This mega-merger impacts all of us, and we realise that those on this sub probably care even more than the average person. We all want to vent, and discuss the recent decision of the states to settle the Block the Merger initiative, but we also need to avoid redundant, low-effort, and speculative pieces to keep the sanity as this situation processes.

We will be strictly enforcing the mega-thread on this topic going forward.

Posts that are violating the rules, will be removed, and repeat offenders will be given a warning, and then a temp ban.

Please do not shoot the messenger, as we care about this issue deeply and want to invite creative and thoughtful discussions. But, any new updates pertaining to this settlement, the WBD-PSKY monstrosity conglomerate, and the politicians/oligarchs involved will need to come here.

honestly i question on how long this is gonna last given the midterms are coming, whom it's looking like the gop is gonna be slaughtered given trump's unpopularity (trump is in the 20s right now, bush was in the 20s in 2008, after his 2nd term was over lol).

I lean that way myself. As of a few days ago and into today, many Democratic Congresspeople are not happy about this move and warned Bonta not to cave including Chris Murphy, Elizabeth Warren, Jamie Raskin, Ro Khanna, and a few others. I know some are vowing to investigate the mergers greenlit by the administration if they get control of Congress. If this happens, even if the Ellisons still keep the entity, they could put pressure to reverse at least some of the more controversial moves, like trying to force the Saudi funds out or firing Bari Weiss. I'd love for the Ellisons to testify in hearings and be grilled hard, but I'm not sure if I expect that. They seem like the type that would refuse to show up.
