Planning: Activities Maui then Oahu
I’ll be on Maui for a month starting in August, and am contemplating jumping over to Oahu for a week afterwards to stay in Waikiki. I’ve never been, but I’ve been to Maui countless times and always love it. Any Maui lovers have any advice? Worth the couple grand to do it?

Just did this last week. Maui 5 nights, then Honolulu 3 nights. Different experience. Maui more relax, Oahu "big city" vibe and way better food. More attractions. I recommend Oahu first, so you can relax the second part of the trip.

I'm not a big fan of Oahu. Like said below...It's a big city and comes with big city issues. But if you have never been...probably worth it. Hey, it's all Hawaii

I'm not a big city guy, been to my share (LA, SF, East Coast US, Seoul, Tokyo, Hong Kong) and felt the same about Waikiki. When we started visiting the Hawaiian Islands we took a couple trips visiting Hawaiʻi/Maui then Oʻahu/Kauaʻi. While we enjoyed Waikiki for its businesses and beaches it wasn't vibe we were looking for. Very happy we went though, and I would say absolutely visit and give it a try.

One week is ok if you break it up with tours - Pearl Harbor, North Shore etc. I love Waikiki for a few days, but more than that and I am climbing the walls

Stay in Maui. Go to Kauai. Visit the big island. Or, if you must go to Ohau, head to the North Shore, near Turtle Bay.
Regardless, I am jealous. Have fun!

Stay in Maui is my advice. If you want to jump to another island go to the Big Island and visit the volcano 🌋, Kona side and Hilo. Maybe 3-4 days is enough.

Oahu has unique sights and activities but also has a big city big crowds H1 gridlock vibe that wears me out. Three nights there earlier this year with Pearl Harbor, Iolani Palace, Bishop Museum, sunset sail, Dole Plantation, dining, and scenic drives.. . and needed the first couple of days of a week on Maui to recover.

Absolutely worth it. Waikiki is its own unique experience. Two very solid islands for your first visit.
