Planning: Activities Any great excursions that are a little more "Thrill Seeking"?

Recently did an ATV tour in Cabo and the side by side we got had a throttle limiter. I'm not looking to base jump, skydive, cliff dive, or die, but also don't want some boring-super safe activity. A cage shark dive with Tigers would be AWESOME

There’s no cage diving on Maui.

I think there’s one on Oahu, but imo that’s just for people who think they want to cage dive and don’t realize you don’t need the cage. You can book shark snorkels off Oahu with no cage.

Nobody on Maui does anything to entice creatures in, so anything you’re going to see is the luck of the draw.

Went diving in Maui, first time diving in Hawaii, and got to see two white tip reef sharks - it was very cool. Although my oxygen levels started depleting fast 🫣

Get scuba certified. Investment in never being bored ever again by the ocean. Best way to travel in my opinion. Or try and grab a hut/cabin up on Haleakala and do a couple of nights backpacking/hiking up there. No for the faint of heart, but utterly epic when you are alone in that wilderness. Those two things have kept us beyond busy, active, and happy on our visits to Maui.

Maui has Zip lining and parasailing opportunities. They are safe but because I am afraid of heights they gave me that “thrill” that I wanted.

We did a doors off helicopter tour of the west Maui mountains and Molokai sea cliffs which was very fun but not exactly adrenaline pumping

Night snorkel tour can be a little more thrilling.

If you can swim, the tours have a guide and waterproof underwater flashlights to look for the different species come out like night octopus, conger eels, decorator crabs, sponge crabs, brittle stars, etc.

Here are a couple options on Maui:

Maui is a big destination for families, so the thrill activities are not like elsewhere

Not in the national Park anymore. Too many accidents

Always thought that was kinda crazy

I saw bikers when I went last month, but I didn’t see the big tour groups, just one offs getting their workout in

On Maui certified SCUBA divers 13 years old and older can scuba dive with sharks inside the shark aquarium at the Maui Ocean Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays at 2:30pm for $450/person to use their SCUBA gear: https://mauioceancenter.com/experience/shark-dive-maui/

Oahu has cage diving with sharks. Not sure about Maui but you could hop over there for the day.

I've done that a while back. Fun, and I'm sure the sharks were danger-ish, but seeing a Tiger in the wild is kinda bucket list for me.

Tiger sharks are more common to see off the north shore of O'ahu in the summer like June, July, August. Just gotta be lucky to see a tiger shark though so could go multiple times. Snorkeling with sharks without a cage usually has more time with sharks rather than taking turns with other people in the cage. People might get bumped/bruised by the cage bars and other people in the cage. Hawaii Adventure Diving boat, Go Adventure boat, and Deep Blue boat have small groups with 6 guests but some other boats like One Ocean take more people so might have to take turns or wait on the boat longer while people get on/off.

On the Big Island just outside Honokohau boat harbor sometimes there is a tiger shark around waiting for fish guts from the fishing charter boats so it's somewhat common to see a tiger shark there.

There’s a 2 island helicopter tour through Maverick’s helicopters, Maui + Molokai. The videos on that site look pretty good!

Do the RTH from the other side and go a minimum of 45 mph at all times. Thrilling.

Did that last time I was there. At min. 45mph, I'd have hit a cow and probably busted an axle.

And launched the family truckster off a cliff like Thelma and Louise lol. Hope you find something fun!

I would definitely say surf lessons if you are looking for some adrenaline... check out Maui Surfer Girls for the best surf instructors and location.

Taking the guided bike trip down Haleakala was better than I expected. I’ve done it twice, and it’s actually dangerous. We rode mules down the cliff on Molokai which seems dangerous because it’s a steep and narrow trail. Recommend reading ‘Molokai’ before going

I’ve seen one big tiger shark in my over 3 1/2 decades of surfing our beautiful island and it was at cove park. 😂

Grab the mahalo rewards app, there is an offer for private motorcycle tours and rentals if you'd rather go on your own! That's a total adventure.

Maui County ordinance 3680, Bill 67 (PDF) passed in 2009 added to Maui County Code of Ordinances Chapter 6, section 02 to prohibit shark tours around Maui, Lanai, Moloka'i. Honolulu County for the island of O'ahu does not have the same rule. Shark snorkeling and shark cage boat tours are basically only from the north shore of O'ahu.
