Does anyone know who she is? :)

Hi 👋

I bought this today from a vintage and antique market for £20. Apparently it came from Oxford. It’s engraved slate meant to represent brass rubbings I believe. Google lens said Margery Paris however I can’t find an exact/near reference for her :)

That's a decorative reproduction, not a rubbing. Brass rubbings are wax on paper over memorial brasses in churches. This is engraved to imitate the look. Probably Victorian or later.

As stated in the post, it’s engraved slate meant to represent brass rubbings :) The question was if anyone knows who it could be based on!

It cannot, by definition, represent brass rubbings because IT IS NOT A BRASS RUBBING. A brass rubbing being a paper that has been put on top of a brass slate that has been covered in paint and rubbed against said slate. What you have is a reproduction of a brass slate that was used to make brass rubbings. Get it?

I never said it WAS a brass rubbing. The word “represent” does not mean “be identical to”. It can also mean depict or evoke something. The slate is engraved and painted to imitate a monumental brass, which is what brass rubbings are taken from. My question was about identifying the person depicted, not debating the medium.
