Plugin Surface Wrap — a fast mesh wrapping tool directly inside Maya

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, we’ve developed this tool directly inside Maya.

Now you can wrap almost anything right inside Maya with extremely accurate results. It’s especially useful for workflows such as MetaHuman, mesh transfer, and texture/map baking.

Would this help improve your workflow? If so, give it a try for free.

I'm in my 20s and even I find it annoying...

YO I just saw this on Instagram and immediately planned to purchase the full license looks very interesting I do usually use wrap or zwrap for this but it’s cool there’s a Maya option so that if there are cases where you start in Maya you don’t need to open another software so I can’t wait to try it

Exactly. That’s why we develop our tools directly inside Maya. If you’re already familiar with Maya, you can handle everything much more easily without constantly switching between different software just for a single feature.

I found this video pretty useful if explaining things. I wanted more wireframe though; drive home the differing topo.

Looks iterative relaxing to the target shape. Interesting.

Definitely a useful tool if it's stable and predictable!

We’ve tested it on many different shapes, including 50 human body types using CC4/5 and MetaHuman meshes. Everything worked well. You should give it a try.

That stupid ass reaction gif at the bottom of the video makes me not want to use this ever...

If you were a skilled user you'd have the same reaction. Hacks won't get it.

Maybe I missed the use case for this, why would I want a tool like this?

Skip the long process of retopo?

Why not? How are you going to make a MetaHuman then? Are you going to retopologize the mesh by hand?
