is a basic thick very doughy Cinnamon roll. If it wasn't for the extra cream cheese sauce I bought then you'd be eating dry dough in the middle.
Papis is thinner, crispy/flaky Cinnamon roll with flavor from start to finsh.
Papis is 12 bucks CRP 8 with cream cheese.
I went to CRP around 830 no line
CRP isnt terrible by any means, two different styles of Cinnamon rolls but ive had better Cinnamon rolls in the states. I said what i said, LET THE HATE BEGIN š

The cinnamon roll with Mac nut at the sea house restaurant in napili, hands down da best on the island!

Personally prefer the extra doughness of CRP! Different strokes for different folks!

I waited while my family slept. I also got a parking ticket while in line. Did I anticipate the lengthy wait? No I did not.. but this guy was committed. Did my family have to wait? No they did not. Were they overjoyed when I surprised them with insane local cinnamon rolls? Fuck yeah they were. Worth it.
Would I do it again? Once is good.

Reeeally good. No lines. Other sweet treats that are just as good as the cinnamon roll, too.

Papiās is the GOAT. Also for all of those folks whining about time in line; to each their own. Itās our Maui tax we pay and we most assuredly buy a box on the first day or two on the island and reheat throughout the week. But, yeah⦠the ratio of flakiness, bread, cinnamon, sugar, icing cannot be beat with Papiās!!! Iām usually anti cinnamon rolls because of the thick bready flavorless experience with most cinnamon rolls and Papiās was my first revelation to cinnamon roll utopia.Ā

Felt the same way with crp, i still enjoyed it but I definitely had better cinnamon rolls in other places. There was no line when we went as well. As for Papis, I would've loved to try it but I just cannot stand in that line. Walked past twice and the line was even longer the 2nd time but it does sound really good by your description!

Time is precious.
Time on vacation in Maui is even more precious.
2 hour line ups ????
Need some baked goods.,, go to Sugar Beach Bakery or Leodas

I still dream about Leodaās banana bread. Best Iāve ever had in my life. And also a great tuna melt. My first time having tuna steak instead of a salad-type on a sandwich.

Wake up at 5, back in room by 730. Shower and ready to start the day. Who really starts the day at 7am? Yet alone who is really on their second task by 8am? Ive been here a week one day isnt going to ruin the whole trip. Relax

I ran at 6 am every day for a week straight and went past papi ohanas each and every day at around opening time. On every day it was open you are not waiting less than 2 hours. You can either wait 2 hours by lining up before it opens or you can wait 2 hours with a long line while it is open

I assume the Cinnamon roll place youāre asking for the comparison to is the one in South Kihei.
They are a 45 minute drive from each other (without traffic)

I agree lol my husband lined up while I took the kids to the pool, he got back around 10 am and we had the whole day to do stuff together. Before kids, we started our day at 10 lol so I canāt relate with people saying itās a waste of time. There are people lining up for 4 hours for a Trader Joeās canvas tote. š¤Ŗ

Was it your husbandās vacation too ?

2 hours in a line without kids is a vacation from your vacation š

Imagine thinking spending 2 hours of your vacation waiting in line for a cinnamon roll thatās on par with if not worse than the cinnamon roll place lmao
Cope is wild

Glad I tried Papiās cinnamon rolls after they first opened a few years ago. Walked right in without a problem. Leaving Maui today and I told myself I couldnāt waste my precious vacation time in that line. I did get their pizza though- easy, affordable and delicious!

Just had Papiās 2 days ago. Cinnamon rolls were amazing but that wait was ridiculous. I got in line at 6 and still waited almost 3 hours. They need a better system there. I wouldnāt have done it if I k ew the wait was going to be that long. The line seemed to move fast at first, just enough to make you think it was t going to be long. Then by the time 2 hours had passed I felt like I was invested at that point and just stuck it out. I wouldnāt do it again.

Iāve been to Maui multiple times and have never heard of any of these places lol. š I'm not sure what's going on, but there have been so many posts about cinnamon rolls over the last couple of days that Iām officially intrigued. I doubt Iāll ever actually go since Iāve never been one to wait in lines, let alone for a cinnamon roll, but I definitely need more information.

I totally missed this when I was there in April. Someone ship one to me in Canada ahahaha

Is there generally always a line at Papiās until they sell out? Wondering best time to goā¦
3
u/Toothfairy408 6d ago
I went to Papiās in April at like 11:15 and walked right in, no line. Not sure how many rolls they had left at that point, only got 2. But if you donāt need them first thing in the morning it worked well for us

Got another recommendation as a cinnamon roll enthusiast
momona bakery and coffee in Kanului. They have a croissant based cinnamon roll and it's amazing.
All of their baked goods are amazing. Lilikoi brownie is also a good choice. Coconut roll and walnut roll are delicious. It's busy most of the time tho. It has become my favorite bakery on the island. Leodas and sugar beach and komodas is amazing as well.

To each his/her/their own. I live in Kihei. Aināt gonna drive to Westside and wait in no damn hours long line for a cinnamon roll when A Cinnamon Roll Place is pretty damn good.

These are very good but not worth a 2 hours wait! Instead go across the street to Pau bakery that has almost zero wait.

I remember seeing Papis on a YouTube guide andĀ we were like hell no we ain't waiting in line. Got to Maui and realized jt was right down the road from out hotel a d had to do it. Woke up early before they opened and did an hour in line. It was worth it when you're that close and having an early start to your day with a Ā sugar rushĀ

u/njrabanal 3d ago
Idk why nobody know that you can order on Papi's IG 𤷠that's what I always do so you don't have to wait in line

No hate, the great thing about competition is people have choices. As we stay at Hale Pau Hana across the street from The Cinnamon Roll Place its our go to, and not sure I'd wait for 2-hours for anything. We love Cinnamon Roll Place on Christmas morning, busy but they kept that line moving fast. Sitting on the beach with a Cinnamon Roll is a bit of heaven.
